    I'm studying for my final exam which is in 4 days and your alkene reaction playlist has been a life saver. I go to one of the top universities in Canada and my professor gets paid lots and lots of money yet I can't understand him at all. You, on the other hand, explain it so simply and perfectly that a person like me ( who is way below average at chem) can understand it. Thank you very much :)

    Wow, that is a complicated reaction. Explained MUCH better than my textbook and every other resource I've used thus far. Professors at my university don't even expect us to know the mechanism for the oxidation part - they think it's too tough for us! What a shame. Leah proving 'em wrong one video at a time.

    Hey guys. If you love the videos that Leah has on youtube, don't forget to subscribe. Furthermore, give her studyhall service a try. I'm currently subscribed and I can hang my hat on the fact that I will not have a problem with ochem 1. Leah answers questions on her facebook group every day. If she doesn't get to it first, someone else will. She is ultra-responsive to questions of any kind. Recently, someone posted an usual reaction and she went ahead and made a video about it so everyone could understand it. Her service is very interactive and not just one of those services where you're on your own. Her service is one of a kind. You can potentially interact with her almost every day.

    Hi , Dear Leah , I want to ask about Hydroboration , on step 2 : oxidation , what if it is a OH- attached to the Boron instead of the OOH- , then OH- will have nothing to kick out (originally OOH- will kick out OH- and replaced by R group to form - BOR ) , and the R group can't attach back to the Oxygen atom , then It would be Boron with 3 OH- , B(OH)3 , below are 2 questions : 1. can I just skip the H2O2 ( not adding any) and just add H2O & NaOH 2. is it OOH- must attack before OH- attack Boron? so can't form B(OH)3 directly? any chance OH- can attack before OOH- when OH- is just adjacent to the Boron atom?

  • @prasunmukherjee1139

    @prasunmukherjee1139

    4 жыл бұрын

    The reaction starts with initial attack of pi bond to the Lewis acid borane and as soon as the attack happens the boran becomes a borohydride analogue which is highly reactive and want to give an hydride to an electrophilic center which gives no chance to the broken pi bond to rotate via single bond rotation and thereby prevents any anti addition. BH3 reacts with the alkene in a simultaneous 'concerted' mechanism. Since B and H add together, they have to add next to each other on the same 'syn' side. B is ultimately replaced by OH in a series of steps once again on the same face of the molecule

    You are so much better than the OrganicChem tutor channel. His voice is also annoying and yours is so clear and pleasing to the ears. lol thank you!

    TarabAseel12 HAHHA are you his friend? Perhaps lover? You’ve got this immense sense of loyalty to him. If I really need to clarify it for you, there exists countless people who tutor in this world. Some tutors connect better with certain people. Boo, I hurt your fragile feelings .... grow up and stop projecting your inadequacy onto the world.

    Nini Le I’m laughing right now, no I’m not his friend but I wish I were, he is a great helpful guy who helps for free, and I happen to tutor o chem for free as well for 10 years already, what have you done to humanity except being a negative influence? You’ve got issues.
