HP PAVILION G4 take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly
Ғылым және технология
Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP PAVILION G4 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
This video is like insurance for your laptop. With this video and some skills you will be always sure that at least you can try to repair your laptop. If it's broken you don't have to sell it or throw it away. You can find some new or used parts somewhere and change it. It maybe will be your new job or hobby. And if it didn't worked out you still will be able to ask somebody else to fix it.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
Have fun and good luck!!

Thanks for the great video. I just took apart my g4 with your help. Mine is just a little different. In disassembling , I found my g4 was overheating, NOT because of the fan, but because of the thermal paste, or lack thereof, on it's CPU. Sure, it was a little dusty in there, but not enough to cause 'system shutdown'. Runs like a charm now. Thanks again for your help.

Joseph170 aaaaaand I finally did this. NO thermal grease left on the CPU. The idea of putting this back together is just depressing.....just gonna by another one. This time it WON'T be an HP.
Hi, it is more likely connecter at webcam. You may need to remove a front bezel and check if it is connected. If you see picture on a screen, means it connected well on motherboard. Because a webcam cable is attached to video cable. You just really need to be sure that this isn't drivers or something else like that.
I found this video helpful. I just easily took apart on Pavilion without problems! Thanks for your help and effort!

+yurion88 you are welcome!
To start you can try canned air via fan if you remove a keyboard, but it is pretty limited space. Make sure you will prevent fan from rotating because blades can be damaged. There can be a lot of dust and it will be a little tricky to take it out. Also it will be not a complete cleaning. Anyway it is possible....
Quite Helpful Dude! Keep it Up!
Thanks Regazzz, good video and very helpful to fix a keyboard problem. Maybe label the screw sizes and where they go to help people when putting back together.
Thanks for this. It was very helpful, although I did find myself wishing for a little commentary as you went along.
Thank you, helped me to disassemble.
thanks man for helping us out
thanks so much for uploading this vedio ..this is very helpful for me
thank you, you helped me a lot
ty for ur video...now i have to put back 4 screw which i thought would open up easily to clean up fan
Hi, thanks! It can be bad fan or there can be still some dirt in it, unless you opened it and cleaned very well.
it was very usefull.thanks
Thanks so much for this
Thanks. That was cool.
Thanks for advice! Knife is already damaged :) Anyway it is thin and last longer than any other plastic tools...
Thanks, I have few old Fujitsu laptops, not sure if you need this...
Tanks! Help a lot!
Ok, I don't know when I will get this one, but if I will, it will first on uploading list (but again, I don't know when)
my laptop first used to have a crackling noise from the fan, then a few days later, it just became a never ending loud sound from the fan. i watched this video, wanted to open up my laptop, so i first tried closing my laptop and shaking it around. now theres no noise hahahahah
@regazzz it dosen't start anymore, but theres is a flashing led like "charge the bettery"
Great vid. But probably i will have to download, edit and play from the end to begining to make sure that i wont forget any screw out hahahaha. Tks a lot man.
Thank you very much!
hola gracias por subir el video yo tengo una igual a esa y me preguntaba si es posible cambiarle el microprocesador o es que acaso va soldado a la tarjeta madre??
What about your adapter, does it work? It sounds similar like it will be on the battery but battery is almost dead. There can be most likely a different reason because adapters are more solid then motherboard etc.
hey there, i recently commented on other of your videos, thank you for answering that quick! but now I have another question about this pavilion. what do i have to take just for cleanning the fan?
que bueno me sirvió de mucho!!1
hey there, i recently commented on other of your videos, thank you for answering that quick! but now I have another question about this pavilion. Do I have to take all the other parts to clean the fan?
Muy buen tutorial, unos de los mejores que he visto.

hola sigues vivo ?
Have a good luck!
it can be a little different one, I am not sure what exactly model it was :)
Hi, can you place this cable as it shown on 2.56? It should workout like that.
Hi regazzz thanks for the video. Is the heat sink directly attached to the cooling fan? My fan is very loud and I am planning on replacing it. Will a replacement fan attach to the heat sink or is this one part? Thanks.
is the same for every G4 hp laptop? I've got a 1175la
yes it is so sad greetings from mexico
If it overheat and shut down, dirty fan and heat sink is a main reason. If you are sure you can do that - do it. Make sure to replace thermal paste too.
THANKS!!!
Hey man, Firstly, nice video! I have a problem with my laptop fan. It's the exact same model as the laptop in this video. It gives off a really choppy noise, but I've already cleaned the dust using a vacuum. Any ideas on how I should approach this problem? I suspect the fan is loose and not performing to it's maximum capabilities, because there is very little air being blown out. Thanks!
You may still unscrew heatsink from the motherboard. But it should be possible to remove fan from heatsink.
Hello, overheating can be a reason of laptop shutting down. You will need to do pretty much everything the same. If it si very dirty, you will need to remove a motherboard and clean fan and heatsink, but at the start you can remove a keyboard and try to use a canned air. Don't let fan blades rotate a lot, because they can be damaged easily. Also remove battery and unplug from power source.
Some plastic parts can be broken while that process. Or you can shock the motherboard if you will not wear antistatic device (better wired) Careful with connectors. This plastic locks that hold cables in place can be very fragile. Remember where screws coming from and how cables were placed. But if you are not sure - ask professional technician.
maybe even A8 will work. but to make sure you need to dig in to specs of mobo and cpu.
Hi there! excellent video, and the thing that it has no music is very helpfull, can i ask, i have this laptop witch an AMD chipset, it does not appear nothing on the monitor only fan spinning and lights on, i suspect that it must be overheated on the chipset like most compaqs whit the internal graphics issue, did you heard anything or did you know anything about that in this laptop? best regards!
Muy gracias!
My laptop is this same one,at times it shuts down because of overheat. Do i need to clean the fan for that matter?
Hello, if you will remove a keyboard, you will have a partial access to a fan, you may use canned air, to blow dust away. Hold fan blades to make sure it will not be damaged. If you want to replace a fan, you may consider to open it up and remove motherboard and don't forget to re apply a thermal paste.
Hi! keyboard palmrest and after that everything depend on how dirty it is. If you will remove a palmrest, you will have a pretty good access to a fan. Have a good luck!
Do I need to remove the RAM and other stuff to open it and clean the fan? Or do I only need to remove the harddisk and dvd rom?
Do you know if the pavilion g4 series have mSATA slot? Thanks.
Hello sir. I have the exact same laptop as you, I was able to follow your steps in the video until the keyboard part..Iam having trouble with removing the keyboard. How did you do it exactly??? I really need to clean my laptop's fan.
Hi bro! Umm just wanted to ask a quck question, what if i'm just tryna clean up the fan or whatever you need to clean for it to go a little quicker? Cuz mine is slacking and I believe it's dusty
hi bro i have a question do you know a easier way to change the fan?
Does laptop powers on, but you don't see anything on the screen, or it doesn't start anymore?
Hello, sorry for such a late response, what exactly did happen to this screw?
Thanks
It looks like I have to disassemble a lot of stuff to clean up the fan. Is there an easier way to do it?
I am sure it can, what is a motherboard number? (look by the memory XXXXXX-001)
hi there, do you know what is the clock generator (PLL) in this motherboard? I look foward to hearing from you, thank you!
i am going to clean my g4 laptop inside, in your video you takeout the keyboard, do i really do that if im going to open my laptop to clean the vent and someparts inside? my laptop is automatically shutdown,i think overheating is the major problem of that. am i right? please help me.
Do you know whether the keys can be taken off the keyboard and then replaced? I would like to clean underneath them.

