Hunting rabbits in UK. Ferreting rabbits using long nets and purse nets. Hunting with dogs. Hunting with lurchers. Controling rabbits on sheep farm.
In this video I go ferreting with Ryan from MW RABBIT CONTROL. We head to his old permission with his dog Molly the machine, 3 ferrets, purse nets and a 50 yard long net from RABBITFEVER.COM.
The rabbits are few and far between and we have to walk a lot of ground. The first few warrens the warrens are too big and deep because the ground is sandy and the rabbits like to dig deeper. We manage a couple bolts but have to dig to the first rabbit.
We move onto some smaller warrens but the wind makes it tricky for Molly to anticipate the rabbits bolting. However she manages to catch a couple to add to the bag. We dig the final rabbit and head down the road to a second spot of permission.
This second place was a single field covered with open rabbit warrens. Ryan begins by just bolting to Molly but the rabbits don't have far to run to escape. He decides to use a long net to stop the rabbits reaching other warrens or the stone wall. This works out great and we manage a few more rabbits.
The camera battery dies so I have to film the final warren from the car. Ryan just uses purse nets and the rabbits bolts really well. We finish on 18 rabbits. Help my channel reach 20k subs. Like - comment - share - subscribe ... Thanks :)

It's a pleasure watching her and ryan work together.
What a great dog. We had one in the late 60s early 70s and he could catch pheasants on the wing if he put them up and didn’t go vertical he’d catch them in 20yards ( or they were gone.) Fantastic dogs lurchers... if you have a lurcher a terrier and a ferret you won’t starve.

They are good but so many close together so without the long net the dog wouldn't have a great chance. What part of the country are you based?

Thanks mate. Ryan did well lol should of seen us in the last vid, rabbits were bolting near me and were sending him like a lurcher. We missed these ones. Ryan not shy of using the spade. I like his idea of back filling the holes to stop the rabbits hole hoping

Used to have to regularly dig them out but in the days before trackers, never left a ferret behind, if it took all afternoon and 5 holes we’d get it back.

Ah ok cheers! I tend to use 8 to 10oz down here it’s a bit better with all the cover and hedge cuttings. I bet they hold a lot better in 4 though!

@@jaroold that net seems to hold them well but I think you need a slightly bigger mesh to stop them bouncing of. But to have one of them made would cost abit I would imagine. Yes mate I prefere heavier nets around hedges too. Thanks
