28 mpg? That’s impressive for a 3.55 car. Wow! Best I’ve gotten with my 2007 is 23.5 mpgs and my 07 has 3.27’s! My best range was 380ish on a full tank. I’ve also found whenever my low fuel light comes on, it takes about 15.5ish gallons to fill it. So when the low fuel lights on, there’s about 3.5 gallons left in the tank. You should do a video about how to drive to get that kinda mileage. Great work sir! Subbed.

Thank you! Honestly just get on the highway, set the cruise control to 60, and don't go any faster or slower than that lol. The only other strategy I employed was if you got some hills, try to accelerate going downhill and coast uphill. If you want to try to draft semi trucks that might work too, but I didn't do that. Maybe that could get it to 30!

Back when my 03 Marauder used to have 3.55 gears I drove it from Portland Oregon to Garden Grove California 994 miles door to door. I only stopped for gas twice once in Medford and then the second time was in Stockton I did that while driving 85mph. I think I was averaging about 25 miles to the gallon. It was 2019 I can’t remember exactly. I’ve done a trip a couple times since then the last two times this year once in May and The second time in July with 4.10 gears traveling close to the same speed I’m getting 22.8 to 23.6 mpg and have to stop 3 times. Each time filling up was nearly $100. Gotta love that premium life though...

Great results! Best I've gotten was about 28.2 on my 2008. Surprisingly that was driving it across the country, it was one tank where I averaged around 70 mph which I was really surprised by! Overall that trip yielded between 23-28. These are great cars 👍

police versions can have, 3.27 rear end, 3.55 and 3.73 rear end gear ratio. now, for beat off the line acceleration is the, 3.73 but it's the worst mileage lol. so if you are focused on, MPG get a police vic with the 3.27 rear gears. also, I'm not 100% sure but I think there is also the police version option for the, 3.23 rear gears

According to the window sticker a 2011 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor will get 14 city and 21 highway, equipped with 3.55 rear gearing. This video proves you can absolutely get better mpg if hypermiling. Very interesting! These 4.6s make great dailys, if driving lightly at least for most of the time driving.

My 2007 P71 with the 3.27 axle, will do 23.5-24.5 MPG at cruise controlled 75 MPH on a 5 hour drive to SLC. My 2008 with a 3.55 axle does 22.5-23.5 on the same drive. I have no doubt if I did it at 60 MPH the numbers would be up there with yours.

At 65mph, 1900rpm, I can get around 25-27 mpg. If I travel at 70 mph, 2050 RPM, I'll get around 23 mpg. 21mpg against 10mph headwind and at 70mph. I have 3.27 posi-trac gears, so at 68mph I'm at 2000rpm. If I stay at 68, I can get anywhere between 24-25 mpg. I do not have cruise control, so I modulate the throttle going up and down hills. I do a lot of driving at 55mph to and from work, I can get around 28-29mpg. True stop and go traffic will kill my mpg to 16-17 mpg. These cars are solid cruisers. I am looking at a T56 manual transmission swap and wondering how it will affect mileage of these big girls with stop and go traffic. My Mods (engine performance-wise): Spectre drop in air filter. SPE-HPR5056 Motorcraft GL8858 Alternator swap. The civilian vics have a 155a alternator and have significantly less mass and larger pully. ACCEL 140032-8 Super Coils. NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs TR6IX # 3689 Duralast DW449B ground cable from battery negative to alternator Felpro Throttle body gasket 61050 (the 2005+ cars have a throttle body silencers that can restrict air flow and low end torque. Motorcraft 5C2Z-9E936-BA) Tires I keep at 45 psi, I have YOKOHAMA YK-GTX ALL SEASON tires which can inflate to 51 psi.

Hi, I have a 03 GM I bought new just over 19 years ago w/2.73 gears and at about the same speed (lower rpm) I used to get the same and even better MPG from NJ to Kansas on I-70 mostly. I would average 29 overall over this 1,500 mile run. Average mpg consistently dropped slightly after KC. Odd fact, when I replaced the oem spark plugs in 2010 at 95,000 the mpg took an instant 5% hit. I have advanced scan tools and review the live data and everything is good. I never seen any discussion anywhere of spark plug brand effecting fuel economy. When I replace the plugs again I will try to go back to the oem Motor craft brand and see what happens.

most of your driving was also highway. most people and security companies that use police vics, drive mostly city. I own a security company and on average, my vics get, 17MPG to 20MPG. that is combined city and highway use. and I keep the vics well maintained and good tires and tire pressure.

With most modern cars yes, but A) I don't know if that applies to this one with its 3.55 rear end and 2) 65 is impossible to maintain on the road I was on. You're either doing 60-ish with the trucks in the slow lane or 80+ with everyone else in the fast lane.
