Many doctors lose their focus, passion and purpose once they hit the field. I’ve met doctors who clearly don’t give a crap about the well being of their patients. The same happens in other “high morality” fields like law.

What a well spoken, sweet, articulate woman. When she said she wasn't ashamed of self harming in the past because she got through it and survived it, it really resonated with me. I wish her every single blessing and a life filled with happiness

I really love sweet Anita for the fact she is so open and honest about her experience with tics. I have Tourette’s and my entire life I have been told it wasn’t real and that I was faking and being attention seeking. She really inspired me to love myself for who I am. ❤❤❤❤

I was also only diagnosed when I was 27 or so. I grew up with really intrusive vocal ticks and eventually learnt to handle it by training myself into non vocal ticks that were not obvious to people around me. Being diagnosed was an incredible relief not because it opened the door to treatment, but because it explained why it was happening

I dont think a psychologist or psychiatrist would only check for psychosis. Was probably a GP with limited psychiatric training. Knowledge of Tourettes is widespread among professionals in psychiatry.

The attention seeking thing is a huge problem for a lot of young people, especially young women. Unfortunately the roots of medicine as it is now practiced are in the years of “hysteria” as a diagnosis and those unconscious biases haven’t been eradicated yet, not even close. Re: UK vs USA, this is a problem in both countries (and also in Europe and Canada and likely nigh on everywhere else) but at least in the UK they don’t charge you for the privilege of being gaslighted about your body, and your income isn’t a barrier for getting to see appropriate specialists.

She's so cool and really well spoken, I wish I could speak that clearly and she just instantly makes you interested in what shes saying, her voice is lovely and soft, I could listen to her all day

As a neurologist and a young woman I find this interview endlessly fascinating. She’s so relatable and so well able to express her experience. The tics are so complex and, 2:47 min into the video, somehow super cute. I’ve seen a number of tics, some involving a risk of self-harm, and find her tics very endearing somehow. I hope it’s ok to express that here because I could never tell a patient her tics are cute, obviously! I didn’t think that adjective could be applied to complex tics…

I'm sorry ma'am, but I have tourettes and it's not cute. I wish people would stop saying it is, I'm sorry to say this, but it isn't a compliment and it doens't make me us feel better, only worse. Because it's really painful. It's not nice or cute to have no control of your body. I was and still do get mocked, scolded, shouted, joked about, and insulted by my very own family. This is isn't easy, so people saying it's "cute" is not... not really a good thing to hear.

I was lucky to get the right diagnosis right away when I started having tics at age 6, even though I didn't have as much tics as her. It really hurts to hear she didn't just get the right diagnosis the first time she went to the doctor, and had to spend so much of her life not knowing why she had tics 💔

Wow. She's so confident in herself. I would show this interview to my daughters.

@Calamity unfortunately a lot of places have sociopaths like that with teachers and many others just being bystanders. Their excuse is always "it's just kids". My friend was put in hospital because some girls perceived her as weird when she was in middle school. A trans teenager from a local school was almost pushed under the tracks by younger kids because "that's not a person, it's a she-he thing!"

I absolutely adore her and glad to hear her life story. I used to subscribe to her on KZread years ago. I wish her well and hope she is happy.

I wish her all of the best, she's achieved quite a lot. It's a tough condition to live with, but the woman behind the condition is coming through, and that's very important.

as a boy with Tourette's, this video makes me unbelievably happy not only because I'm able to relate to it with passion, but because it lets me know that there are other people out there that struggle with this disorder. I was diagnosed with it at around 7 or 8 years old and all I can say is that making friends and socializing is incredibly difficult. Every person I have met that has this disorder is the most kind hearted, understanding person you'll ever meet. I think that's because they've been so hurt and mistreated by people and don't want to inflict that on others and that doesn't just apply for Tourette's. If you ever meet someone with Tourette's, please just be understanding and empathetic with them, they will like you immediately, trust me.

@@alexb4185 If you have involuntary tics that gives you problems it shouldn't be necessary with a diagnosis to inform the relevant people that you have tourettes. If you do or say inappropriate things context always matters and if you hurt someone, then letting them know it was an involuntary action should negate it.

I 100% agree with you, however when you think about it from the other students perspective you can understand why. A child which had not been medically diagnosed with anything was swearing and insulting you. You have to understand that it must have been very frustrating and provoking for other people and for some violence is the answer

Only found out about her today. Such an amazingly lovely young lady. Totally agree with what she said about context and the swearing. If other people can't handle it, that's their issue. I don't expect her to read this but - keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure you're an inspiration to a lot of people.

I feel so bad she went through so much pain and depression before finding her way forward. She seems like an incredibly sweet person and I hope she lives her best life going forward. We will never know how many people will be helped by these videos. Getting a diagnosis is so important for mental health. What a sweet intelligent person.

She was quite famous already within the gaming community, so now she's gonna blow up. Wish I could whistle like her.

not really. she not even a gamer. she is just playing victim and simping. literally abusing kind and good-willed people for donation to her and all the idiots in the comments constantly victimizing her. edit: half of her viewers are simps and people feeling bad for her but that is dark side for light side other half of her viewers are people who genualiy like her content or her. It is kinda unfair from me to say that she only has so much viewers because of bad reasons because ahe also have some great content on the other hand.

