The Turkish Century series that kraut made was a brilliant documentary too Tommy. It's a little bit long for covering it up on a stream but especially the first video of serie was very good even with the minor flaws that he made while making it. I hope you watch it with twitch!!

I understand that I may will regret it but... In 2020 there was massive anti-government protests in Siberia Khabarovsk krai. During 20 summer governor Furgal was arrested because of corruption accusations and murder of his industrial opponent in 90s. But people thought that was plot of central government, because after Vyacheslav which everyone is tired of he started to do reforms. He started to crack corruption and prices went down. When he was deposed and told that he would be replaced by a man who had previously never been in Khabarovsk or ever had a similar position people went to streets with slogans "Свободу Фургалу!/Freedom to Furgal!", every weekends people go out to streets and then slogan "Putin's resignation". All Russia watched on this but no other massive group tryed this in other regions. So at the end police waited when people start to lose motivation and began to crack down "leaders" only to realise that their is no leader figures, so the loudest went to court(At least they only got fine). And on the september 19 2021 last protest was ended. Moral of this story? Don't even think about it, we only thought what could happen if they won but not if how we can help them. (Also please, the author of this comment told everything on behalf of people and news conspirators, how they saw them and so on. I believe that if a person has committed murder, then he should be in prison)

@@duruarute5445 Yea i am random dude who lives in Russia, passed the state exam in history, re-read dozens of books on the history of my country and regularly listen to lectures by Russian historians, not a random liar who reads from Wikipedia, he and similar "experts" youtubers do not understand anything about Russia . I'm afraid to upset you, but authoritarianism in northeastern Russia appeared BEFORE the arrival of the Mongols, no one built wooden forts instead of stone ones to burn them down later, he just made it up, the construction of wooden fortresses is due to the poverty of the land for stone mining. I'm already afraid to talk about the fact that he inserts the current coat of arms of Ukraine as the flag of ancient Rus. To make a normal video about the history of a particular country, you should first read the historical materials in the language of that country and not talk about some burned forts, "General Frost" and other nonsense.

All that land that has traditional helped them survive invasion is kind of useless when we have missiles and aircraft that can strike anywhere in the country.

Germans had air control over Soviet union during ww2 but still lost because Russians had better anti aircraft guns. And those planes can be spotted also jeez, land army is not going to be absolute,and it help them in so many ways. the polish, Swedish, French, Germans attacks were repealed.

There were mistakes in that video, Kyivan Rus included Novgorod and was all of that territory, it wasn't called Russia, it's the name Russians gave themselves later. Rus is the original, Russia is a cheep sequel

IMHO that video is highly overrated. It may appeal to you if you have very little knowledge of russian history, culture and mentality. But in fact it just tries to cover massive period (looks like from 1100`s to 1800s or even nowadays), constantly jumping from one age to another which results in cherry picking sometimes misleading facts supporting author`s point. Honestly I have no idea how can you at least start to understand The Origins Of Russian Authoritarianism after watching something like that.

He has done other projects that went way more in-depth on some topics, like the Turkey videos (4 hours total) or the Mexico series (5 hours total), but he unfortunately can't always do those types of videos if he wants to actually make money of of his content since they take so long to produce. Krait himself has stated that he would rather do longer series often but that he just can't.

Nonsense(I'm ukrainian) Russia is grec word to describe Rus(Ukraine), but those bastards took it as theirs in the 18th century by calling moscovy russian empire, actually has nothing to do with Rus, even if you say that rurik created Rus etc, that's nonsense, as people were calling themselves ruthenians(rusins) long before he stepped in, and I'm not even taking into consideration that Novgorod was one of regions of Rus who paid tribute to polans (the tribe from Kyiv region and that was basically the most powerful and ruled the Rus(capital)) and that rurik being born in Rus, can't suddenly call himself with a grec word instead of old slavic and become a moscovite, who weren't existing in the time.
