    @@neonflashsparkotron5435 when I was a kid all I did was run around Hyrule field and I would never get close to them. When I started playing a few years ago I thought they were some weird tent. Until I got up on it. Now one thing that did scare me years ago and sometimes now when I'm playing Majora's Mask are the Poe's. The big Poe's scared me the most as well as the Poe sisters in the Forest Temple. Especially when you go in the area where there's stairs and you see a Poe sister in the portrait, but then when you go back to that same spot it's gone. That scared me the most. And it's super creepy when their eyes turn red as they're trying to attack you. Still makes me shiver to this day honestly.

I often wonder what it would be like to hear this music for the first time without ever having played or seen the game anywhere. This Song is like if Koji Kondo composed a day. From the early morning chirps at the beginning right into the busy midday a few daily struggles right into the afternoon and sunset moonrise. this is how storytelling with music works, with emotions and how important it is to fit the scenario in a video game. it s better for the immersion and make the player having a general better experience than just random upbeat tracks. Zelda was his favorite line of games ever, I now revisit and play these staple songs from my childhood that remind me of him. Anything zelda will always remind me of him. He's gone too early, but he was here long enough for me to have made memories with him and im grateful for that.

    Ahhh, being a kid, innocent, playing this game at the ends of the 90s, not knowing that the world was very grim. Which ironically reflected the theme that the game was conveying: the adult world is complex, dark, more serious and a cruel place. When you left Kokiri Forest your world expanded, then when you lift the legendary Master Sword from its pedestal at the Temple of Time, a perfect moment in my life, you get introduced to a level of hardship and darkness never before experienced. Day and nights spended with my beloved cousins and childhood friends playing this gem, competing about who was getting more closer to completion, givings us tips and fake tips... sometimes playing together, sometines in solitude, then catching up to each other progress about the game, sidequests, story. Chanting and introducing each other with new Ocarina's melodies. Trying to up the other in this incredible game. Ohh the discussions about the best way to beat a boss or solve a puzzle. I remember the time I, without Internet (which was practially non-existent in those days) or guides, discovered by myself the time paradox of the Song of Storm context while playing with dirt and bolted right away, fired up the 64 and started executing my -then- theory. And it worked! I felt like fucking Einstein after spending weeks being blocked in the game progress. This moment its top tier! This was beautiful and ephemeral, only now I finally realize this. This was a cherised moment, unique and unrepeatable, but I didn't knew that at that naive time of my life. It was awesome. I can even remember the very moment I watched the first epic trailer in Cartoon Network, being excited about some game I didn't knew before but that I was serious certain that would change my life, I had to have it... I thanks my family, specially my mom and uncle for gifting my this precious golden game. The night I received this, my life wasn't the same. Now, as an adult I can fully appreciate that gesture. But damn, the people that surrounded you at those times now have changed a lot. Yourself too, even to a point of being unrecognizable. The flow of time move like a river. Sage words from misterious Sheik. So much truth contained in those dialogues! This is the bittersweet feeling of the nostalgia. A tear and a smile at the same time. P.S Sorry about my broken English, isn't my native language.

    I feel like it's impossible to describe what it was like to play this game in the late 90's as a child. It was so above and beyond anything else that was available, it showed us what a 3D game could be, it was groundbreaking for it's time and still managed to get right pretty much everything it did. From the story, to the dungeons, the music, and the controls (which have aged now but for the time were revolutionary). I can still play the N64 version today and enjoy it as much as I did in 1998. I actually don't think a game will ever be as close to perfect as this game was for it's time.

  • @OrangeXenon54

    @OrangeXenon54

    I think you're overplaying it or don't have a very good memory of gaming at that time. Super Mario 64 already showed us what a 3D game could be and came out 2 years earlier and is much more replayable due because it's not as linear as OoT is. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon released a year before and it's a much better 3D adventure game with lots more exploration and a larger variety of gameplay styles. Plus OoT was an ugly game even back then. Majora's Mask blew it out of the water in every way only 2 years later. I understand it was "groundbreaking" in many ways, but that doesn't mean it's the pinnacle of gaming.

    This game was my first “real” video game. (I’d played Wii Sports beforehand) My friend at church had gotten this game recently for the 3DS. I was wowed by the graphics. 10 years later, I own the cartridge, and still play through it every year. Ocarina has and always will be my favorite game of all time.

    @@jacobmonks3722 I 100% agree, but very few people believe that. Wii Sports and it’s sequel are amazing games, and easily some of my favorite games of all time.

    man what I would give to go back in time just for ONE sunday afternoon again as a kid to play this. no work, no bills, everyone you know and love still alive. just a good afternoon taking turns playing N64 with friends and going outside just to see how far you could walk and what you could do. half people I played this game with as a child are now deceased, and so are many of the relatives. times sure do change fast.
