They certainly accomplished a lot but in the middle of a pandemic it’s incredible!

I nearly forget about the philanthropy that the chateau funds, and it makes me love Lalande even more

A sharing of history, art, artisan's craft, restoration, fun, and a community of like-minded people. It all creates inspiration and aspirations in others. It's a powerful combination.

My husband drives me to work and pick’s me up so I can watch Chateau Diaries or Chateau Unwrapped as it is a wonderful way too unwind from 12 hr shifts at the hospital. Thank you for all the entertainment you gave me in 2021. Looking forward to following Dan, Phillip, Selmar, Marie, and of course you Stephanie with Natie, Amery, Gerry, and all the LaLanders in 2022.

I’m so pleased about the names of the patrons being on the paneling-such a beautiful gesture to honor those who love the chateaux even if we have never been there. In ancient Egypt the name was everything for immortality and now you have bestowed immortality in that beautiful place dedicated to love. When I was in the great pyramid of Giza, I spoke the names of those I loved so that their names would be in the walls of that holy place for eternity.

Ugly watchtower , what a good name for you. Firstly don't make assumptions about the financial position of individual patrons based on the tier they are on. You can't know this. Secondly how practicable would it be for all names to be viewable ??

It can’t be that impractical. It could just be one small wall or even inside a cupboard as my sister suggested. Prefer our names to be visible maybe in one of the bedrooms.

Stephanie said that she would include anyone who had been a patron at anytime so in addition to the 3700 plus current patrons there must be another 1000 who have been and gone over the last 2 years or so. That is a lot of names to inscribe and what is the point of having wall panelling if the panelling isn't fixed to the wall

@@charlottedickens7713 yes agreed they would be attached to battens and away from the wall but my point is they would still be fixed in position and therefore names attached wouldn't be easily accessible.

Hi from Perthshire in Scotland. Just a wee tip for your old books when you get them from the charity shops. Sometimes they smell a bit musty, you can place inside a few pages on each book , used tumble dryer sheets possibly cutting them in half. Place books in a carrier bag and leave the for a good 3 weeks, they should be a bit fresher and you are re using something that would go in the bin. I also use them for the towels, sheets and linen etc in the linen cupboard. Keep up the good work, love watching your vlogs. Xx

It's so exciting to see how far all the projects have gone. You all have done so much in such a short period of time. This vlog is perfection. A wonderful update of What was, What is, and What will be. I love that Stephanie wore the same dress as she wore in her first video of over 3 years ago. It's an overwhelming amount of projects to hear summed up. But when finished, if the downstairs loo is anything to go by, stunningly done. And will safe the chateau for a long time to go. Happy, healthy and a succesfull 2022 for all Lalanders.

23k raised for charity is an incredible amount - I had anticipated it was perhaps no more than half of that. It's helped a lot of people - very well done.

In my home, which we had built, I wrote our names on the framing before drywall so that my husband, my baby boy, and I will always be a part of this home. I know we won’t be here forever but as long as the house is here, a part of us will be here too.

Stephanie have you ever thought of taking a room or even a hall and making it an art gallery dedicated your father's artwork? A place that maybe is climate controlled to preserve it, with benches or seating just like an art museum and that your guests could go and enjoy his work. Perhaps even having cards or frames with your comments or memories etc. of each painting near each piece. I think that guests would enjoy that and would be able to see them all instead of missing a piece or two since they are sprinkled around the Chateau. Just a thought I know you love his work and are very proud of them. What a lovely way to dedicate his work.

I'm sure you, Stephanie, have thought of this but just in case you haven't here is a little food for thought. Have you or are you legally allowed in France to set up an operating Trust for the chateau? In the US we can set up a Trust that can financially support a large property in perpetuity. This would ensure that what you are doing now will continue to be supported financially in the future. Just think of when Antoine is your age and has to overhaul the heating system or replace the roof. Of course my question is rhetorical as I am not wanting an answer. Thanks as always for allowing all of us into your lives and involving us in the exciting restoration of this fairytale chateau!

It was so good to get a video that was focused on the renovation projects and plans for the coming year. It would be so interesting to have another dedicated update in six months to see the progress. Also loved that Stephanie took centre stage without distractions. Well done.

I think it would be fun to have more espalier trees, fruit trees like apple, pear or peach up against the chateau. With levels of the branches eventually going up high & against the bedroom windows so that you can open the window, reach out & nab a treat!! That is also so nice to have the patrons names who have contributed to helping renovate the chateau commemorated there in the walls! That is so thoughtful!!!!

Wow! What a fabulous year for Chateau De Lalande! A fantastic episode, Stephanie! We would never be able to visit in person but are so honored to be a part of this process and to be a patrons!

I feel like Chateau Diaries is like a tiny continual drop of water that flows into a waterway and keeps watering the whole World round and Stephanie has been caught up in the stream .... a fairy floating along and touching the lives of everyone along the way. This crazy trip we are all on with all the La Landers... I hope it never ends.... Continued love and good health for all of us. Happy New Year.

What can I say. What you’ve done at Lalande is beyond beautiful… it operate as an example of what people should do/be and act towards each other. A shining example of generosity, kindness, communalism, humility, etc… And Stephanie… you have created this… all by yourself 🌷💝
