In the Philippines, they have their own cheese called "kesong puti". "Kesong puti" is a soft, unaged, white cheese made from unskimmed carabao milk and salt curdled with vinegar, citrus juices, or sometimes rennet. It can also be made with goat or cow milk. It has a mild salty and tart flavor. It can be eaten as is, paired with bread (usually pandesal), or used in various dishes in Filipino cuisine. It is usually sold wrapped in banana leaves.

We don't put Cotija cheese on our tacos here in Mexico, just if they are "tacos dorados" (also known as "flautas") that are way different to the 'usual' tacos. We may use oaxaca cheese (ak as "quesillo") for "tacos de barbacoa", though. But in that case, they aren't tacos anymore, they are called "taquesos" since they include quedo (cheese). Edit: Empanadas do note have oaxaca cheese at all, although some may include it, that is really uncommon.
@echinas0908
Жыл бұрын
It depends, here in Oaxaca there's empanadas de quesillo and it would be almost imposible for an empanada place to not sell them
So weird that you mentioned Jarlsberg when going to Norway, but not brown cheese.. That's like our thing! Like Canada has maple syrup. We have brown cheese! It's kind of sweet, almost like caramel. It's figuratively in every household at all times, and never goes out of date. BROWN CHEESE!

For some reason, this is my comfort video for when I’m feeling down.
In Spain we have 26 Record of Provenance cheeses (Manchego included) like Afuega'l pitu, Gamoneu, Cabrales (quite similar to Roquefort), Mahon, Idiazabal (similar to Pecorino), Picon-Vejes-Treviso, Queixo do Cebreiro (similar to Ricotta in texture but a little bit stronger), Casin, Camerano, Arzua-Ulloa, de Murcia y al vino, de la Serena, L'Alt Urgell, de Guia, Nata de Cantabria, Ibores, Majorero, de Tetilla, Zamorano, Palmero, de Liebana, San Simon da Costa, Roncal and Torta del Casar (one of my favourites) All of them are quite awesome and also still so many of them very tasty. I would say that only a few are my favourites but still some awesome cheeses made outside of borders that I love like the aged Comte, the classic Gouda or a good old Parmesano.

If you ever go to the Netherlands, here’s what to do. (In my opinion) Go to the convenience store, and buy a block of old Amsterdam. It’s the best aged cheese. Cut it up into bite-sized pieces and put on a plate. On the side, make some honey-mustard sauce. (Just honey with mustard, that’s it). Now dip the cheese into the sauce and enjoy. We always have it whenever we go watch television together on Saturday while watching ‘wie is de mol’. It’s great. Just do it.

Jarlsburg - I bought a large wedge of it for charcuterie, and my son ate almost all of it, saying as he ate, "I still can't decide if I like it, so I'd better try another piece." My favorite cracker cheese, when I can get any of it. A favorite dessert cheese is Gjetost from Norway, which you did not mention. I love it with a sweeter wine, chocolate, Club crackers and fruits. Favorite snack-breakfast-lunch-dinner cheese is cottage cheese. A good cottage cheese is like a good slice of bread, a canvas just waiting to be painted

@@yurikatsuki5130 "How did cheese come to be? First, man discovered that domestic animals could be milked. While no one can be certain who made the first cheese, we can be certain it was an accident. Legend is that nomadic tribes of Central Asia who carried milk in animal skin bags “discovered” cheese. They carried milk in saddlebags made from animal skins, and possibly made from the stomach, which contains the coagulating enzyme known as rennin. Or, fermentation of the milk sugars would cause the milk to curdle. The galloping motion of the horse, acting as churning, would effectively separate the milk into curds. The result, curds and whey, provided a refreshing whey drink as well as curds, which would be drained through perforated earthenware bowls or woven reed baskets, and lightly salted to provide a tasty and nourishing high protein food. However, any people with milking animals would have “discovered” cheese and yogurt in a similar way. Any shepherd or farmer taking milk along with him in the stomach of slaughtered animal that is used as a canteen; or the beneficial microflora in a milkmaid’s oak bucket feeding on the simple sugars in the milk, releasing lactic acid that increases the acidity and causes coagulation. Before long, people learned that the curds could be aged over weeks or months, and then, pressed together to form large cakes of cheese. Most scholars agree that the art of cheesemaking traveled from Asia Minor to Europe, where it flourished in the hands of the Romans." Lets's read it again: Most scholars agree that the art of cheesemaking traveled from Asia Minor to Europe, where it flourished in the hands of the Romans. And again: "However, any people with milking animals would have “discovered” cheese and yogurt in a similar way." So, stop making assumptions based on your ass.

Pedro Schröppen I mean you have to remember that Asia Minor has always been at the crossroads of european and western asian culture. Besides, it was in European cultures where the art of cheese making was perfected, so we can’t blame people for assuming that’s where cheese was invented.
