Something similar happened to me 7 years back. I found a baby moose caught in the fence, no sign of momma so I worked and got her free. She walked along with me for half a mile. Then 2 years later she came to my place in the spring, had scars on her legs from the fence... in tow was her new baby. She was showing him off. They visit frequently. Animals are far brighter and more grateful than most people.

I'm no hunter myself, but my grandfather (a WW II vet, though he passed away back in 1995 from cancer when I was only about 8 years old, so I sadly don't have very many memories of him), parents, aunt, uncle, & cousins either are or were hunters, and I'm sure that all of them would have helped the deer as well. I would likewise have tried to help the deer. Hunter or not, it would just strike me as being morally "wrong" to just kill the deer when it was trapped and helpless like this.

@Kippertrace it's the law. If you're on a public lease, you have to wear one. Deer can't see orange. But other hunters can. It's for safety. I've stumbled upon deer in need of help. I get them going again and walk away. You don't want a deer to get used to you. It's doesn't give them a fair chance to survive. I usually carry paint in case I find one like that, so I can tag it so it doesn't get shot. It's unethical to harvest a creature that's not tip-top.

@@dethtour 👍 is that true? It makes sense then. But, I hunt, only on my own land in England, can you explain why we bother to dress in camo gear because deer have far superior sense of hearing, sight and most important...smell. I tend to see and get closest to roe deer mainly, when just rambling about in casual clothes. Dress in my belstaffs...not a bloody thing for days.😁

  • @dethtour

@Kippertrace it all depends on your local laws. Here in the USA, it differs from state to state. The vest it only for deer hunting, and it's only during season. Like for duck, bear, elk, and other game, you don't wear one. If you rent out your private lease to go hunt, you don't need one either.

If there's one thing I know about bucks, it's that they loveeee head scratches between the bases of their antlers. The way they wiggle their head whenever you do it is so wholesome 💗

@@bungeechord1 I thought it was rhetorical and implying more. You should look up what rhetorical means. Something tells me you are not smart enough to know the word. Probably due to your lack of original insults and the fact you need to ask a completely unnecessary and stupid question Also the answer is no. But most people with a brain would realize this. If you have evidence that suggests otherwise speak up otherwise shut your mouth.
