HOW & WHY TO LEVEL YOUR 2ND & 3RD SIGHT AXIS

Спорт

Getting your 2nd and 3rd axis leveled on your sight is hyper-critical to archery accuracy. It is also something that is commonly overlooked by archers and bowhunters. When using your sight level bubble, if your 2nd and 3rd axis are not leveled, relying on your bubble will give you a false read and your arrows will miss their intended mark. In this School of Nock episode, John Dudley of Nock On Archery will teach you why 2nd and 3rd axis leveling is important, and how to get it dialed in on your sight so you can achieve a high level of archery accuracy.

I’ve only been into archery for the last few years but I’ve watched almost every school of nock video and I’m not saying I’m anywhere near perfect but I almost immediately started shootings better than guys I know that have been shooting for years, thanks for all the helpful info

That is really awesome to hear, Jeff! There are a lot of details in archery and each detail really adds up. The more you learn, and apply what you learn, the better you will continue to become. It's like anything in life, the more work you put in, the better you will become. NOCK ON!

@@nockonarchery I haven’t shot a bow in years and just jumped from an 80’s bear to a 2020 Mathew vxr 28. I was not bad with the old one but without even taking a shot with the new bow I know I’m already far better. My buddy sent my your KZread link and said watch the school of knock, and I regret 0 seconds of everything I’ve seen so far.

Thanks so much! I’ve watched several of these axis vids and always get lost at one point or another. This was the clearest, most easy to understand explanation yet. No need to look any further. Much appreciated.

Nice video as usual. For years now I have used a plum door jam to do the same thing, just hold the sight flat to the jam and make adjustments from there. This video has got me wanting to try a Bright Sight

Perfect timing! I received my Nock-On Fast Eddie 5 pin yesterday and swung by Gateway Archery in Fort Worth to have them install it. I watched some videos on the topic of 2nd and 3rd axis prior, and it was cool to watch them go through the process and understand it.

I've had local shops tell me sights are usually fine out of the box, and that's totally not the case. To be a better archer, I've learned you have to know your equipment and how to work on it. As usual, this is great advice. Nock on!

You are spot on, Jon. Sights are not "fine out of the box" because they always need to be leveled to your specific bow. Can you get away with not adjusting a sight and slapping it on a bow? Sure. But doing so will never never allow someone to be great with their setup. And, the more you shoot slopes and angles the worse it will be. Thanks for the support and NOCK ON!

John this is awesome. I literally listened to a podcast today “Leading Edge Archery “ and Bridger was talking about this. I so wanted to ask you about this. Full draw versus just setting 3rd axis in a bow vise? Thanks for all you give. I look forward to seeing you again at TAC.

Dear John: if you level the sight with this jig, we must assume that the holes in the riser and the riser itself is machined perfectly. How often is this the case?

Technically wouldn't want to set up your 2nd and 3rd axis going off your string level as a reference just like setting up your arrow in the rest. Setting up my hoyt carbon spyder there really isn't anywhere I would trust to go off of considering its a tree limb lol.I must be missing something here if you are using your riser as a reference would it be be completed off.

why don't you want to just tell us what those brands are so we avoid buying them I just don't see why you wouldn't. who cares if you hurt their feelings maybe they'll improve their product. that's like going out to dinner with friends and saying, "without saying which one, one of your drinks has been poisoned I'm not going to say which one" 🤨
