Thank you for this comprehensive walkthrough video. I just added an extra 8 GB of RAM and your video was so detailed that it allowed me to look out for some easy overlooks. I inadvertently disconnected my network card from the motherboard and it was a pain to reconnect the antenna connections but I got it done. Also, the connection to the display monitor was kind of tricky in order for the screen to function. Lastly, those three ribbon connections for the keyboard doesn't allow for much space to work with so patience is key. I know I'll be opening up the computer again to upgrade to an SSD drive (currently it has an SAS) but in my case, it will not call for me to remove the motherboard so it won't be as involved next time around. Thanks again!

Thank you for this very helpful video. It enabled me to feel confident enough to upgrade the ram on my 15" HP Pavilion laptop. It also showed where the problem was when my WiFi no longer worked after reassembly (The Wifi card had come adrift from the MB), so all in all an excellent video.

You should really learn how ZIF connectors work. 99% of the time the ribbons are tabbed. You need to lift the ribbon about 90 degrees and the tabs will lift out and disconnect. You should never have to pull on them, and where you were having problems at the 11:00 mark, was because you were doing it wrong. Your method can ruin the tabs, which is what seats them perfectly in place. The cover then locks them down.

Thanks for the detailed review, it helped a lot. Especially the moment with the WiFi card🤦🤣 The first time I disassembled the laptop itself, I spent 2a hours in total. I added 8gb of ram and changed the thermal paste. If they wrapped the board on the other side, as in some models, it would be much easier))) but maybe it’s better, given that sometimes the keyboard gets a load from the hands)))

At 9:58 in the video, you can see that there is a SATA slot that is currently unused in this model, which is the same model I own. I'm curious if it's possible to install a 2.5" SSD in the empty disk bay and connect it to the unused SATA slot using the purple SATA cable that you began to disconnect at 10:46. Interestingly, this purple SATA cable appears to have the same serial number as the one mentioned in the manual for adding a second disk. The only issue I've encountered is that the cable that came with the laptop lacks the SATA connector required to connect it to the SSD, as it only has the part that connects it to the motherboard. I know that there are easier ways to do this, but I already have an SSD and I wanted to upgrade my 14m-b and I can't afford a new M.2. or an official sata cable for this specific laptop model thanks for your time! amazing video

That m.2 slot got me so confused. Mine is the same laptop except when I flipped it, it doesn't have a pre-installed ssd on that m.2. What makes it worse is it has a label on the board that say "msata 1". So does an m.2 nvme will actually work or is there a different kind that I should buy?

That's an incredible tutorial. Very easy to follow up. One question. How can I add a sata ssd if there's those little black block ( you show it at 10:00) in the place where it is supposed to go? It goes above it ? I was afraid of force it out. And can I connect it with any flat cable or just for hp pavilion x360 ? do you recommend any please ?

Is there a specific designation of M.2 SSD to buy? I bought one and it's not working. M.2 SSD we got: Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe 4.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2 our pc: HP Pavilion x360 14m-ba011dx But we could also be improperly cloning.

Many of the x360 (mine included) have the slot for a 2.5" hard drive, but have a M.2 SDD instead. You could add the 2.5" drive, but would need to get the specific cable from HP to go from the motherboard to the 2.5" hard drive.

Hi, i have the same HP. I wanna expand the memory ROM as you, but not using onohet SSD M2. I wanted to use an SSD SATA 2.5 inch. I see in your video that there's a hole on the body of the pc to the similar size of this memorys, this space is for this SSD or im wrong? To be honest i don't have any idea about this stuffs, for example i don't see a SATA port in the motherboard. Thanks

There is a port on the motherboard for the cable to put a HD in that 2.5” bay. If the laptop does not ship with a drive in that slot, it does not come with the cable. Check the service manual for the part number.

@ The Nerd Is In, is that the reason why when I installed a 2.5 ssd in that empty space with a cable that I purchased on eBay didn’t work? I ended up getting a different cable and also didn’t work. I tried using a different hard drive and also didn’t work. I have to buy that cable directly from HP in order to add that second 2.5 inch drive? Thanks in advanced.

Hello, I have a similar laptop. I just want to examine the fan because it has been making a bit of noise. I'm hoping that it just might need some cleaning or that wires are close to the fan and just need to be adjusted. I have a cover on my laptop but instead of it being ovalular, it's circular and I've never opened the cover. Is there any gentle way of popping the cover up for me to get to the last screw?
