Wonderful to watch hunting in an age old fashion, as before the shotgun was thought of. Lovely to watch the dogs working the woods, and what an impressive bird the goshawk is. 👍
Longtime interest in falconry and hawking!! Once was able to hunt several times with a Gyr falcon trainer taking pheasant and crow! She was almost pure white with dark spots, very strong and would wait on or fly from the fist! Beautiful to watch!
I love how you can tell the dogs are having the times of their lives just givin er in the bush
As a angler of 50 years that looks brillant fun to me. I love the way sparrow hawks and goshawks can fly at speed through cover in pursuit .lovely vidio .just got my first really good look at a red kite yesterday about 6 miles south of Banbridge on A1 .beautiful bird bit more graceful looking than buzzard
If someone randomly asked me "What do you think Irishmen hunting pheasant with hawks would look like?" This would be it, the outfits, types of dogs, the forest, everything about this is perfect

Not all Irish here by any means.
Such gorgeous, gorgeous landscape, like what you would find in a story book.
Irish descendant in northern ontario Canada here. I hunt with a 20 gauge shot gun, on long walks, solo, deep in the woods, we have wolves running around, I have a wolf tag, so I carry heavier ammo for that in case. We have the very odd ring necked pheasant like I'm seeing there but mostly sharp tailed grouse, rabbit, wild cats, moose, in the north, all you'd expect. I love Ireland, the history, family came from Lough Gill, Sligo ( last name is Cuirnín). I figured I'd see you guys with rifles at the start of the vid but this was quite something. We can get flacon licenses in Canada, you got me thinking, save coin on ammo, I had no idea of their abilities. You men really dress it up, I have good gear and thermo as it's cold up here -35 celcius at worst off Lake Superior, I couldnt get away with my cap from Ireland maybe early fall. Anyhow hope to make it over.

@@seadrifter8975 It's really does, I spent the day off Ranger Lake Rd. Which is north of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario if you want to look on Google maps. There are a ton, ton of lakes. Most of them are loaded with trout. It's a drive but worth it. You Irish would love. There are descendants that loged out the roads into the backcountry.
Target acquired: launch feather missile.
I know goshawks are built for it, but man that gos can move!! Great Video, hat's off for the true falconers not ones who fly birds in shows, but who actually hunt the bird
3:50 birds like "let me go bro, I got this."
excellent camerawork and good to see Goshawk on top form..
Nice to see that Hawking is alive and well in Ireland. The birds look great and lots of game taken in fine style.

It even PLUCKS the feathers for you.
There is a beautiful cooperation between 3 animals to get a meal. I want to get into falconry more than hawks just cause I love the tenacity and efficiently of the smaller prey birds. But amazing video nonetheless! That was awesome.
That type of hunting it's like art 🎨
Stunning birds of prey just fantastic to watch, the hours of training must be phenomenal!
Looks like a very fun day of hunting! Always love watching dogs work a field and hedgerow. Dogs doing what they were born to do and Goshawks doing what they were born to do. Cool video.
Y’all living the good life. Greetings from New Orleans 🎭
These folks are real pros - I enjoy watching and appreciate their care and dedication to the goshawks!

Beautiful! I've been reading "H is for Hawk" by Helen MacDonald, and this video gives me great insight into how goshawks hunt.

A superb day of sport! Wonderful dogs and hawks! Greeting from South Carolina.
This is the real meaning of haunting with goshawk. Really good done, that video. Great!
Saw this in North Yorkshire last year. VERY effective!
The must have amazing hit ratio. Wonder how these birds (Hawks) spend their time in wild (after catching their prey)? Don't think the pheasant's can escape the hawks (too slow in flight). Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic video thanks for sharing
Clean and class 👍🇨🇮
This is an excellent sport. It's great to see hawks, humans and dogs working together. Everyone gets a meal.
Wicked cool! I'm not familiar with goshawks they seem like a praregrine falcon similar stature speed appearance and lb for lb even tougher then big hawks and eagles very very cool I'm jealous and now I want a goshawk and I love how they so small but no problem dispatching huge pheasants etc. So cool!
Amazing birds.
You can tell when the hawk sees the pheasant before the dog flushes it. He gets to take off before you release it.
Seriously the best hunting I've ever seen, I'd love to be there.
What a Beautiful Color Green!!!
Hunted most of my life and never like this. Pretty incredible!
That's absolutely magnificent ! What a beautiful way to spend outdoors.
Goshawk should have a little GoPro so we can see the kill.

Appreciate it’s a long time since video uploaded but I came across it and wondered why the hawks spread their wings when feeding after the kill. There must be a good reason but I know nothing about hunting with birds.
i'm love hawks ! good video !
Stunning countryside.
Ireland... beautiful...
cracking video i want to own a goshawk now...
Good video. I have always liked falconry or whatever it is called
One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen
very nice video and watching Don in action with a goshawk.
Примечательно то , что сокол замечает добычу еще прежде, чем она взлетит 3:53.
I love the dogs . Nice dogs . Very obedient .
Caça de alta classe cavalheiros, bom trabalho.
Cool, I'll stick to my shotty/gsp combo though I think!
I’m going hunting. You have a hawk and a dog what you gonna hunt? Just watch and learn watch and learn. Loved this video!
i wonder during these group hunts, how often are there problems with the BOP trying to attack each other, is that a thing?
Very kewl , but to much time retrieving the bird for me . I live in the midwest and have always wanted to try this with a falcon or osprey 👌...kewl video for sure 👍👍👍👍
Beautiful country,i am from Indonesia,i hope i can visit Ireland,
So classy so cool Us Middle Easterns love to do this so amazing Thank

This is some aristocratic shit right here. “Hunting with a 12 gauge? 20 gauge today?” “Nah. Hawk.” “And I thought buckshot was expensive!”
@patricknyhan7491
3 жыл бұрын
Ya know mideval peasants used falconry to hunt for survival, and it’s not actually that expensive (you don’t have to constantly buy ammo for a Hawk 😉). It just takes more time and commitment.

I don't think you'd want to use buckshot on pheasants, lol.
Hair clip for tail guard...hmmm...might try a modified one...thanks!

Wow never seen this type of hunting before how does it work/prepare the hawk for it? And why doesn't the hawk just take off since it's outside free.

It either has a really good relationship with its owner or they have leather straps around its feet like I’ve seen them do with golden eagles, either way the birds still let their owners take them, I think it’s more of a partnership rather than ownership, because if the bird wanted to it could just leave, but that one guy had his goshawk chipped, that’s why he had that metal antenna
where can i get those baby falcons so that i can raise and train them also..do you guys know where?
where can i get one off those birds from how much are thiy i need go hunting
Excuse me can I ask? What tracking device are you using? What is the name of its type of tracking device? Sorry my English is bad, because I am from Indonesia Thank you :)
Nice peaceful hunting!

They usually bring the bird, bottle of beer, telephone number for an attractive blond and say "there you go mate".

Why the hair clip on the tail feathers after the kill? To stop it flying away?
