A bear grows to be that BIG and hasn’t mauled anyone… yet. He doesn’t deserve to die for being a bear. Send him off to a sanctuary if you can find and catch him. He seems smarter than the people there evading capture and not getting killed breaking into peoples houses.

Most cases of an animal loosing it's fear of humans is a very bad thing, but this one seems to have yet display one single sign of aggression. I think people would have to act extremely stupid around him to get hurt. He only cares about our pantries, he dosn't regard us as competing predators. He needs to be contained somewhere he can live normally, but he dosn't need to die.

He has a medical issue to make him skip hibernation like this. Capture him and do some tests on him. It looks like hypothyroidism.

I would say so! I lived in Alaska and that's by far the biggest Black Bear I've ever seen! He looks like a Black Bear trapped in a Grizzly's body!😂🤣 Poor Hank!

You're right and you're wrong. I guarantee you he is highly unhealthy and extremely obese. But California black bear have never fully hibernated during winter. Especially now that our winters are broken up with large warm spells.

Furthermore he has no fear. These people have ultimately doomed this animal. He would likely not survive on his own. He will always seek human beings and ultimately it will lead to a tragedy.

Gentrification has forced Hank to live in a food desert. As long as Hank doesn't steal more than $900 worth of stuff per home, Hank should be free to rob and steal as much as he want. Maybe, maybe not. People leave trash out and they eat food from the trash. It would be hard for one single individual to afford enough food to feed him to be 350lbs. It’s not like feeding a human to be 350lbs, which would still be expensive. He is an active bear with twice the stature of some humans, he eats more than humans.
