ahh yes the Azores! Where everything is uphill!!!! I always loved the stop in the Azores when I was in the USAF. It's such a beautiful place to go and I bet it was really amazing to ride there!

Well done, nice bike. -But you are right that seating position with legs so splayed out - I’ve never seen anything like that?! Man that looks almost painful ha.

Cool review :-) Would love to know where the air filter is located on the 901. Same easy access as a KTM 890?

I love the look of this bike, a lot like my 2008 Honda Transalp 700v twin.

Does the Apex have a bottoming cone like Xplor Suspension or is it just a street bike suspension?

i was wishing for the uprated 'Explorer' suspension but i think nothing a re-spring and possibly revalve wouldnt fix ? + the whole Rottweiller kit i did on my 1090r , throw the soft bags on it and go , it outta perform better than i do id think ? wish i could buy a ktm but if i do i have to go 3 hours out of town to buy and to service it

This bike has more power and torque than the NT1100 I have just seen a review of, and more than my 2020 model Suziki 1050 Vstrom XT. With the weight saving on the norden it should go like a bat out of hell.

I’m 260 6’4” and it definitely goes like a bat out of hell. Quick snaps it’ll wheels 1-3. Explorer mode is a must for any off road.. or leave tc on LOL

Excellent review Rob. While I still think it's too heavy for my kind of riding, it is a bike that is really growing on me. I can't really see where the aftermarket would come in and immediately have a product that till make this bike much better. It seems well thought out.

nice review. is it though padding by the KTM accountancy department? Just a reworked KTM but rebadged? Or is a genuine Husky? If it is genuine an able to stand on its merit? Or is for the frothy coffee brigade? I for one would like Husqvarna back as their bikes used to great. Plus the service an reselling parts were excellent

Thank you. Huskies seem to be getting more diversified from their KTM cousins over time. This 901 definitely has its own unique flavor.

I wouldn't underestimate aesthetics. Huskies are pretty ktms.

I ride a KTM 990 Adv which now it’s getting older and reaching 80.000 km it’s getting more and more expensive to run. Service intervals are short and already expensive, spare parts are getting harsh, even buying a liter of the right oil is a challenge, especially while traveling. I wonder how the Norden will do on this. A friend of mine sold his 790 R because of poor reliability, which make me look in the direction of de T700 as a follow up for the old 990…., but its a bit of a boring bike. Norden looks like the right follow up for the 990 but I’m afraid for reliabilty and access to spare parts/oil etc…

It’s hard to be excited about this bike when the Aprilia Tuareg 660 will be just as nice but lighter!! Besides, Husqvarna dealers as just scarcest as Aprilia. My frustration when I had a 701 smc is that I had KTM dealers everywhere but they would touch the Husky….

I’m not sure how long ago you had your Husky but I find no issues taking my Svartpilen to the KTM dealers close to me. Personally I find the Norden looks much nicer than the Tuareg.

Honestly it looks like the successor to the 950/990 adventure series that KTM should have made. On a slightly related note, how much riding time vs time in the shop will an owner have to deal with? What has KTM and Husqvarna done to address their reliability and over poor dealer network?

@@doolbnroht Do you have first hand experience or is your question based on your impression from being active in the online motorcycle community? I am genuinely interested. I too am of the opinion that KTM has bad reliability and customer service, but I couldn't really say anything before I tried it myself, so I bought a 701 enduro. So far so good.

@@JohannesDalen I absolutely have owned and have friends who have owned road-going ktms and huskys. Dealer support while limited in the SE USA seems to be there but they are constantly backlogged with repairs. Reliability is not what you get when you buy a KTM. This is unfortunate because they are building what appears to be a top tier motorcycle. Keep in mind this is all coming from someone who likes to gamble. I do currently own a modern Ducati which has been flawless in the last 10k miles (something that would have never been said 10 years ago)

@@doolbnroht Interesting, thanks for sharing. I agree, it’s a shame that they struggle with reliability, because their bikes are very good. Struggling with reliability is one thing, they are pushing the limits when it comes to performance, so I can accept it to a certain degree when I’m in a good mood - but when they don’t treat customers right as well, then it’s too much. The LC4 engine in the 690/701 has been around for ages, I’m feeling slightly more confident about this platform than the 790/890.

WHY would they downgrade the suspension on the Norden? Doesn't make sense.

this one or triumph 900 rally pro?

Hard to say. Would really need to ride them back-to-back to give a definitive answer. Size, weight, componentry, and technology are similar. The Tiger900 Rally Pro seems to have the edge in suspension but the 901 has more power and is about $3k cheaper.

Not interested in big displacement, manufacturers! 500cc with all the modern accoutrements to include fairings for wind protection is what’s talked about all over the place but not delivered!

Oh the European wanna be Tenere 700 copy. I get that they wanted to compete against the T7, but come on, making it look so much like it in many ways, and specially using the same colors, well, that is a compliment to Yamaha. Seriously!

before you knot it - hackers (gov't?) will freely mess with riders\drivers controls 😂

Its such a cool bike but that headlight is just awfull, allmost as awfull as KTM’s bugface headlights, and its a dealbreaker for me

If it runs anything like their riding lawn mowers.... I'll pass.

None of the new bikes for this year have beaks: DesertX, Tuareg, Norden. The trend was started by the Tenere 700.