Suresh G Thank you!
Can you advise me on how to disassemble the System Fan? There is a warning on Bios for System Fan during startup. URGENT.
thanks sir..........................
It's the same with the disarmament process "hp pavilion 2082la g4"?
Hi, you are welcome!
I'm trying to get to the CMOS battery, but I can't seem to remove the first panel. I find and unscrew two screws, but there is still a lot of resistance when I try to remove the panel. The two screws I can see are the one in the upper left corner and the one on the right. Is there one in the middle? Your video skipped over the removal of it.
Hi, I have a question, I want to disassemble my laptop to do some cleaning, but I think isn´t the same model I have. My laptot is an HP g4-2082la. Tell me if I can disarm in the same way or not. I hope your answer (:
una consulta amigo que prosesador le podria poner.para mejor el rendimiento a mi pavilion g4
Hey, i have a question: the processor from HP G4-2116BR (AMD A6-4400m) is located in the same place that appear on notebook from the video? cause i intend to change for A10-4600m. thanks!
Hi bro ! It's the same with the disarmament process "hp pavilion 2082la g4"?
At the start removing keyboard and try out to blow away dust with canned air will be enough. If this will not help - open up, remove motherboard, take fan/heatsink out and clean it. Re apply thermal paste, and put everything back.
Hey my g4 is being weird for some reason the screen wont come on when i turn it on. but it was working fine yesterday... do you happen to know what it could be? also when im taking it apart is it ok to just unattach the hard drive like you do at 29 seconds? will it hurt or clear the hard drive or anything? jw
does it have an extra slot for the expansion of RAM?
everytime (when login) when i press any letter on the keyboard (looks like if had pressed like 3-4 times). Replacement keyboard?
Can the Processor (CPU) be upgraded on the G4 ? if so what can it handle ?
It seems that the cpu is upgradable. Does the gpu upgradable too?
May I know what is the brand the screwdrivers you use. Thanks You
Hey do you know what type of socket the g4 cpu is I'm trying to find a compatible cpu but I don't want to take it apart just to find what type of socket
What exactly are you trying to remove? Palmrest?
You are welcome!
Did you plugged cables back? If yes, maybe reinstall drivers, but this shouldn't be a problem...

Hello, sorry for such a late response ... if you still need to replace your keyboard (I hope you already did it, but IF) I have a second channel LaptopRepairAid, there you can find a video on how to replace a keyboard only...
I tried opened mine to clean the fans but after putting everything back and making sure of the connections, I received a black screen with the wlan and power leds on. How can I fix this?
Do you need to take everythibg apart just to replace the screen?
After cleaning the fan and putting them on back together. it booted up with automatic repairs, and its so long (1 hr and its still diagnosing) and after i forced it to shutdown, i cant open it anymore, no ligh, no aound, no nothing. What do you think is the problem? Pls help. Tnx

i try to remove all the screw, but an of this is locked, i can remove it, i try a lot of times but is so hard, what can i do ?
i am positive it isn't the drivers, if its possible, can you give me the steps to how i can check if the ribbon is loose? ( how to take my laptop apart safely ) tbh im 16 and i cant afford a new laptop if i break this one lol.
To get to a CMOS battery you mean?
Sorry for such a late response, if keyboard will be removed, you can check fan, but it will be hard...
With HP, you never know :) If you never did this before and this is your last laptop at this moment - I would definitely ask friends and relatives maybe they know someone, some technician who can do that at take all responsibilities over his shoulders. There is no easy way. On my other channel "LaptopRepairAid" you may find a video how to remove a front bezel from LCD and after that you will be able to check if web cam is connected or not. Just make sure your laptops looks the same...
Oh, very sad to hear that. I think you may find a used power button on ebay or via Google and replace it. It is not super expensive! I hope you will fix this issue!
