As we continue looking at the storied career of Hulk Hogan, we have now reached The Hulksters second year as leader of the nWo. Hogan was making an incredible amount of money in WCW, his incentives and bonuses made him the most well payed wrestler in the history of the business (at the time) and Hogan would do whatever was necessary to stay at the top of the WCW ladder.
This video takes a look at Hulk Hogan's biggest moments from mid 1997 to late 1998. We'll look at how Hogan dropped and regained the WCW title to Lex Luger at Road Wild 1997, the Piper vs Hogan cage match at Halloween Havoc, the Sting match at Starrcade and the rematch on Nitro the following night. We'll also look at Hogan vs Sting at Superbrawl, the circumstances that led to the nWo Wolfpac forming, Hogan vs Warrior at Halloween Havoc, Hogan vs Goldberg on Nitro and loads more.
Topics and matches covered include:
00:00 - Hogan vs Luger at Road Wild
03:28 - Sting vs Hogan
08:21 - The Mega Powers Explode in WCW
10:24 - The Great American Bash 98
11:15 - Goldberg beats Hogan for the WCW title
12:39 - Hogan vs Warrior
14:38 - Hogan announces his retirement and Starrcade 1998
- Much More!

This reminds me what a frustrating experience watching WCW was during this time. Fantastic build up, everyone looked great and there was so much promise but rarely any real change occurred, just the illusion of change. If only Hulk could have seen the bigger picture and not try and protect his own brand all the time. The only surprise was there was never any surprises. Ultimately WCW snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Hulk Hogan in 97/98 had a late 80’s to early 90’s face mentality. What I mean by that is, he was making creative decisions for himself as if he was the hero, and never grasped that, at some point or another, the heel has to eventually lose

He did lose several times but i agree he was too powerful for a heel took over wcw for years like a all powerful face does rarely lose.

There was a time in late '95 and early '96 when I hatred Hulk Hogan but when Hulk Hogan turned heel at Bash at the Beach 1996, it was one of the best thing that I liked and started loving Hollywood Hulk Hogan again.

@@LongHuynh-bx5ll I always loved antagonists in books and movies, many heel characters in wrestling and in real life I always say that I am the chief villain not the actor. In movies when the actor who is the nice guy receives a beating you see that the beating is artificial and exagerated. I like natural ones, one must have talent to play the chief villain.

Hearing that Savage tapped to Bret and then Piper blew my mind. Was never a big Macho fan, he was a little before my time, but hell the guy did business.
Starcade 97 happened on my 18th birthday. A bunch of my friends and I ordered the ppv and watched it at my best friend at the time's place. It was a pretty awesome night despite the finish of the match. I was so hyped. LOL. "Steve's too tanned brotherrrrrrrr."

Wow. WOW! A lot to take in but kinda figured out what was going on with Hogan's run in WCW
the match where luger beat hogan on nitro was the moment that made me become a wrestling fan at the young age of 9.

The night Luger won that belt was the first episode of wrestling I ever watched. i was 7 and i was hooked for the next 4 years. ill never forget that though.

Sweet, I was just watching some older videos on your channel :)

1997 my favorite year in wrestling, 3 companies doing bet u good work.
I never understood some booking decisions. If fans were gonna see hogan vs Luger for free on nitro, and Luger won, why should they pay to see them wrestle again at Road Wild knowing that likely hogan was gonna recapture the belt?
I still remember leaving reunion arena in Dallas tx wearing a NWO Hogan Shirt I seen Hulk and Dusty Rhodes. I got close to hogan after the show and told him I was his still a fan of him he signed my shirt and said I didn’t know I still had fans.
Great work. I really enjoyed this NWO recap.
Cool video
Do u put vids out every Sunday? I honestly haven't a clue of your schedule, and you are one of my favorite channels.
I think Bischoff crapped himself at Starccade 1997. I know people don't believe what he and Hogan have said about Sting being out of shape and a shadow of himself, but that does fit in with the timing of Stings personal issues. 18 months of buildup and the crowd in a frenzy, and they should ahve stuck to the plan, but they panicked.

Who makes the music for this channel? It’s always really good.
The nwo wolfpack was awesome faction
I agree with you. WCW should stop with NWO at that time. To match WWF , WCW should start with matches ECW styles. They had talent for it. But like you said Hogan was "running" the show and putting end on WCW.

This video gets and up
Never watched WCW like that but That Hogan vs sting match was probably the best build up in history. As a Die hard Wwf fan we still heard the rumblings of the match only thing close was the Rock vs Austin X7

Luger's win on Nitro was pretty fucken cool. That pop was awesome.
You should also do an in depth look at starcade 98. There is alot to unpack there
That opening remake of Voodoo child was BADASS, THAT COULD BE A GREAT ENTERANCE THEME.
