Hozier comes from County Wicklow, Ireland, not far from Dublin, and right from the first seconds listening to him, we just know that this tall man was gifted with amazing guitar skills, and a mind-blowing voice that just pierces right through your (religious) soul. While this incantatory voice echoes around us, reaching us with off-putting simplicity, we just wonder where this humble yet impressive guy - still unknown not so long ago - comes from… His single 'Take Me To Church', that he performed for us the day before going on stage for the Rock en Seine festival, is an outraged call against homophobia and hate. It was released on his first EP 'From Eden', and is most likely to end up in the track list of his upcoming album, releasing September 19.

m8llo_695 idk man, all the funerals I’ve ever been to ended in laughter because everyone is talking about the person who died and telling stories and then when everyone goes to eat at someone’s house, it’s practically a party celebrating the person who died
Yes, this is a beautiful piece, but can we just take a moment to acknowledge how gigantic his feet are.

No offence, i love his voice but thats not the same tone. “Deathless” a4 but in his track he sang in b4. He’s a very good baritone, not a tenor. That maybe is why this sounds better to you.

Lyrics: My lover's got humour She's the giggle at a funeral Knows everybody's disapproval I should've worshipped her sooner If the heavens ever did speak She's the last true mouthpiece Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week "We were born sick," you heard them say it My church offers no absolutes She tells me, "Worship in the bedroom." The only heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you I was born sick But I love it Command me to be well Aaay. Amen. Amen. Amen. Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life [2x] If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight To keep the Goddess on my side She demands a sacrifice Drain the whole sea Get something shiny Something meaty for the main course That's a fine-looking high horse What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful That looks tasty That looks plenty This is hungry work Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me my deathless death Good God, let me give you my life [2x] No Masters or Kings When the Ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene Only then I am human Only then I am clean Amen. Amen. Amen. Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life [2x] *you're welcome*

hozier has something that not many people can replicate, it is something integral to this song. it's a powerful voice to control the emotion of the song. i listened to other people singing this song but they sounded off because they can't convey emotion with their voice.

When I first heard this song, I knew it was a thunderbolt that would change the musical world. So powerful and poetic, passionate yet almost scriptural. Thank you Andrew for being. May your Megastardom take you far, but always bring you home. Stay humble and kind. #IrishPride

david ruhinda yea dude. He's right. It's not a religious song like most people think. It's more of a losing your religion song. The lyrics are about sex and the songs meaning is an attack of religious organizations who attack the LGBT community. I love this song and the meaning. The video is pretty powerful too. I agree with singer. Anti-gay organizations are complete bullshit. Love is love.

I just found this channel and have listened to about 8 of them of these. They all have something in common... 0 fucking auto tune, you wouldn't see Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj or Taylor Swift doing one of these because they can't fucking sing. It's sad that these so called artist's are so revered by society today when they don't do anything.
