How wind catcher/tower work in hot climate?

Wind catchers, also known as wind towers or wind scoops, are traditional architectural structures found in Middle Eastern countries, particularly in Iran. These structures are designed to capture and channel wind into buildings, providing natural ventilation and cooling during hot and dry weather.
In essence, a wind catcher is a tall, chimney-like tower with multiple openings at the top. As wind flows over the tower, it creates a negative pressure inside, drawing hot air out of the building and replacing it with cooler, fresher air. This passive cooling method has been used for centuries and is still relevant today, especially in areas with limited access to electricity or air conditioning.

Can it work in a humid subtropical climate like South East Asia where wind is not that strong?

I think it would unlikely to work but a earth wind tunnel might work

it suppose to be near to coast. in my city old dutch buildings (such in train station, etc) used this method as they invented in the past. it did actually work until today's technology make the room colder by installing ACs.

Yes , must scale it to transfer the heat / humidity to the cooler ground .

They're not wind catchers. The heat goes up the chimney through the stack effect when it is cool at night cooling the entire structure. Once the building is full of cold air inside and out it will cool the structure much more quickly than it would heat up during the day. The cold doesn't go up the chimney during the heat of the day. 2 chiminies should cool much faster still than 1 large chiminy because the cold won't have to travel as far in some rooms. If they catch the wind they would heat up the building during the day. They didn't have fans so a tall tower gravity can increase the pumping of the air.

Doesnt work if you stay at the city with much population/ homes Cause you muat build extra tall tower, its like you build short turbine to extract the energy into electricity in the city

If the temperature is 40C outside, how can this work? There is no "cool breeze" outside, just hot dry wind.

Naw, you'll just get colder air in. Isolating heat is the Nordic solution to cold. Which makes summers particularly problematic.

This proves that buildings in the past had "Free energy" and this means we can do it again!! How much CO is being emitted by this large "Commercial A.C." 😂
