Husqvarna Norden 901 (2022) Review | On and off road

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#Husqvarna enters the highly competitive #adventure #motorcycle market for the first time with the all-new Norden 901. It could define the brand with another string to its bow with a bike that nestles in between its sister firm's KTM 890 Adventure and the more off-road biased 890 Adventure R.
Mr Adam Child spent a couple of days to test the bike both on-and-off-road. For his full review head to: www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial...

Great review. Short and sweet. I will say I highly appreciated the action footage in the beginning and sprinkled in the review of the bike actually being ridden, without any background noise, talking, or music. It’s so nice to actually hear the bike and the engine. One thing I would say you may have left out, you forgot to mention cruise control is also standard. Huge feature for touring, and really nice you don’t have to pay extra for it like the KTM’s.

Great Review. Now that you covered both the nordern and the Tuareg what is your recommendation for someone who comes from Africa twin and us doing 80% travel on road but enjoys the double trail and occasional singles? Thanks

Is the seat comfortable for a trip such as " 500Km a day for 14 days " ?

Why is the explorer mode extra when it's already on the bike?

So they bring out a new bike with the full potential as an optional extra ? If you want the explorer mode........you gotta pay more ? Why don’t they sell the bike with its full potential at the standard price ?

I don't like the look of the Akra on this. Much prefer the look of the Remus in the black to match the bodywork

Too bad that the only tires listed in the booklet have speed code V (240 km / h) and there are no alternative tires ... (it is difficult to find something less road with code higher than Q or at most H). Husquarna (ktm) made the same mistake that Honda made with the Africa twin just released (which he remedied with the clearance before ... for those who want to argue with the Civil Motorizations ... and with the update of the booklet then). This information that almost never gives anyone is that you discover only after buying the bike

Not sure I understand the hype for this type of bike. Compromised for both on and off road. Best of both or worst of both?

It sounds like you definitely don't understand the attraction of this kind of bike. Fortunately for you (& many of the others commenting), there's plenty of other styles of bikes to choose from. No need to go with an ADV bike if it's not your thing. I rode sport bikes and sport-touring bikes for 30 years before I discovered the Adventure bike category. These past 7 seven years have been some of the most fun riding of my life. I'll never give up ADV bikes and dual-sport bikes, until I simply can't hold them up anymore. I only wish I'd discovered them sooner! I like the ability to ride off pavement better than any road bike can handle, and yet still have an absolute blast carving the canyons on paved roads. I don't miss the sport bikes at all, and my back and neck are happy I made the switch. Smaller dual-sports (say 250-690cc) are more fun in the dirt, but not nearly as good for the long multi-week trips I like, where I can cover 4,000 miles of mixed terrain. So an ADV bike is a must for the big trips, and they're great for commuting to and from work as well!

you are both right , the dual sport/Adv bike thing is and has always been about compromise between what works best on road vs off road , as they +`- are opposites in many if not most ways

I don’t really get spending out on a new, big heavy off road/ on road adventure bike craze. OK if your travailing across Africa or something, but in the UK? I like a bit of off roading but a light off road bike is great for that. For the road, buy a road bike. There’s so many new adventure bike riders nowadays on the road that never take their bike on anything more than a green lane. They get in the way of having a good blast down my favourite A and B roads 😬

kinda get you. it's basically like being a monk (one got smth one prop won't ever use)... but that is how capitalism works. buy smth (let's say an adv), find out u ain't use it properly (and there r more capable machines 4 ur needs), replace it (w let's say a classy roadbike) and burn some money doin that. but hey we got the freedom doin stupid things and that is worth smth. ;)) 👍

Middleweight adventure makes perfect sense tho, it’s weird to call a 901 middleweight but that’s what it is in the Adv scene, yes it’s slightly heavier than it should be but the middleweight Adv motorcycle gets some potent motor Tenere with MT-07, Tuareg with RS660 and the KTM-Husqvarna with the Duke 890. These are some of the most fun yet capable motors so for a “goldilocks do it all bike” a middleweight Adv with 21 inch wheels and spokes makes strong case than a lightweight enduro and heavy tourers. That being said I think the perfect Adv motorcycle would be a 400-500cc middleweight which will not only be lighter but it should be cheaper at the end of the you shouldn’t be afraid to drop your Adv off-road on a regular basis.

@@SamiNami lol. Agreed. I live in Kent, England where these adventure bikes seem to be taking over. 95% don’t ever see a mud track and are most commonly seen ambling down A and B roads on a sunny Sunday morning getting in every one else’s way. 😂

Yeah, they’re bollocks. If you genuinely want one bike for on and off road, get a 690 enduro r. Most of these bikes never even see a green lane, so buy a proper street bike.

Is it not just a ktm hybrid

  • @hungwasson1399

    @hungwasson1399

It is exactly a KTM hybrid. The Norden 901 is slotted exactly between the base KTM 890 Adventure, and the KTM 890 Adventure R. Plus, it has a distinctive styling completely unlike any KTM Adventure bike. It's also priced between it's two siblings. Do you have an objection?

The price varies by market. In the USA, the Husqvarna Norden 901 will retail for $13,999 USD. $900 more than the base KTM 890 Adventure, which has non-adjustable shocks, and doesn't come with quick shifter, cruise control, hand guards, LED auxiliary lights and that beautiful new TFT dashboard. Well worth the price difference, I say. The only advantage of the base 890 Adventure is a slightly lower CG & a quarter-gallon (1L) more fuel capacity - but the Norden has better wind protection. The Norden will likely be my next bike.