Oh my god, Thank you so much for speaking of this. I'm glad people will realize how hard this is for people who have Tourette's. I myself actually have it however I got it when I was 8 I'm almost 19 now and still have it. I have physical and verbal ticks usually being twitching and face Tourette's and and I'm so sorry for you. It's tough considering how many people don't fully understand it. And the overwatch story of push to talk is exactly what I did to cope with it, It's almost funny how much this hits home for me. Thank you so much for this @LADbible TV and Anita for sharing this. Let us both have best of luck in the future. And lastly I wish I could of seen this sooner in my feed KZread. Thank you.

I thank you for your insight and agree with your proactive approach to dealing with others. I found throughout your interview that even with your “Tics”, your communication was far more lucid and flowing than many of today’s conversations which contain meaningless fillers such as “literally, like, seriously, right?, I know I shouldn’t say this”-then why say it? Plus your amazing ability to make that popping sound keeps folks attention to see what’s coming next. You should be a motivational/educational public speaker on this syndrome

What an amazing story teller. Kudos to her!

Thank you, my 10 year old son has tics since 6 years old. He is so friendly with everyone and everyone loves him. But me and my wife still felt that heart ache and guilt when we watch him having those tics. Like we failed him. I know it's silly to think like that. And my son is so strong and living his life to the fullest. Maybe we all have to learn to live with it as life goes on.

She is a wise, intelligent and beautiful woman.

I find Anita so inspiring as she sets an example of how to come to terms with who you are without feeling the need to change. I don't have Tourette's, but I do have Aspergers (high functioning autism) and I've often struggled with awkward speech and movements and I've been told it makes people feel uncomfortable, so in that way, I feel like I can kinda relate. I hope she keeps going on and speaking out about her condition.

Thank you for sharing your story and experience you seem like an amazing person and anyone deserves to understand what’s happening to them much younger than 27. Though it’s also good to hear that 27 is not too late for your life to start !

What an amazing young lady, claiming back her life and all by herself, she's an inspiration to many suffering the condition. I'm a CBT therapist, to hear a child went through many years being labeled as attention seeking is wrong! I loved how Anita addressed it herself with the medical field, well done!. As for the whistle and the winks/pop sounds, these are so cute, I loved her funny stories, truly impressive intelligent lady, thank you for sharing.

That whistle is so dang clear and precise. Impressive

I'm impressed by how she expresses herself. Very high emotional intelligence.

Yeah, she is truly such an amazing and lovely human being. I made twitch to watch her streams from time to time and I am so glad.. because she taught me so many things.. no kidding.. She reads a lot of studies and all so she knows a lot about certain topics and in life advice she is just super spot on. Loveliest girl I've ever seen ♥

This reminds me so much of my stuttering. Her coping mechanisms are the same ones I use. My stutter turned into some facial twitches as well. But it faded after I accepted it as not my fault, and telling people I stutter beforehand and then my stutter becomes sooooo much better!! It’s insane to see this and seeing how much it compares to stuttering. Great interview!

Despite her condition, she has a very soft, clear and pleasant voice. She comes over as intelligent and well spoken and I can definitely imagine a voice like hers in narration like audiobooks, voice acting, that kinda stuff.

@@saurabhcent211 Tics are not controllable and saying it is misinforms people. You can never control a tic. Many people with tourettes may tic less during doing something that requires concentration, but it's never controllable. Doing things that won't trigger a tic doesn't mean you can control it.

@@unbenanntunbekannt I have TS. Telling you from my own experience. It differs in every individual. Some People have vocal tics some have motor tics, some have severe tics where it affects their day to day working, some have mild tics. Mine is mild and controllable when i try to. My tics come all the time, even when focused, but if i think about them and try to control them I can control them. It does not affect my day to day working. Except sometimes feeling bad when people unknowingly make fun of me. And also tics can change over time. When I was a kid i used to have vocal tics. I would make wierd noises in class and kids would laugh at me. Luckily they went away. Now I have motor tics and breathing tics.

As a person with a disability myself, I can empathize with you about the challenges faced when growing up, going to school and trying to live a normal life. It takes a lot of courage to face the world when you’re not the same as everyone else. But that just means you’re a lot more interesting and unique than most, and that’s never a bad thing.

Sweet Anita is so cool, she raises so much awareness.

This woman, despite what she’s going through, is incredibly well spoken. For someone who expressed such hardships in social situations when she was you g, this is phenomenal.

Domi, my comment about how well spoken was more about the fact that she mentioned how shy and afraid of being social she was. Again, it was about the hardships she endured when she was young (not you g) that makes her ability to speak so easily to a camera. But you can ignore part of what I’m saying and only read into it what you want to hear. Unfortunately, it doesn’t align with my intention.

Loved watching her twitch channel. Idk if it's still around I haven't seen it in a while but she's a good person and really funny. I think she's awesome
