How Traditional French Butter Is Made In Brittany | Regional Eats

Insider's Claudia Romeo traveled to Brittany, France to meet with Jean-Yves Bordier, a butter artisan who brought back to France the 19th-century technique of malaxage, using a big wooden wheel to knead the butter. To Jean-Yves, the malaxage is a more romantic way to make butter. At his workshop, everything is churned, kneaded, and shaped by hand.

The "little good man" translation for "un tout petit bonhomme" was not accurate. Translating "bonhomme" as "good man" is literal translation which is wrong, although etymologically correct. What he meant was something more along the lines of "I'm the little guy compared to the other 97% industrial butter companies who spit out junk by the ton". Being the little guy in the food industry is considered a good thing around here, this man sells his products at a huge markup to the best ⭐⭐⭐michelin restaurants in this country, he's a millionaire at the very least. His company's revenue for 2009 were of 3,686,220 €, so he's probably fine 12 years later.

By the end (14:25), the subtitles read "staff" but really he calls them "mon collaborateur... mon compagnon" which actually means "my collaborators... my companions" and that is so so sweet 😭😭😭 they aren't people working for him, they are people working with him. Yes, I'm agree, but I'm just saying that as a person who has a Latin language, I had to correct it. Don't worry, I'm not saying that Marie-Antoinette is french. Even if she's not, the name Antoinette (and also Marie) exist in France, because as you know, the French is a Latin language, as the Austrian language.
