Too much Kaisereich and Ahistorical gameplay, it has fried his brain and rewritten the history in his head. It happens sometimes. After playing HOI4 for a year, I went to go watch a WW2 documentary and was genuinely confused at why Greenland wasn't a part of the Kiwi Empire and why France didn't join the commiterm and was wondering the whole time why it was taking Germany so long to overthrow Hitler and restore the Kaiser, I just kept waiting for it to happen and it never did. I then realized HOI4 had completely rewritten the history of WW2 in my brain, and that was only after I convinced myself I wasn't in some alternate reality or dimension and that HOI4 was the original timeline. TLDR don't get a history degree in HOI4.

around 70k Irish fought in other armies against the Germans. the main problem was having already joined the Irish Army and then deserting to fight with, usually, the British. other than that, Ireland was helping the Allies.

Things were going well for Yugoslavia compared to majority of "socialist" countries. A lot of problems were being "hidden under the rug" and a lot was super dependant on Tito's personal prestige and charisma, it's surprising that Yugoslavia even outlived him for that long.

He literally attacked the German, Italian and Croat occupiers in order to provocate them, so they retaliate against the civilian population which in turn draws more recruits to his side.

He did it knowing that the occupiers will retaliate against the civilian population and that was exactly the thing what he wanted them to do in order to fill his militia's ranks and take over the country after the war was over, even though the legitimate government still was sitting in London. And btw, the Nazis and communists had way more in common than the Nazis and fascists - everyone who calls the Nazis fascists also clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. All three ideologies have the same socialist roots, so I wouldn't call Tito a "liberator", rather the lesser of two evils.

Baltics were neutral in Interwar period. Lithuanians trialed and put prison Nazi party symphatizers, and shot dead 4 communists. They did not cared about a thing, just wanted to live peacefully and not bothered by anyone. Stalin had another thought and forced himself unto Baltics. As far as I know we did the same thing for Axis pilots. But I think in practice Allied pilots were treated more favourably (for instance I've heard it was common for Irish people to help stranded British pilots get back to the UK via the NI border

@@TheIT221 Look into the Papua Conflict on various wikis or articles. I'm almost positive Indonesians holding Papua is a product of Dutch Colonialism. It's treated as a colony, to this day. Big mine. Carved deep into the Earth, for gold. There's been labels of genocide in Western Papua, with Native Ethnicities shrinking, and Javanese moving in.

Not a lot of people know about Irish history especially post-victorian era (after the famine) but Ireland was in no postition to be involved in WW2, we were "Allies alligned" due to economic and social issues. Up to 80,000 accepted being shunned by joining the UK military during WW2. The only economic boom the Irish state has ever had was 90's-2008. Everything outside of that was economic hardship/inability to develop infrastructure (EU helped this a huge amount). Nowadays the corruption and landlordism is destorying the country. Our military is underfunded beyond belief despite not being part of NATO. We cant even keep all of our navy active (its like 9 ships lul) because of lack of staffing. On paper Ireland is one of the wealthiest country in the world but more than a decent chunk have to juggle bills or in the winter decide between heating or food. Our neutrality is a point of contention of which I maintain neutrality, aid does not mean military. Economic and social, charitable even yes. But even if we decided to become not Neutral and join NATO, our defense spending is 0.26 of our GDP (which is inflated by us essentially being a tax haven for multinationals)

Well, I don't think that's particularly naïve. I'd hope all of us seek to develop views based in facts and logic, that's rational, intellectual thinking. Though it depends what subject you're trying to have a the right opinion on. Personally I find that the "liberal" views he has are only occasionally in the wrong.

Yeah, neutrality has changed alright. I was apathetic about Russia, with a sense of unease at their actions. That hasnt outright changed, but the massive push to support Ukraine by the usual suspects+the ease with which they disarm ourselves and payout billions whilst also bearing the "costs of war" onto the public, has led to me being fervently anti Ukraine. The sooner Russia commits to this war in full, the better.
