I just cannot believe we found Hozier busking at Royal Pavilion Gardens during Brighton Pride! More videos to come. In September 2013, when Irish solo artist Andrew Hozier-Byrne released his debut single - a song called ‘Take Me To Church’ - which he had mostly recorded in the attic of his parent’s house in Wicklow (his father a blues musician, his mother an artist), little did he know about the hurricane-strength surge in public interest that the song would spark, carrying him to international stardom.
A full ten years and billions of streams later, Hozier still calls Wicklow home. While his music takes him all over the world, it is Ireland and its people and places, the weather and landscape; where a stream is still something that runs down at the bottom of the garden, that calls him back to where he feels he naturally belongs.
The last decade has brought both public and critical acclaim. Multi-platinum album sales, number one records on both sides of the Atlantic, multiple awards including a Grammy-nomination, film and video game soundtracks and countless sold-out live shows all over the world. But as Hozier prepares to release his third album - ‘Unreal Unearth’ - his passion for his art is undimmed, and his curiosity about our world - and all that is good and bad about it - remains undiminished.

The way Hozier acts in public makes me think he doesn't actually understand he is famous and is just engulfed in the music. It's amazing to witness

@FknCash his latest album hit No.1 in the UK last month my guy and he has multiple songs over 100M streams on Spotify.
You know a song is a classic when it can be sung by one person and played with an acoustic instrument. What a legend!

I’ve seriously never grown tired of this song. And the fact that he’s interacting with random folks on the street and letting them get so close - by far one of my favorite musicians of all time.
Somebody in there is singing in harmony with him. Love it.
What a lovely man - no special microphones or effects. Just him and his voice. The actual video that went this was utterly heartbreaking, ive never been able to watch it again. Very apt to be here bringing love and joy. A good man ❤

Damien rice is like that too. He comes out and hangs with people after shows and sings with them. Even has let others play his guitar and done back up for them. Love true artists like that. No auto tune just a real voice.

It's not that his voice overpowers. It's because you're familiar with his voice. It's just something human brains are capable of doing - it's fine tuned with this capability of picking out a familiar voice even in a big, bustling market with loads of ambient noise.

This is how musicians should be. Taking time with fans in public just to sing a song not in concerts...intimate and appreciative of his fans.

I spent the entire time looking at the faces of the people in the crowd, some of their smiles when he hits those notes, clearly genuinely impressed.
I was right there yesterday! Was incredible with an emotional meet and greet at a local record shop after. A day I will remember forever x
To hit those deep notes live and project his voice so that everyone can hear is amazing.
To have your work sung back to you with such enthusiasm and love is a blessing ❤

It's gotta be such a rewarding and humbling feeling to hear people around you singing your song. Like it's probably one thing to do it on a stage where you have headphones in for the music and all that. Must be so different just in this setting. And it must feel so amazing to hear all those people sing it word for word. Very cool to be able to just do that
