The homemade bandaid on dude’s finger was just the icing on the cake!! Love these vids. And I bet that they hold together better than most people think??!!
Gotta hand it to them, they certainly make due with what’s available to them.
The secret to their success is using just the right amount of magic dirt in the rebuild.
Based on the available resources (tools and equipment) I think they've done a great job. Not everyone has access to modern tools

@@budcunningham6732 Ok so what are they supposed to do when something breaks down...sit around crying and praying to Santa Claus or the tooth ferry or God to suddenly send the correct tools and spare parts out of nowhere?....these are real men they just get on with the job with what little they have...respect!
Salut buat India ❤ Salam dari Indonesia.🇮🇩
These old Cat engines are really tough and easy to work on. They would often break the R/H motor mount bolt off. I repaired many of them over the years.
Did anybody catch the bellhousing being installed without the washes behind the bolts and once again forget about a torque wrench it's good and tight

Yes I know, some of those big Cats have really complex torque sequences.Drag the heavy con rod over the cylinder liner without protection.

As have I. Torqueing the rods was always a miserable thing when the bugs were bad. Using a 4 to 1 multiplier by yourself is a tricky affair eh.

People talking about torque wrench and other big terms have never seen life beyond a company showroom or company workshop. They don’t know that many of these uneducated mechanics are far better than educated engineers. They think out of the box. I am from India and we have a lot of road side mechanics and shops who do a far better job than big workshops , at a fraction of the cost and the end result is also fantastic. They are reliable and people go to them by choice.

Nao usam torkimetro. Tudo manual e a coisa funciona.
You stole the video thumb nail from another KZread channel. He rebuilt his cat dozer in his basement garage underneath his large barn which is used for wedding party's.
300 foot pound on main bearing !!super precise with a pipe on wrench lol

Have the techs ever considered using a torque wrench ….they have grossly over torqued the rod bolts and have no real idea of the main big torque…I’m not trolling them as they are doing a decent job….but honestly after the labor and parts invested the proper torque is needed to insure your work is not in vain

I know that one old John deere engine main bearing torque in the John Deere manual said 250 FT LBS then turn 1/2 turn more. That always amazed me
Muy buen trabajo ❤
It's not about the motor, it's about the views.

Job is very good but your safty is zoom how much Torque man birendra whiteout torque every Bolt and nut AL SO SAFTY FIREST
I have two huge rollaways full of beautiful tools I wish I could send it in a shipping container over there and go in business with these guys with some modern tools and get a nice huge workbench and heavy duty table to work on and get off the floor with 1 inch steel workbench
its done perfectly
Amazing work 👍
Tools and equipments are behind but skill wise they are marvelous. Safety down. Smoking 😂 while working might burnt the whole workshop and no safety shoes 😮😢. But of all, with no sophicated tools, they still can do the job.
Interesting, everything tightened fully by brute force without a torque wrench in sight. Everything completed using basic hand tools.
brilliant Ali is that a three foot scafoliding tourque wrench or a two foot one you need
That's a lot of work!
Torquímetro não existe nessa região do planeta... kkkkkk 😎 😎 😎
Apapun jenis mesin lama serahkan over haul kepada mereka pasti kelar 😁👍🏼

You can do with what you have available to do the job ! Like auto machinery if you don’t have it you must do with what you have the best way you can do !
Good
Gostei e do torquímetro raiz que eles usam viu.....
There will be a lot of criticism, but the bottom line is how well and how long does it run when their through, the reason they don’t use things is , they don’t have them. There’s way more to using a torque wrench than making it click or beep, most people on KZread don’t have a clue.

Actually if you 100 lbs on a 1ft lever you have ........100 lbs/ft torque. Its not complicated, they just have to find a guy the right weight to stand on a lever the right length.

Washing a new rod bearing in extremely dirty solvent @ 26:29 doesn't exactly inspire the confidence this engine will have much longevity. Also the concept of ratchets and torque wrenches seem to have bypassed these people.
@John-ls5nu

@@Chisos1 I agree they're lucky if it will last a day running if that but it said the amount of Labor it took to take the engine out and do this whole job in an unskilled way was pointless
im amazed at what us people can achieve, these old Cats are phenomenal and these guys definitely know what they're doing never saw an engine rebuild happen outside but I guess they get stuck into it before the elements have a chance to ruin the work put in love this stuff

One has to wonder I could spin the crankshaft so it's okay so the bearing clearances a fine yeah right no plastic gauge how do you know what the tolerances are to float the bearing looks like they're going to be building this again
Nothing like overtorquing rod bearings to wipe them out prematurely
Very very good🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sealant, more sealant, more tube torque wrench end more sealant😅
Those headbolt threads needed a permatext sealant & light oil between headbolt cap & hardened washers and (torque specs?) Ever heard of thm guys...
Slap-On torque wrench.
The negative comments on here need to be ignored. These are made by armchair mechanics. The work these guys are doing here is just as good if not better than any European or US workshop standards. This particular company have rebuilt hundreds of Cat engines without issue and have more experience than most. If their work was sub standard their engines would have limited life or let go. They just don't. They rebuild these Cat motors to go on to do many thousands of hours further work without issue.
Cat D342 (spacer plate) engine, as someone else said, a lot to criticize, but needs must 👌🏻😎
How many hours will an engine like this last? Seriously? Do they guarantee a minimum number of hours?
