Guys this was really helpful in understanding what happens to pieces after they have been separated. It was extremely clear to even a novice.

Good video! I'm also a fan of consolidation. As a seller, I don't like to have multiple lots of the same part. As a buyer, I really hate stores who have multiple lots of the same parts: you have to scroll through many pages of the same stuff, and often they are priced differently so it's a hassle to have ot search for the best price, especially in larger stores. Even if filling up the store without consolidation goes quicker, it's also a lot messier.

Any reason why you don't just open your store inventory in brickstore and copy your remarks to the box sheet you are working on? It's way faster than doing brick merge and it's all in one application. Great video though!

I think one intrinsic value created by consolidating versus absolutely no consolidation, is the liquidation value. If you guys decided tomorrow because life changed or the value of your product has changed, you can receive a higher value from a buyer if they would like to buy a portion of your store. It would be more assuring buying large quantity knowing that each bag is going to have the quantity. Versus a large unconsolidated mess that would be hard to liquidate that product beyond the price of bulk.

Have you tried keeping it as one file with new lots and consolidated lots for the upload before? They way I've done it after uploading BSX file to Brickfreedom and getting back the file with the remarks: Save a copy of the file for the bsx file for backstock and the original for eventual upload. You can run through the back stock file and sort it by remark. When you do run into elements that are oversized for the location you can pull the drawer/s. When you go back to the original file you can just scan over the existing remark for the move, and then just make sure at the upload screen on Bricklink you have have it set to Consolidate remarks by "New Remarks" and it becomes one upload, put new lot drawers back as well as relocated lots. As always great content - HH Bricks.

Hi, Great video, it reminds me of your original tutorial videos. I have one quick question though, do you have any quicker/easier method of consolidating new parts straight from sets??

Do you have any videos on adding just a bunch of random parts? How to identify them and add etc? We had a bunch of loose pieces, and I'm new to this so I don't even know what a lot of them are lol

you just number them #1-500 #501-1000 #1001-etc etc.. If you work there every day, you will know them by heart very swiftly

Do you find new or used easier to sort

  • @JustABrickInTheBucket

New is significantly easier and quicker to sort and add to the inventory, but the margin is slightly lower on new. It is also very hard to consistency source new parts, where as people are always getting rid of used LEGO which makes it easy to source!
