    @@highlandninja9522 "in fact I'm sure they will fix the problem soon but they will just hide a few guys in the turret" - I hope this is a joke. Because if you take a close look at the T-14's turret (without it's covers, obviously), you'll realize that there's no space for one single person. I gotta say that there aren't many videos showing the T-14's performance. They gave us a short video about it's mobility and another one that shows the T-14's gun test and that's it. Russia prefers to keep many things hidden from the cameras. How much do you know about the T-95 or Object 195? There were so many speculations about that prototype tank but almost zero pictures even though that tank's development started in 1995! First pictures came up more than 10 years later and we still have no good pictures of it and certainly no intel about it's performancy during trials. We didn't know anything about the T-14 (Object 148) until Russia revealed that there will be a next-generation tank. We even didn't know anything about the T-15 which first came up with a 30mm gun and now received a 57mm auto-cannon. My father always told me that even during the Soviet-Era no one (except the government and a couple plants) knew what they were developing and building. We never heard anything about tanks like the Object 187, Object 477 (which is by the way one of the first prototypes with an unmanned turret!) or the now-famous Object 279. And there are plenty more of those "Objects". Russia is still not transparent when it comes to new weapons and they only show them when they think they're ready for a first sneak preview. Just wait for it. They'll show something new soon or later.

    Dmitri T. Yeah you are possibly correct mate but it's all the people going about saying it's the number 1 tank and it's this and it's that but we haven't even seen it hit a target on the move yet and if Russia can show launches of its newest ballistic missiles then a tank shooting on the move is nothing maybe seeing its defensive systems yes but not the basic firing on the move what could be so secretive that they are afraid of? It either has a laser gun turret or it's crap at it that's the only two reason I can think of mate

    @@highlandninja9522 I don't believe what people say. I prefer facts, not some opinions you know? I heard so many dimwits claiming that Leopard-2 tanks are the best in the world, then Turkey lost several of them in one fucking battle in Al-Bab, Syria. Those dimwits finally shut their mouths after that incident, that's for sure. The thing about those missile launches is that it's nothing new. Everyone knows that Russia has ballistic missiles since soviet times, so if they launch a new one, it's like "meh...they've another one, nothing new!". Except last year, that was a game changer because usually a ballistic missile has a range of circa 11,000 km. Russia showed their latest missile which has a range of 16,000km and a few other new weapons like the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, the Status-6 / Poseidon unmanned-nuclear-underwater-drone (it can carry a 50 MT warhead, no shit!) and some other new weapons. But that's all part of this geopolitical game the "big" countries are playing. But you can't flex your muscles with a new tank, at least not on the global level. I'd say it's typical russian behavior. They show you a few things but not everything until they're 100% sure that you're allowed to see it. It's that simple. I doubt that there's an issue with the gun or the auto-loader because both parts were tested several times, the auto-loaders are in service since decades. The only thing I could think of is the conncetion between the crew and the turret. But that's nothing difficult, especially not for Russia which is pretty good in all kinds of electronic shit lately.

    No domestic APFSDS round is a significant disadvantage imo. If I remember correctly, the US is supplying or will be supplying Ukrainian forces with Javelin missiles which would pose a serious threat to armor in the region considering that they usually only operate alone or in a pair from what I've seen. Not sure if active protection would defeat it, but someone in the comments will probably know. The situation in Ukraine continues to be clusterfuck with or without armor. I haven't taken a hard side on the conflict(frankly due to confusion/so many different actors), but I do see how the West clearly assisted in the overthrow of Yanukovych.

    it doesn't matter. The modified T90SM/MS loader is even less reliable as it was widened to fit in the 646mm Svinets rounds. A 10-20 mm structural deformation to the 50mm thin board will make it stall. Horizontal placement does not save the ordinance from being hit by splinter front formed by a successful penetration + the way the extra shells are placed within the side lots doesn't help either.

And after the losses incurred, they are withdrawn from the conflict zone, because just lose effective technology in the conflict zone is wasteful. The T-72B3 completely fulfilled the task, a dozen tanks reduced the advantage in the number of old T-64s against the T-72 to the zero account, the Nazis attack on the Russian-speaking regions stopped. And for the T-90, even "Bulat" and the old T-64, mostly just food because of the imperfection of their sights and old ammunition.

    NemoM22 Locust probably the T-14 would win almost every time on a flat plane and in a 1v1 battle. But if the T-14 are on the move and the Oplot are waiting it is more then capable of taking the T-14 out. Also it’s not really a fair comparison as the T-14 are brand new, and if the information coming from Russia can be trusted the best or at least one of the best tanks in the world. It would be more fair to compare it to the T72-B3 or the T-90 for that matter.

