It’s an omelette when it turns out right...it’s a DECONSTRUCTED omelette when things go wrong. Lol Still tastes good.
Yolks of farm fresh eggs are darker because the hens have been eating lots of insect's where hens at commercial egg farms eat only prepared feed. Has nothing to do with freshness.

1:31 I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone actually pronounce the “l” in egg yolk
#1 mistake - overcooking (pretty much applies to all foods) mistake #2 - using metal utensils on your nonstick pan. Get a dedicated pan for eggs and only use a silicone spatula. Sure.. you can use chopsticks if you're thinking you need to impress everyone with how artsy fartsy you are... whatever. Everything you need to know about omelet cooking is in the Jacques Pepin vids on YT.
About the only thing i agree with in this video is the pan size and the number of eggs (3). My omelets come out perfectly every time and I don't do any of this nonsense.

I stopped watching as soon as she said separate the egg whites. What a crock of shit! Oh the irony, the last chapter is "Overcomplicating" Morons.
I love omelets. I like the "l" in yoLk being pronounced. I am going to make me an omelet right now. Thanks for the tips!
I have everything to make a great omlette except eggs and any type of fat or oil. Out of butter and oil but have eggs in milk jugs already beaten but real eggs, they have a CRAZY long shelf life in the fridge and get them from my local food shelf. So glad for them, my state has been funding and helping food banks and shelves like crazy since covid in my state. So helpful.
You don't need clarified butter for omelettes lol

Much of this was a joke
I just made an omelette on Sunday for breakfast. The cooked egg did break when I tried to put it onto the pan, so there might have been too much in the filling. I typically use bacon, cheese, and then saute some onions until the onions are translucent.
Just watch Jacques pepin make an omelette. No need all this nonsense of pancake batter and molecule structures

OMG! LOL! I call BS! I've been cooking and eating eggs for at least 65 years, always scrambled together and NEVER butter! I tried separating them - could not tell an ounce of difference!!! Except that it took too much time and more dishes to wash!! Definitely not for me!
You do not separate your yolks from your whites, give me a break. Watch Marc Pierre White, Jacques Pepin or Ramsey the great. None of these amazing chefs cook omelets in this manner. I am a professional chef and have never heard of this garbage...

Turn in the broiler, and stick the omelet under it to melt the cheese and set the egg on top. You won't have to flip it, then, and you can make the omelet as large as you want.

I was never able to pry his secret from him but they were heaven. Back, had to tell the wife sorry 'cause hers are second. lol I got a ham and cheese omelet and a bowl of chili, to pour over it, each night I worked. Just my $0.02
Making the mather of all omelettes, Jack. Can't fret over every egg.
Beating eggs as long as you can produces velvety, creamy omelets. It is in the beating!
Its sad that there are so many different comments disagreeing with different points-- All of theses are different ways to make an omelet-- I am looking forward to adding pancake batter in my next one. My ONLY complaint is that I love omelets so much that I think the spelling of the word should have more panache..."omelette" for example. Seems more French...no ?
I do support Alton Brown's method of heating and cooling

@@anastas6179 And the ingredients for an omelet, any omelet, is not just eggs. Restaurants do not list the entire recipe ingredients for items, so you are going to have to live with the fact that they are not going to cater to your whims. If you want to know if an item on the menu contains something specifically, it is up to YOU to ask.
Dont agree on the amount of eggs. I have used 4 & somtimes 5 eggs. Layer the toppings just right. Use olive oil instead of butter. I've found it's just patience when flipping the non topping side over the topping side. Never comes out as scrambled. And forget separating the egg whites. They make preparing a simple omelet complex. I also have an oversized spatula.
"You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs." -- The Joker.
Kind of a corporate omlette master class. No need to separate the eggs, strewth. Talk about over-egging the pudding.
The freshest egg will have the albumen running right now on the yoke at a higher level and thicker layer. Gone thru egg judging class before.
Hahaha! it's easy to cook a omelet except it's not!

An omelette is an omelette. Depends on what your preference is. These fancy chef omelettes are not what I like

I have a covered microwave pan that works like a fry pan. The food only cooks from the heat on the bottom of the pan not from the microwaves. If I use the food grade silicon insert with a slight amount of olive oil it is 100% stick free. Clean up is easy. To each his/her own though.
00:08 - From the movie Burnt.
You never separate the yolks from the whites when making an omelette! Life hacks? Are they chefs? Whisk your eggs till pale yellow!
I went to CIA (culinary institute of America) we were never taught to separate the eggs. This is just OPINION. Just like all your vids. Viewers: Take these vids/opinions with a grain of salt. I personally recommend Jacques Pepin vids. He saved Howard Johnson's from bankruptcy. Is a qualified french chef.
Huh, that’s not true and fresh eggs. The higher the album rises on the yoke, the fresher it is. The yellow yoke color is drawn from the the feet and beak which is place their by the feed the birds eat. Corn makes it yellow, in Texas they use millet which is white so the yoke is light. They charge more for brown eyes because the birds are bigger and eat more feed. In NYC, they were caught putting white eggs in coffee.
Can we avoid smell of eggs while cooking omlet?
Who would have thought that an omelette, (an IHOP omelette anyway) is NOT Gluten Free??!!

Don't like taco style omelettes, I want my ingredients cooked into the egg medium like a quiche. Also prefer the outside to be browned up. Then I piss the cook off by topping with Heinz catsup. Hot omelette makes the honey in the catsup pop.
