Comparing the new Huawei P30 Pro versus the Mate 20 Pro, still our favourite phone in 2019. We've been hands-on with the new flagship handset and it's even better than the Mate, improving on the specs and camera hardware in a number of ways - while bringing back our favourite features from the previous model.
The P30 Pro has completely overhauled optics for one. You still get an ultra-wide angle and telephoto lens, but Huawei has boosted the optical zoom to 5x thanks to the periscope design. Plus, the new Super Spectrum capture means brighter, more realistic photos and video.
Both the new 2019 flagship and last year's Mate 20 Pro sport the Kirin 980 chipset and Huawei's EMUI 9.1 software, as well as 40W Super Charge and full wireless charging support. They also share an OLED display with in-screen fingerprint sensor, furthering the similarities in this comparison. However, the new P30 Pro ditches that earpiece speaker for the new Electro Magnetic Levitation vibration feature.

The Face Unlock on the Mate 20 Pro is much more secure and works of course in darkness.

The only thing I'm truly jealous of, is the 50x camera zoom feature. Other than than I think I'm fine with my Mate 20 Pro which I will recommend any day.

My brother has a mate 20 pro and it's too curvy and the notch is quite big. Rather than that it's a beautiful and all rounder device

Yeah, seems to be the only difference beside the design. It's odd since here in Norway, the mate 20 pro currently is around 50 dollars more expensive and the p30 pro comes with a watch.

Please do a comparison of the standard P30 camera and Mate 20 pro, same aperture, so the only difference physically is the sensor, will be cool to see how much more light it can suck up! Also, great vids! Keep it up!

Great video. I had Samsung for years and then converted to iPhone for the 6, 7 and IPhone X but looking at going back to android and this phone here has blown me away.

Q: Does the Huawei Mate 20 x comes with a nice superzoom 50x zoom for filming and taking pictures just like what the P30 does ? (Note: When filming and taking photos on 50X zoom means you can not record/pictures in 4K but you can if you set it up as 1080 under settings.)
I have a couple of doubts about P30 pro. -this time always on display has notifications? -where are the ambient light and proximity sensors? Thanks! PS: the camera bump is still there even with the in box case?

@@waelhussien6528 the problem with the p series is they use the older chipset when that was in the previous mate series for example since u have a mate 20 pro its actually better u have a 2k display same chipset as the p30 pro and it only has 1080p display the mate 30 pro is the one that will have eather the newer 985 or 990 krin chip set and a 2k display the p30 pro only has camera improvements that's it not worth it when u have a mate 20 pro

I'm in love with my Nova 3. 300euros and what a great camera, display.. Everything I need. But still very interested in all the new devices.. My point is that you don't always have to pay for a flagship to get everything you need.

You're right. Huawei's lower end phones work extremely as well. I bought Nova 4 for my parents. They are very happy with that. All work very well.

Did just switch from a 5.3 QHD LG 16:9 G5 to a 7.2" FHD+ 2:1 Mate 20 X Don't notice it. But the G5 is nice for VR, at which it is still pixelated af. I've got to say that I absolutely hate "low" - res and I am quite picky about that. As long as the subpixelmatrix isn't a diamond FHD is enormous. Looking for difference I am able to see slight pixelcorners if I hold the phablet ~4cm close to my eyes which is the closest distance I can focus.
I'll stick with my mate 20 X

im still so undecided. for me, camera is a big selling point, i need one thats going to take the most stable and crisp pictures aswell as good sound playback when watching films on it, which do i get? only about £8 a month more for the p30
Watched on mate 20 pro :) nice review but i am very satisfied wiht my mate 20 pro and i will change it only when i really need. Buy the way i'm sure that the new p30 pro is great as any High end huawei phone last 2-3 years. Nice to see they going forward.

The mate 20 pro has a Corning gorilla glass 5. But what about the p30 pro ?
Believe it or not I'm still with my Lumia 950xl. I always have the eye on Huawei phones, for some reason I considered them like lumias... I was thinking to by the Mate 20 Pro but now with this new 30s it put me thinking. But I think I'm still going with Mate 20 Pro almost the same and more economic. However Mate 30 Pro have a estimate release date?

Wireless charging "duel": The Mate20 had 61%, and the P30 had 81%, so I consider that was totally normal - charging from the one with the most capacity ;)

I don't think it's necessary. Unless you want a better camera. Mate 20 pro is a great phone. Maybe wait until the mate 30 before you upgrade. I have the moto z2 play, so upgrading to a p30 is necessary. But you already have a great phone with good specs so in my opinion I wouldn't upgrade. That's just my opinion though. Idk how your experience with the mate 20 pro has been.

It's the Amoled display making it flicker. The mate 20 was flickering too, it's just harder to see. But you only see it on camera. In person it doesn't do that

All of them have roughly the same battery life. P20 = 3400mah | P20 Pro = 4000mah | Mate 20 = 4000mah | Mate 20 Pro = 4200mah | P30 = 3650mah | P30 Pro = 4200mah

I can get a mate 20 pro 256gb used for around $650, while I can get a p30 pro used for around $900 locally. Which would you guys choose?
I personally want a super camera and a super amoled screen with no notch No need for a selfie camera imo (some people definetley want it but whatever make a pop up camera) I also want as fast charging as possible

Mate 20 pro is easy better considering the features and cost... No major difference between both devices to justify the cost
My Google Pixel XL is finally crapping out after 2 years, I think...now I have to decide if I upgrade to he Mate 20 Pro now, or try my very best to wait it out for the Mate 30 Pro. D: I don't know how much longer this phone will hold on.

I have the mate 20 pro. I really like the look of the p30 pro and I'm sure the 📷 is an upgrade but I don't think I can live without the IR face unlocking. It's the best phone I've ever experienced for unlocking, most of the time you cannot tell it's actually locked.

The faceunlock on the mate is just amazing. Also, the mate has its own design with the rear cameras. The p30 looks like a iPhone from the back and like a Samsung from the front.
Why is his mate 20 pro screen số bright? If i set mine below normal luminousity i will be so damn dark, almost unusable

@@receptaflan6902 not really, its just similar refresh rate. for example if phone screen refresh at 60hz, and camara also shooting around 60 hz, or 120hz or 180hz. you will see it flicking. it does not matter who is faster. give you another example, camara shooting at a helicopter, some time you see the spinning part of helicopter is static and the helicopter is in the air. Thats also because of this.

I am only jealous because of the amazing camera zoom and about night mode at this P30 Pro.But atm I love the features of Mate 20 Pro,features as Dolby Atmos Stereo Sound,Face Unlock,qHD screen,more pixel density.By far,I hope that Huawei will fix the finger print unlock with an update.
3:24 the p30 started charging the mate 20 is because at that time p30 had more % of battery than mate 20

Why is no one comparing the camera between the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro? I’ve seen plenty of comparisons between other devices but it comes across as if Huawei has told reviewers not to compare the M20P and P30P for some reason. Maybe they’re too similar?

I took p30 pro 128/ 6gb having in mind a 2-year span, it's just a bit more expensive than mate 20 pro. Honestly, I skimmed through the prices, and price difference is like 60 euros, I easily shell out that much for a better camera. If every cent counts, I would be looking at p30 if you're okay with a bit smaller device (i think that's a plus) and no wireless charging- same chip and processor, battery life nearly identical, better camera than mate 20, but very close to p30 pro, a headphone jack, other than that they are almost clone-like. And p30 costs exactly the same as mate 20.
I'm trading up from a Samsung S6 edge to the Huawei P30 pro. Should be quite an upgrade...
