Why would they assume the bomb was planted by someone ON BOARD?! Makes far more sense it was planted by someone with access to the ship BEFORE it left....

The crew are just in shock and looking to place blame. Being sensible goes out the window when your spaceship is about to be bombed!

Why would the Orions care about Earth in an "origin" sense when they are well aware of the "true" origins of humans as a product of the federation's DNA engineering? How about a note on the population of Orions vs Humans? If the Orions are known and recognized in the Federation as a species, why were there early concerns about what the humans would be like in the Federation, as they live among them already? On a related point, in what way could the Federation be at all "impressed" by human DNA sequencing and cooperation when they, hundreds of thousands of years ago created humans through DNA manipulation? The awe of the Federation by the accomplishments of humans seems seriously over played.

How tf do the ambassadors not know about orions? Most of the federation species live 250+ years, yet they don't know about something that the federation did 150 years prior? on top of that Orions are literally WITHIN the federation as traders and explorers, like how?

Indeed. Also the focus on the tragedy of slavery is a bit excessive. It’s happened a 1000 hrs ago, by rouge elements of a gigantic federation, and the general feels pain and anger? Bit of a stretch. Understand a longing for information on history, or the emptiness of a distant forced change, a lost of potential. Interesting to see where this goes

@@jamesf333 It's quite possible that the "Federation" is a stand in for The united states, and Like politicians in WA District of Columbia. could be that ther out of touch with anything that happens outside the capital. And its clear that they have secrecy within the "Senators." Possibly based on oversight committee briefings. So like The US Congress the vast majority simply dont know, and or care. "Singel issue voters" If you would.

I get what your saying, but we live on this small rock called earth with 6 billion people, and still barely know anything about certain people's, culture, and events. The federation is made up of around 27 species, and probably have billions more than us, since they been around longer, and planets probably bigger(earth is relatively small actually). If we look at our own United Nations, we have the bigger nations G7 that control everything, then the smaller nations nobody knows about. This is kinda what the Galactic Federation sounds like, and the Orions are just a small displaced tribe(Native Americans), that was created, used, saved, and kinda forgotten about. I agree it's a bad look, not knowing that you already live among humans, I can see how it can happen though.

The only part of this darn good story that makes me go "wait what, why that reaction?" is the humans' surprise and shock that the Orions' abductions from earth; its just xeno-slave trade...? Like yeah, its bad and horrible that it happened, but learning of Xeno-slavery should hardly be surprising to ANYONE on this trip seeing as our own species engaged in slavery only a few hundred years ago 😅

I would like to suggest an analogy for the Orions. It probably is not perfect but….. Black people in America have lives and families and jobs in America, they consider themselves as Americans. Africa is a distant homeland, and there is the unpleasant history of slavery that brought them to America, yet very few black people would go back to Africa. The Orions have a unpleasant history of slavery that brought them into the wider galaxy. Yet they have settled in as citizens of the galaxy and have lives and families, and jobs. Some might go back to earth out curiosity.. visit as a tourist, but not stay. They have to get back home to the Galaxy.
