I loved the Hrothgal design. I was afraid they might go too anime pretty. You can make an attractive character from what we've seen, but I love the lioness energy. It's like the perfect new addition to the Thighlander/Femroe group.

I'm thinking they'll just lift the system WoW hunters have and just be able to tame most animals roaming around or in dungeons. Makes me wonder if we will get to tame hunt marks.

​@Draylin41 I suspect it'll be more like GW2 with a menagerie type system of tameable animals. Otherwise it makes balancing ridiculous, plus BLU can only learn specific spells, not every one in game. I like the Pictomancer as a job but the graphics aren't immersive with the style they are currently.

Hrothgals look amazing and pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. Tall strong lioness-like in appearance. Male Hrothgar, only feminine and refined. I was so worried they'd get the similar treatment that Aur Ra got - Big strong males but dainty females (no shade thrown at Au Ra of course, they look great). My WoL is currently a Viera and I absolutely love how she looks right now. But her last name literally means "Earth Tiger" so there ya go. Now the question is if Hrothgals have a tiger-like fur pattern...

I still see myself going Viper for Dawntrail, but Pictomancer is more than enough reason to get excited for it at the same time, such vibrancy and lovely animations! And just in general Dawntrail seems like it’s going wildly different than what the trailers would have us believe.

@@VashimuXIV Astro is an interesting healer. Dont use it as much as Sage but the chaos of needing to manage many things at once its fun in its own right

I don't even play the game, but I can really feel the excitement the fans have for every announcement. Makes me think if I should play the game.

It’s worth giving a try. The ARR story is a bit of a chore to get through, at least it was for me. But overall it’s an enjoyable game with a pretty good community. I’d say try the free trial and see whatcha think☺️

You should. The free trial goes up until Stormblood iirc. Maybe create a character and see if you enjoy the story.

I do like the look of Hrothgals but I think I'll stick with my Au ra. Maybe I'll create an alt though so I can get familiar with all their unique animations. My opinion might change when they release the Benchmark and we get access to their character creation.

You do know that you can create up to 160 alts if you spread them across all data centers since there's a limit of 40 per data center? Yeah that's way too much but there's really no reason not to have at least 1 alt of each race.

I had hoped that the female Hrothgar would look like Khajiit and the sheer joy I felt at the reveal was indescribable. I can finally continue creating new stories with my character that began in the Elder Scrolls games. I am gonna need some new journals for this! And as an artist in real life, I am excited about the pictomancer. I am still a learning with art but my goal is to one day do an oil painting with my ESO and FFXIV together, and with the female Hrothgar and pictomancer, I can finally visualize how they will look together. :)

Beastmaster has the potential to be a lot more linked to crafting and gathering. Making jug pets and pet food.

That two dye system is the single most exciting thing about this for me, like, disproportionately so.

Super excited for Hrothgal! Super excited for Pictomancer! Super excited for Graphics Update! Everything else, I'm sure I'll be excited for when it gets here, but I'm still just nearing the end of Shadowbringers. So everything else doesn't mean much to me yet, lol. For the graphics update, I noticed the tatoo's colouring is greatly improved! I'm hopeful this means they've also cleaned up the makeup, specifically for darker skinned characters. You basically need to use the darkest colours for it to not be jarring/bright against the skin. Even if they added a transparency/saturation slider that would be a huge improvement!

The proper way to take in a Fanfest keynote is surrounded by people who share in the hype...and I gotta say, Avy's stream delivered! It was a lot of fun hanging out. It's ride-or-die hrothgal time. In Summer 2024 the catgirls become catWOMEN. My only dilemma is, do I stick to my current, kinda musclehead WoL, or do I try to make a lady hrothgar who's got a veneer of intellectualism over the feral soul? (the answer is probably going to be based on whether or not they can wear glasses)

Log out in Gridania Inn. Day 1 of Dawntrail: fantasia to Hrothgal. Pick up Pictomancer and give it a good go. To to Limsa and hang with all the cat people. Decide wtf to main during Dawntrail, lol. That's my plan!

Summer cannot come sooner I tell ya! So far this is shaping up to be one loaded expansion from what we’ve seen so far :D

Also I think you forgot to mention, but Yoshi P said that with Dawntrail, the starter racial gear will also be updated to the new graphics (you can see it when they showed the "old vs new" previews), which is something I love since some of those sets look so amazing but it's hard to use since they look super dated compared to the current gear. Since Dawntrail will be a "new start", with this news I feel like starting my new adventure with the new updated racial gear to signify a new start. With this news, I hope this could also mean that SE will eventually update the older gear in the game. If this was the case I assume they won't update everything at lauch but similar how they've updated Duty Support or how they told us they will update the older zones so they meet the new graphic standards. Maybe as 7.x patches arrive, they will add updates to the older gear? Because at this point, the only thing that wouldn't be updated from the old version of the game (visually) would be the gear, since the graphics update will affect pretty much everything eventually (zones, NPCS, etc) so it would make sense that updating the starter racial gear also signifies that older gear will eventually get a graphics update too, though realistically it could also mean they're just updating the starting racial gear because they want new characters in character creation to look good, but at the same time you can also see Job gear in character creation, so maybe, if they start updating older gear, they started with starter racial gear and next step is to update Job gear? And I loved how Fem Hrothgar look, I felt like I liked them more when we saw them how they look in-game.

