This video is about How Whisky is Made and takes you through the production process from grain to glass.
The production of whisky is relatively simple. You allow the barley germinate until the starch of the grain has become malt sugar. The malt is then dried and ground. The sugar is extracted by adding hot water, and the resulting liquid is then left to ferment. This is then distilled at least twice in copper stills. The spirit is then matured in oak casks for a minimum of three years. Upper end single malt whiskies are often matured for decades.
Whisky is a strictly regulated spirit worldwide with many classes and types. The typical unifying characteristics of the different classes and types are the fermentation of grains, distillation, and aging in wooden barrels.
