It was the middle of south lake Tahoe town proper. Down the street from my place. We have a problem with out of towners mostly (bay area) folks that thinks it's cute to FEED THEM. DON'T COME HERE AND FEED THE BEARS THANKS!

The human-bear relationship is fine. People don't realize how harmless bears are to people. Every species of bear in the world combined only kill an average of 3 people a year. That clerk could have walked up to it and smacked it in the face and its still unlikely she'd been harmed. A bear pretty much has to be wounded, startled or protecting its young to attack seriously. They mostly just growl then run. They just don't see us as food and if they live near humans they don't see us as much as a threat. Only polar bears would go after a person and the few people who live near them know what they need to know to stay clear of them.

We would have just put a shirt on him at my 711. We need workers.

He said, “Just gimme some food and nobody gets hurt”.

This is why the animal control where I live tranquilizes animals and relocates them away from human populations.