I've been recommended a few of your videos now and the first thing that stood out to me was your voice. It's very pretty and there's an accent there that I was completely unfamiliar with. I finally got curious enough to simply look at your bio on KZread and it says that the country of origin is Türkiye which enlightened me to something else that I didn't know as I'd always heard the country referred to as "Turkey" but now I'm curious if it's actually not pronounced like that and maybe it's more of a Japanese pronunciation which is why it's spelled that way.

Haha, a simple Google search mentions that this nomenclature was adopted by the country in 1923 and was pushed to become the officially recognized standard back in 2021. You truly do learn something new everyday.

I'm really excited for this expansion. I can't wait to try the new jobs! Might change one of my characters to a hrothgal just because.

I've been a femroe since i started playing 2 years ago and have never used a fantasia. I love how the hrothgals have turned out and I'm excited to play as one, but I'm so torn on whether to make an alt or try my first fantasia. I love my roe as she is, I'm scared I'll regret the change

I would recommend make an alt *first* and after playing it for a month-ish see if you want to make your main Hroth-gal ^^

I see there is a lot of connections to Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy 10 with Tobli thrown into the mix. I love the city. It reminds me of the Underground City from Space Battleship Yamato. Overall, I am excited to see what is going to happen within the next series.

I couldn't change my main to a completely different race, after so many hours that is their story! That being said, I have a free alt spot I can make a new character on! ;)

A commenter on another thread thought the Pictomancer spells looked Moogleish. Another thought that made sense as the job starts in Gridania. Also, both the character and Kryle have a playful style that fits the Moogles. Did Kryle’s butterflies remind anyone else of the Mesmer in Guild Wars 2? Pictomancer could easily become a favorite job.

League of legends released a character recently, Hwei, who has nearly the same characteristics about the new art class that we see in the trailer. What a coincidence.

Some have noted that the signs in the futuristic city uses the written language of the pre-sundered world.

Collection for Beastmaster is going to be collecting monster.... I bet anyone. I hope they can add mimic next, and allow the character to transform into monsters/bosses as the collection. or make a Duelist character that uses the Triple Traid cards you have as summons (like yu-gi-oh), summoning them to unleash an attack. But honestly tho, they should of linked the Beastmaster job to isle Sanctuary, putting it to use where you can take the beast you capture there, have them breed and etc....

I think I'm one of the few people that feel like Krile shouldn't have been given the Artist class when Alphinaud is already shown to be a dab hand at art. 😔

I hope when the graphics update comes I can still run the game. I cant afford a new laptop nor a new pc, my specs is kinda dated now but I just hope, hoooope I can still run this game. I just got into FFXIV on December and I love it.

That's a good idea, giving every player a free Phantasia with the graphical update. It ensures every player will benefit from the change. Otherwise, some minor alteration from the update might leave your character not looking as good to you. I personally don't anticipate changing much, because I do really like my Flatlander as-is, but I might see what little tweaks are available for her.

I feel like every job type should have at least one class with a unique casual trait…bard and its instruments, pictomancer should have some small art program…wouldn’t know what else to use tho

Exciting for the lifting competitors for the woman's division to get some fresh faces. I love all my femroe and thighlander sisters, but we needed some fresh faces.

I started playing the game as an Au Ra because they had 'horns' and a tail, like my old main character from WoW. Went to femroe after 5.0 MSQ because I missed the height more. Probably going to jump straight to Hrothgal because that whole 'can tear you apart' energy. Also I'm a furry bastard. And when you think about it, furries are just biological transhumanism, just instead of cyborg parts and mind/machine interfaces you got fur and teeth and tails.

I didn't like the Hrothgar female faces. The first one looked derpy as F hehe but I've never been a fan of furries or any small kids looking races like Lala. The creepiest mmo kids race was the Elins from Tera And pictomancer makes me worry about the sound and spell effects as I really did not like them and think hearing that Splatoon/Fall Guys sounds on every cast will drive me nuts in a long raid night xD Others than these, the expansion looks extremely interesting and fun :)

I don't like pictomancer tbh. I prefer classes that are a bit more "serious." Even the WHM, AST, and DNC take themselves seriously, but the Pictomancer looks like it belongs in a different game altogether. If you're interested in the class, more power to you. I don't want to take away someone else's enjoyment, but I personally don't like it.

I saw someone mention that it looks like Viper was originally designed around the gameplay first, then had the appearance and style built around that. Whereas pictomancer was picked for its style, then has had gameplay built around that. If so, I'm down for that duality of styles. You've got the gameplay-focused one for the people who are only interested in how a job plays, then you've got the stylistic one for the people who prefer form over substance.
