    the ball bearing cracked, the tungsten titanium cobalt alloy is the one with the dent. it's stronger than tungsten carbide, but not harder.

    Would be cool but sadly the force is just spread out over a larger area because the “table” is more ductile and also quite thick. The bearing will deform the press head increasing the contact area thereby lowering the pressure while the carbide will deform less from the bearing meaning less contact area and a higher pressure.

    You can see how much the table actually bends, when the pressed subject shatters from the force. The piston is barely moving, its the table that shoots back up.

    They probably don’t see any point in tempering after hardening them as once they deform the slightest, they will be useless. At least while at their hardest, they will withstand more stress before failing.
