    The mysterious creature was a fish? That's called click baiting, and it is both aggravating and dishonest. You are wasting people's time and deceiving them just to get a higher view count.

    We have lots of Sturgeon in the Columbia River. They can grow up to 10 feet long and live up to a 100 years. Although it's not legal to catch the larger sturgeon any more, the largest ever fished in the Columbia was 12 feet long.

    There's something big down there. When I lived at Tahoe, a friend called me and said, "Come over quick you've got to see this." He had been trolling on the lake when he hooked a 10 lb+ lake trout. He said as he was reeling it in he felt a big tug and then the line went slack. What he finally reeled in was a 10+ lb lake trout that was half gone. There was a big crescent shaped bite mark, and the back half of the fish was gone. Something is big enough down there to treat a 10 lb lake trout like a minnow.

    Thanks for sharing, I live on the water of low country. This isn't necessarily relevant but I once saw three large fish wash up missing their heads. What was odd though, it didn't look like the fish were decapitated by a bite or a fisherman's knife. The cuts were so flawless, it had laser-like precision. Even more odd, the minos and crabs completely ignored the free meal.

    @@a1uffy that's very strange...like alien strange. The old guy next door to my friend had lived at Tahoe since '49. He said after the transcontinental railroad was finished, some midwesterners brought back some native midwestern species and planted them in Tahoe. His bet was it was a 150 year old muskie that's grown to enormous size. For then on, I always thought about that when I went swimming in the lake.

  • @a1uffy

    @a1uffy

    @@LuckyBaldwin777 Jeez.. I mean Tahoe's depth is supposably nearing 2000 feet alone. To say a pike/musky (I really don't know the difference) could live that long from an old man's intuition should hold some weight and credence. The older I get, the more I have grown to listen, and take more literally that of first nation elder's stories. They have always had a far more intimate relationship with nature than most folk, especially from the western psyche. In relation to Tahoe, Paiute and Washoe have some crazy stories about creatures that inhabit the lake. The Paiute alone spoke about red hair giants thanks to Sarah Winnemucca who wrote down stories of her chieftain grandfather in 1882. It's hard to know what's going on and what true.

    @@a1uffy On the east side of Tahoe, at the base of the mountains is Carson City, Nevada. The bottom of Lake Tahoe is lower than Carson City. And it's filled, at least was originally, with melted ice from the last ice age. Amazing place. Actually I exaggerated. The fish would have been around a hundred years old when this happened. I asked the old guy about that and he said apex preditors live a long time whether they live on the land, in the water, or in the air. I think the main difference is muskies have pointy fins and northern pikes are rounded. A friend from Wisconsin told me about a guy that was fishing, sitting on the front of his boat with his feet in the water. A muskie came along and bit off his little toe. Yikes!

    @@LuckyBaldwin777 Yea that's no fun haha. I'd be so mad if I looked down and my pinky toe somehow went missing unbeknownst to myself at that given instance. I'm guessing they're just some freakish sized fish out there. (Age, genetic mutation, something from lore... who knows) I grew up going to a place called Lake Gaston in NC/VA. When I was around eight-year-old in the middle of winter btw. I was bord and casted out a large 3 1/2-inch lure to past the time. To my surprise, something grabbed it and dragged me 3 feet off my deck till I had to let go of the rod or fall into frigid waters. I may have been little and weak but whatever that was seemed unnatural to the lake.

Just look at the different life forms in the ocean that live that deep compared to the "fish" that live in the 300ft depth range and you'll see why this is a TREMENDOUS and extremely important accomplishment.

    "Underwater tunnels connecting to other lakes." Yeah, right. Unless that 0ther lake is exactly the identical water level above sea level, water would drain put of the higher elevation lake to the lower elevation lake. Some old folklore would say that someone who drowned in Lake A would sometimes body be found 100 miles away in Lake B. Lake B may be 500 feet lower elevation than Lake A but it makes for good story telling.

    Ok. Here is what caught my interest was what the Young man solved a on going issue. Small invention, or is adjustment to equipment. Something different and yes was 4 mins but not a waste of my time. To see how a young person can do a project an is cool to me. Really hope he does more. Thank you

    Sharks won't live in fresh water. It's probably a catfish. They like the deeper water. We used to fish the lake side of the spillway of my home lake we would catch catfish at about 300ft sometimes. Yes this is deeper but more plausible. Catfish look sharklike in the water.

    @CooterTravenport "Sharks won't live in freshwater." Seriously? Not likely in Lake Tahoe but ...come on man...surely you MUST know juvenile bull sharks most certainly can live in fresh water and are constantly caught in Florida rivers and on the Mississippi. Daily. They caught a big bull shark up IN ILLINOIS or OHIO on the Mississippi back decades ago. It had swum more than 700 MILES up river in the process. I saw a KZreadr catch a 4-footer on the Mississippi a few weeks ago. Bull sharks are one species of sharks that easily adapts to either salt or freshwater environments with regularity. Bull sharks are caught every day out of Lake Ponchartrain near New Orleans ...
