The pyramids of Egypt fascinated travellers and conquerors in ancient times and continue to inspire wonder in the tourists, mathematicians, and archeologists who visit, explore, measure, and describe them. Tombs of early Egyptian kings were bench-shaped mounds called mastabas. Around 2780 BCE, King Djoser's architect, Imhotep, built the first pyramid by placing six mastabas, each smaller than the one beneath, in a stack to form a pyramid rising in steps. This Step Pyramid stands on the west bank of the Nile River at Sakkara near Memphis. Like later pyramids, it contains various rooms and passages, including the burial chamber of the king. The transition from the Step Pyramid to a true, smooth-sided pyramid took placed during the reign of King Snefru, founder of the Fourth Dynasty (2680-2560 BCE). At Medum, a step pyramid was built, then filled in with stone, and covered with a limestone casing. Nearby at Bahshur, construction was begun on a pyramid apparently planned to have smooth sides. About halfway up, however, the angle of incline decreases from over 51 degrees to about 43 degrees, and the sides rise less steeply, causing it to be known as the Bent Pyramid. The change in angle was probably made during construction to give the building more stability. Another great pyramid was built at Dahshur with its sides rising at an angle of somewhat over 43 degrees, resulting in a true, but squat looking pyramid. The largest and most famous of all the pyramids, the Great Pyramid at Giza, was commissioned by Snefru's son, Khufu, known also as Cheops, the later Greek form of his name. The pyramid's base covered over 13 acres and its sides rose at an angle of 51 degrees 52 minutes and were over 755 feet long. It originally stood over 481 feet high; today it is 450 feet high. Scientists estimate that its stone blocks average over two tons apiece, with the largest weighing as much as fifteen tons each. Two other major pyramids were built at Giza, for Khufu's son, King Khafre (Chephren), and a successor of Khafre, Menkaure (Mycerinus). Also located at Giza is the famous Sphinx, a massive statue of a lion with a human head, carved during the time of Khafre. Pyramids did not stand alone but were part of a group of buildings which included temples, chapels, other tombs, and massive walls. Remnants of funerary boats have also been excavated; the best preserved is at Giza. On the walls of Fifth and Sixth Dynasty pyramids are inscriptions known as the Pyramid Texts, an important source of information about Egyptian religion. The scarcity of ancient records, however, makes it difficult to be sure of the uses of all the buildings in the pyramid complex or the exact burial procedures. It is thought that the king's body was brought by boat up the Nile to the pyramid site and probably mummified in the Valley Temple before being placed in the pyramid for burial. There has been speculation about pyramid construction. Egyptians had copper tools such as chisels, drills, and saws that may have been used to cut the relatively soft stone. The hard granite, used for burial chamber walls and some of the exterior casing, would have posed a more difficult problem. Workmen may have used an abrasive powder, such as sand, with the drills and saws. Knowledge of astronomy was necessary to orient the pyramids to the cardinal points, and water-filled trenches probably were used to level the perimeter. A tomb painting of a colossal statue being moved shows how huge stone blocks were moved on sledges over ground first made slippery by liquid. The blocks were then brought up ramps to their positions in the pyramid. Finally, the outer layer of casing stones was finished from the top down and the ramps dismantled as the work was completed. Most of the stone for the Giza pyramids was quarried on the Giza plateau itself. Some of the limestone casing was brought from Tura, across the Nile, and a few of the rooms were cased with granite from Aswan. Marks of the quarry workers are found on several of the stone blocks giving names of the work gangs such as "craftman-gang". Part-time crews of laborers probably supplemented the year-round masons and other skilled workers. The Greek historian Heroditus reported in the fifth century BCE that his Egyptian guides told him 100,000 men were employed for three months a year for twenty years to build the Great Pyramid; modern estimates of the number of laborers tend to be much smaller. Pyramid building was at its height from the Fourth through the Sixth Dynasties. Smaller pyramids continued to be built for more than one thousand years. Scores of them have been discovered, but the remains of others are probably still buried under the sand. As it became clear that the pyramids did not provide protection for the mummified bodies of the kings but were obvious targets for grave robbers, later kings were buried in hidden tombs cut into rock cliffs. Although the magnificent pyramids did not protect the bodies of the Egyptian kings who built them, the pyramids have served to keep the names and stories of those kings alive to this day.

man, it annoys me so much when people just don't do their research and just comment whatever. THIS IS WIRTUALS MAIN CHANNEL. his second channel is WirtualTV. if people just thought for a second or two before they commented, maybe they would think "oh, this channel is called Wirtual, and the other channel is called WirtualTV. Actually, i think this is the main channel, so it would not be smart to spread misinformation in his comment section." But no. people blindly comment the first thing they can think of, not doing even the smallest bit of research or even using common sense. WHAT MAKES PEOPLE THINK THIS IS HIS SECOND CHANNEL??? even by just watching a few seconds of this video, the serious tone, the editing, it's literally the most obvious thing that THIS IS HIS MAIN CHANNEL!! please people, don't spread lies in the comment section, especially not under a video of this high quality. i hope everyone learns from this

