HP 15-CS Laptop - How To Remove HDD and Install SSD

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I show you how to take apart the HP 15 CS series laptop, open the housing, swap out the HDD hard disk drive for a SSD solid state drive to make my laptop fast and put it back together again.
as well as create a Windows recovery disk, reinstall Windows from the recovery disk and get your PC back in working order as quick as possible after installing the new solid-state drive.
even if your laptop is not a15c s series, this video applies to a lot of laptops in the same Hewlett-Packard family of laptops, this is the newest version of the house laptop series.
if you only need to know how to open or take apart the laptop then that is the first part of the video you can stop there, putting it back together is the reverse order of taking it apart.

My i5-cs0053cl is identical to this, but doesn't have the dual fan setup...but it has the space for it. Has anyone upgraded to the dual fan that is shown on this video? I know 2 fans would be louder but also cooler I'd think...

By far the best instruction I have seen out of at least 9 - 11 videos that I've watched. My laptop is very similar. 14" version and I actually am sitting here having purchased the same SSD yesterday. I did make the recovery stick today. Great detailed steps here. Bought another RAM chip to stick in the empty slot I have. I see you have two, probably 8G each.

My upgrade went as per your demo except the recovery step process failed at about 10%. I was able to hook up the old HD via a USB housing and clone it to the SSD. Everything works great and the PC is nice and "snappy fast". :) Thank you very much for posting this. Fantastic demo.

I prefer Mint Linux personally but we have a lot of business clients now moving to Linux in their environments given the risks involved with Windows 10 and Intel. Others are having us setup Windows 10 with Linux environments pre-installed that can work with their Linux servers. I can't blame them. It's free and you can study and modify the software itself to meet your needs/wishes. You control your computer again, vs Microsoft controlling your stuff. it's good stuff!

Man, what a difference! I'm planning on adding an optane drive, since that costed a lot less than an SSD for me

Were you able to add the M.2 / NVMe and make it the primary boot? Some of the HP docs seem to indicate it can only be a secondary drive.

@@joeneubauer3208 I haven't tried that out, honestly. However, I'm pretty sure that you can make an NVMe drive, but that will probably void a warranty.

Excellent video. Thanks for the help. I was primarily concerned about how to open the laptop without damaging the rubber feet or the back. My model has 128GB M.2 SSD and no HDD which means no HDD cable or brackets. I'm upgrading the M.2 SSD to 1TB and changing RAM to 16GB. I would have liked to also install a 1TB HDD but cable and mounting brackets are only available from HP official suppliers at crazy prices. Maybe in a year or two parts might be available at decent prices. I'll look at adding a 1TB HDD or SSD then.

Excellent tutorial, will be upgrading to ssd end of summer, maybe sooner. Currently using only 100gb + 18gb recovery of total 2tb hard drive. obviously don't need 2tb. Could I put a 1tb or less ssd in the machine or piggyback an ssd as mentioned below for speed for the other things I do such as websearch etc, really don't need massive storage at all, reason I ask is a friend who is a wrinkly nerd like me but is a computer whizz says I need to have equivalent ssd to do info transfer from hard drive. Once again many thanks for the info, enjoyed watching the process.
