/ andrewreynoldshunting Lurcher hunting video hunting rabbits in the UK. Hunting with dogs.
This video is a collection of footage I captured of gem during her too short life. She was a loving and loyal companion/family pet and a great hunting dog. One of the best.
I will like to write a story soon that I will add to this video description.
Thanks for watching

When you loose a working dog it's not the same as loosing a pet. It's your working partner. Lost my own collie hound a couple of years ago, thought I would never replace her with another dog and have the same relationship but luckily got another collie hound and sure enough I love this one as much as I did the last one. I think this lurcher is excellent Lurcher there hard to come by great Lurchers nowadays you have to put the hard work in, maybe the only gripe I have she looks to hard mouthed. I used to have 3 Lurchers but only lamping I did, my brother was a terrier man he liked going out with the terriers and the ferrets with nets, he used the terriers in the cover and to mark the holes. My four Lurchers I used a soft ball when they were pups and I learned them to fetch the ball back with no aggression. Then from then on I used caught wild rabbits to give them runs, my Lurchers always fetched the rabbits back to hand alive and I used to catch so many, enough meat for out of season to eat as well.

@@peaceandlove5214 lurches come in all shapes and sizes. It would take a long time and lotts of breeding to create a breed. My cousin has gems brother but hasn't had any luck breeding from him yet to lass. If they did they would make cracking dogs on paper.

Collie saluki whipped greyhound. She seemed to have every good trait from each breed. She had the acceleration of the whippet. Brains, stamina and feet of the collie and saluki and game Ness of the greyhound. If I was to breed a pup in the future it would have both collie and saluki

Well she's just perfect, I have a slender fast border collie that came from a farm in New Zealand, I love the look of greyhounds and salukis and the athletisism. Yours seems like the perfect mix.

@@jasper777777 yes I really think the mix is perfect for what I hunt. It's not going to be everyone's and maybe not a beginners but as long as the collie is the working type and the saluki has come from good lines too. Your onto a winner.

I really don't think it would be the right dog for me, I don't hunt, and I have pet rabbits. I do agility and fly ball though and would love to see a lurcher type dog doing agility. My border collie has a really high pray drive but I was able to train him not to kill my rabbits, but he really wanted to at first, and it took a long time to train him out of it. I'm not sure a lurcher could be trained not to kill rabbits and they are probably happiest when they are hunting.

@@jasper777777 we had a lurcher and pet rabbits at one time. It was my dad's old dog gemma. She did look confused as she wasn't allowed to kill them.