Writual is staring forward. His vision piercing into the road, his jawline splitting atoms in the air that is filled with infinite tension. I am in his driver's seat, scared for my life. I never thought that the game Trackmania could become real. At least I am with him, my favourite streamer. "We need more speed" Wirtual says not taking his eyes off the road. "Twitch chat knows better. They always do. We need 350 speed, or we won't get across" he says. Wirtual resets. In an instant, we are teleported to the last checkpoint. "let's try again" he says now finally taking a look at me. "are you scared? You don't have to be. This ramp isn't my first speed check" he says calmly with a little smile is going over his face. I can't help but to smile back. Wirtual starts the engine again, the motor rumbling my seat, my bones. His eyes are fixated on the road again, as he builds up speed for another attempt. My heart hammered against my ribs as Wirtual launched us down the track. This time, the car seemed glued to the precise construction of the gray road blocks, him taking the curves with a precision that defied physics. We soared over jumps, narrowly missing walls, and the speedometer climbed towards the forbidden 350. My stomach lurched as we approached the notorious final ramp - a tight jump only possible with perfect driving, before a long, treacherous straightaway leading to the finish line. "Here we go," Wirtual muttered, his voice betraying a hint of nervousness. Light reflects of his face like it does off a precision cut diamond. He flicked the car with expert hands, taking the last corner before the ramp with a millimetre of clearance. A perfect speedslide accomplished by taking the most optimal outside line. The crowd in the Twitch chat, usually a cacophony of taunts and laughs, went silent. Even they were holding their breath. We blasted down over the ramp. Sounds from the wheels ripping up the road behind us go quiet. Wirtual is locked onto the steering wheel, while he gazes forward calculating your odds of survival. I feel myself lifting off of the seat. My belt locking me in. "Wirtual is here to protect me" I think to myself, now closing my eyes in fear. After what feels like hours, I start feeling the pull of gravity again. It's completely quiet, outside of erratic sputterings from the motor. We slam to the ground, shaking the car violently. cracking sounds are audible from all around. "Is this the wall, the road? Am I alive?" my thoughts start racing, my eyes still closed. The shaking is slowing down and the calming sound of the wheels is bringing me comfort. "We did it" says Wirtual in the most handsome voice. Distant cheering coming from the distance. I slowly open my eyes. The windshield in fromt of me has large cracks in it, but that doesn't matter. I am savely together with Wirtual on the final stretch of the race. "I need to show my true self to the doubters" Wirtual says. he hasn't acknowledged me for even a moment. I hear a sudden slam; Wirtuals muscular foot hits the gas pedal instantly bringing the engines into an uproar. the world blurring past. The finish line materialized, a red and white ribbon stretched across the track. Wirtual slammed on the gas now more than ever. He hasn't forgotten the final engine off block. Everything starts slowing down, as we hit it. The world starts making sense again to my shaken up mind. The car comes to a screeching halt just inches past the finish line. Silence. Then, the chat exploded. "WORLD RECORD!" spammed across the screen in a tidal wave of filled with spinning fish. Wirtual let out a sigh, a genuine smile finally breaking across his handsome face. He turned to me, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "See? I told you this ramp wasn't my first rodeo," he said with a wink. The pressure had drained from me, replaced by a giddy rush of exhilaration. We had done it. Against all odds, on a track designed to break even the best drivers, Wirtual had conquered it, etching his name Trackmania history. As the chat erupted in a frenzy of praise, I knew I wouldn't just remember this as a legendary stream - it would be the day I rode shotgun with a world record champion and future husband.

I would love to listen to you just explaining world hostory like: And then, on December 25th of the year 800 Kar der Große did this: He crowned himself… and so on. Besides i really like watchin trackmania footage. Love from Germany. :)

The production and presentation on this video are absolutely astounding. Wonderful job on this Wirt! Thank you for everything you've done for the Trackmania community. I know for a fact that I wouldn't be playing this game either if it wasn't for all of the bugs. It's part of what's gotten me hooked to the game for years. And I don't plan on stopping. Trackmania stands alone as the greatest racing game of all time for a reason. And I hope this community can continue to channel this energy that we have for the past 20 years ❤

I love that TM lore has things like long lost footage to unlock faster times. In fact the entire pursuit of faster times with new lines or bugs or skips in TM is like the discovery of magic and slowly experimenting to see what, however impossible it seems, can be made real. Trackmancers.

It says something about Nadeo that they were selective about which bugs to swat when they released the new Trackmania. Fixed: Landing bug - No one likes losing their speed because they happened to land just wrong. Rammstein bug - Mixed bag with that one; it can help in some situations but it's more harmful than good overall. Also, it would not have gone well with the Cup of the -Week- Day format the new game introduced. Left in: Bugslide - Doesn't harm anyone and it's fun to do, and is a way for skilled players to go fast. Uberbug - Even if the player got it by accident it's hilarious to see the car fly like that, and the alternative would be an ordinary crash.
