Hi I enjoyed your video and liked and subscribed. Because of my past I have a lot of interest in Electrical Vehicles. I have been watching the move to Electric Vehicles in the world with great interest. My father who was in the USAF opened an automotive electric repair shop in about 1961 after we moved to Delaware. As a teenager I work there a little and completed several Heath Kit Education series that he paid for. In 1970 I joined the USAF Reserves. The field I was in was Auto Pilot (automatic flight control systems). I went to a 8 month school at Chanute Air Force Base near Rantoul Illinois. In 1973 I open and ran an automotive air conditioning and radiator service repair shop for 30 years. Then after selling the shop I went through an apprenticeship to be a commercial electrician, and after completing the apprenticeship took and passed the test to get a Master Electrician License. While working as a commercial electrician we worked in several electrical rooms that had 480-277 volts coming into them and step down transformers for 208-120 volts and service panels for both. We called high voltage the voltage that was on the poles in the thousands. --> I am 73 now and do not intend on going back to work but may be interested in building an EV or converting a vehicle to electric. Could you recommend any good books and good suppliers of parts?
Mr Dan, thank you for your video, I enjoy learning from you. I want to emphasize how important is safety. Thank God I survived an arch flash accident and I learn a lot after that. I was trained to be safe, I knew all safety procedures and how to use protection equipment, but I became overconfident and thought was okay to work with live circuit as long as I follow procedures, but accident is an accident, is not planned, it just happens. The panel exploded. So I like to add something to what you said, if you don't mind. Wear safety glasses and face shield, it will save your eyes from hot flying pieces of metal; try to use one hand to make measurements so voltage does not cross your chest; wear electrical isolating shoes or mat and inspect the leads on the multimeter always for damage before using it. Thank you for your video.
Dan, this is going to be a great series. It will benefit all of us techs out there in what to expect from these vehicles. This will refresh my skills that I learned when I took the hybrids class from my automotive school

Thank you Dan. This is going to become an excellent series for both inexperienced and experienced technicians eager to absorb you skills and knowledge explained in real English. Your vids are already an essential learning tool for all techs within the mechanical engineering workshop I manage, and even though I'm just a dumbass senior mechanical engineer, I appreciate what you do. 👍👍🇦🇺

I had to go through Eaton factory training to work on these systems on medium duty trucks while I worked at Kenworth. All the safety requirements you mentioned were dead on what we were taught. We were only allowed to swap out components , definitely not allowed to open anything. Only had to do smaller repairs on a couple units before I left there. This is definitely a desirable skill to learn in the trade these days. Good content, eagerly awaiting the rest to come. Your videos are a refreshing change from most of the videos put out by the countless hacks who think they've become an expert by accidentally fixing one problem.

I've been doing high voltage since 2010 when I worked for Nissan on the first generation leaf, currently working with Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai and Honda, all using hybrid or full electric. You really need to know what you are doing and be certified, safety is crucial. It's common place now and will continue to grow. Very informative video, well done as usual 👍And just to add, you're experience is very advanced, anybody would be lucky to train and work with you. A vast knowledge bank👍