    Given on again off again rumours of EU assistance with Opolot; a large amount of time would be needed to asses if improvements are coming to Ukrainian models. Supposedly Germany is supposed to be assisting with ammunition, though I haven't seen any official statement at all. The lack of NATO and US interest (the USA is much more focused on poland) makes me doubt the rumours. Especially as Germany is in a refit process for the rapid reaction force and it's own defence needs. However it remains possible that Opolot could become much more competitive yet.

    Ukrainians only have stock of Soviet ammunition, so the best ones are 3BM32 and 3BM42 which Russians also have in stock, so all Russian tanks can use Ukrainian projectiles. Russian latest tanks have modified guns and autoloaders so they can fire much longer and powerful projectiles. Ukrainian tanks, including BM Oplot, dont have new guns nor new autoloaders, so they can not fire those long projectiles, they are stuck with old Soviet ones. There has been development of longer and better projectiles in Ukraine, but none entered service, for now, Ukrainian tanks are lagging behind in firepower because of their inability to fire long projectiles.

    Okay, why have he said that Svinets (650mm of penetration at 2km) wouldn't be able to penetrate T-64BM with ''K-5 clone'' DUPLET? 3BM42 or Mango is said to penetrate 440mm of armor at 2km and around 490-500mm at point blank, yet it still penetrated the armor after going through DUPLET (it didn't perforate). Also remember that K-5 (or it's ''clone'' DUPLET should lower the penetration of APFSDS by 20-30%, and it still penetrated. DM43/53 or Svinets/Svinets-1 would go through the tank at maximum range. According to that, my own estimate T-64BM without DUPLET, 400-415mm RHa vs KE, with DUPLET 520-535mm RHa max. Nothing more. Still inferior to PT-91, Leopard 2A5, T-72B3, T-90A etc...

    K-5 is fundamentally different from the EPA "knife", from which made EPA"double". EPA K-5 works by massive plates and accurately calculated charge, works well. "Relic" is its evolution, with backward compatibility. "Knife" is a continuation of experimental developments, which were recognized in the USSR as a technological dead end. A large mass, many of the materials used, of dubious effectiveness, the reduction of the General characteristics of the tank, the increase in size, low survivability... Potentially, the "double" can stop the projectile .... sometimes. In addition, there is a possibility that the blocks will work all at once...

  • @eyyze

    Oh, didn't know that. dziennikzbrojny.pl/media/WLad%20wyposazenie/N%C3%B3%C5%BC%2010.jpg dziennikzbrojny.pl/artykuly/art,5,23,8552,wojska-ladowe,wyposazenie,ukrainski-pancerz-reaktywny-noz-czesc-ii-noz-i-duplet Well, there's no english translations so you would need to translate it yourself. In the case of the new Ukrainian ERA Duplet, the charge has a different dimension, given that: Probably 90% of the power corresponding to the actual for duplicate systems. From the site. Nvm, by my own estimate, DUPLET is more or less equivalent to RELIKT, or even better if it works correctly. But still, i wouldn't give it better KE protection that RELIKT, because it's effectiveness (shown on the diagram) is only in 1/3 of the ERA. And most likely, any modern APFSDS, counting from DM43 , through DM53, to Svinets-1 will go through it's upper half just as good. (not counting Vaccum-1 since it's a kind of ''monster'') Going back to the topic, DUPLET should still be better than K-5, when put on T-84, T-64BM don't have good enough composite armor, (it only got added some HHS plates, nothing more). So yeah, my statement about 400-415 RHa without DUPLET, and around 550-600 with it still stands. For BM Oplot (modernized T-80), the best KE protection i would give it without DUPLET would be around 500-550 RHa, and around 650-750 RHa with it, about the same as T-90A. Analysis, please don't just start insulting like some people do. edit. he said T-72B3 is rated as 500-550 RHa of armor, that's simply a lie. It's composite armor is still the same as T-72B (460-520 RHa at the thickest part of the hull)

  • @elusive6119

    @elusive6119

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes, everything is about the same as you said, excellent analysis! Potentially, "double" can be more effective than K-5, but ... I already mentioned the reasons why it will not be applicable to the T series. That is why its development was stopped. As well as from the active protection kit "rain" aka "screen" it does not work as well as desired. Weight, dimensions, random efficiency ... For the T-72B3, armored packages were replaced (and not only armor, communications, weapon control systems, etc.), taking into account the experience of using T-90 and T-80U, in addition, not only the original K-5, actual figures we will not know, at least not soon. The entire series of tanks T excluding the T-80 and to a lesser extent the modern T-90, has problems with the transmission and engine, the overweight of their Achilles' heel.

In addition, this is not all that will be done, it is difficult to do such a volume of work at a time. The T-72B3 is already more modern than the original T-90 (not T-90A). For what? We have thousands of cheap t-64 tanks, and the front line is far from the capital or other important places, so there is no need to use newer and more expensive tanks to accomplish these tasks. This tank is too expensive for this usage. You can sell one of them and upgrade many old tanks with this money and it's more efficient at this moment.
