Saw this video in my feed, got interested, started watching. At about 2 minutes in, I suddenly remembered "Oh shit, I still have to watch the anime first in case there's spoilers, and this is a show I was actually interested in watching!" I then proceeded to completely catch up to everything except for the two OVA's over the last three days, and immediately came back. Was not disappointed by any of it.

"The manga reveals later one of the most tragic protag backstories I've ever witnessed." Yep yep I read that, 107 deaths over 3,000 years, oof, oof. I bet Ban Really feels bad now.

Now the math, if elizabeth lived 100 years and melodias saw die 106 of her lives, and when she died she come back without much time in between, almost 200 lives of elizabeth never got to know melodias. sorry for bad english, os not my mother language

Just you wait for Escanor. This guy has in my opinion the best personality out of any character in this manga/anime. His fights are awesome, personality steals the show and his power is INCREDIBLY OP, but also really well balanced, I even dare to say that it's better balanced than Meliodas.

SPOILER WARNING UNLESS YOU ALREADY READ MANGA!!! Meliodas actually is invincible. Well, not necessarily invincible but instead immortal due to a curse that a goddess put on him which makes it so that he can't die until the 10 commandments are dead. That's why a black mark appears on his forehead whenever he comes close to death, like when he nearly died from Gilthunders blade. That's the curse healing him.

I must say as watcher and manga reader I didn't notice it a lot that the perspective is rather on Elizabeths view cause the background story's of the different characters interrupted it and made me feel that I'm actually seeing different perspectives, but what you said matches perfectly with the development of the story and the current situation.

Escanor is not so OP since his power is under conditions. He can be really powerful as well as incredibly weak. I'd say he's quite balanced, as are all of the Sins in a way, but that's just my opinion. A really cool character indeed, though not my favorite.

Beautifully well done Nux. Before you pointed it out I didn't even recognize that despite Meliodas being the image of the main character in my head we have seen from other people's perspectives far more than his. I'm down for more of this series 100%, & can't wait for the video on Ainz. The fact that you mentioned how it felt like we were in danger of going down that route following the arc with Clementine before season 2 already makes me excited for your take. I personally love how Overlord's light novels shift perspectives so frequently, & I think the shift from following Nazarick to a much more even focus between Nazarick & the world they're influencing was an important step to making it my favorite light novel series. Shifts it from the danger of feeling formulaic to a much more tense situation where you genuinely have to think about the possible scenarios that might happen. I also loved how you laid out 3 fundamental pitfalls that over powered characters can fall through if one isn't careful. Just excellent work all around! :3

Anime like SDS, Hunter x Hunter, and a few others I can name at the top of my head have done that as well, to not only give you more time with the character but to further strengthen them as a whole and to not always place the main protagonist in the lime light. MHA has done this at times, but seems to mostly have Midoriyna as a centerfold.

I actually think it's overrated if anything, i started watching it having really high hopes, and it was actually pretty entertaining at first.... And then season 2 happened. The power level balance was completely broken, many contradictions, along with plot holes larger than A meteor crater are what killed the show for me (Ex: power-upping by watching a vision makes no sens, Merlin pretty much coming back from the dead, and Escanor bein too damn over powered)

Grayfox gr Agreed, it was refreshing to see how his real life goals couldn't be accomplished by psychic powers. Whereas getting more powerful is the way to be hokage/pirate king/protect the planet as a Z fighter/etc., for Mob, getting more powerful doesn't help him obtain the love of his crush.

Hussan Siddiqui I know but IN CONTEXT he is far more powerful that her (her compered to other heroes and he compered to other psychics) + they are both the main character (Saitama and Mob) . . . similar in a lot of aspects but also fundamentally different in the aspects that saitama is THE PERFECT HERO (mentally) were mob is just a kid (and Acts like it yes I am talking about you j-kirito-kun) that does not know what to do !

Noticed the editing in this video is really good. This series is really cool tho, keep going with it!

What makes him so strong and the story interesting is that u get to a point where u realize he's so strong but even with all that power he still isn't strong enough to save the one he cares about he doesn't have the power to save Elizabeth and having to see her die 106 times furthers the weakness that the only way to really save her is to become what he hates him original self that's why i love Meliodas

Hes overpowered, but also not. He has a very severe drawback to his strength. That being that only with the sun is he strong, and at night hes even weaker than Hawk. Now ofc he IS insanely op during the day, especially during his The One stage, but that drawback also makes him insanely not op, seeing as how he could be killed easily at night

I think that the best part of Meleodious is that he has a backstory that is heartbreaking and the way it is shown compounds on this by showing the normally upbeat and fun Meleodious crying and screaming and yet mere minutes after what is described as a living hell he is back to his old self. In short I think that the best part of meleodious's character is that he has different depths of character and that we never truly know what he is thinking

The thing I like about this series is that no one is actually the strongest.. because each and every character has their own curse, commandments, sins etc. that if used properly can overthrow anyone

A cool idea that I haven't seen explored by many KZreadr's and such is an analysis of an anime POV. You have the fish out of water POV, like Lucy in Fairy Tail, Elizabeth in SDS and Isekkai's protagonist. The already established character which well learn about throughout the show. Also the use of internal monologue and which character's monologue we can hear can carry significantly and really affect the viewers perceptive . Its pretty interesting how much internalized thought are communicated to the audience in anime compared to live-action content. There are many other things related to this topic which I have not addressed, but i'll leave that to someone else.

The fact that meliodas is not only the *demon king’s eldest son, used to be the leader of the Ten Commandments, immortal and the most feared demon/creature in existence* is obvious that he is the best character in anime to ever live!!!

Meliodas fanboys who think current Meliodas is an improvement rather than a regression (which is what it's being portrayed as) and is better than old Meliodas are being shallow. People who think Meliodas is a better character for losing his emotions don't really care about Meliodas at all. They honestly just like him more because he's "super strong!" The manga is portraying it as a bad thing, hence him abandoning his friends and joining the enemy he was trying to keep from destroying humanity.

Honestly, I can't bring myself to like meliodas. Like, I can't stand how they executed his OP moments. The only good ones were when he threw the sword and killed that one knight at the beginning. Everything else felt kinda flat. TBH Ban is waaay cooler and seems like a more interesting OP character

The fact that perfect time is the song makes this video OP

Really? I found his overly-pervert behavior to be sigh-worthy instead of just merely cringe-worthy. And I think the princess is very annoying. The expressionless fights with meliodas (sp?) gave me nothing, I wasn't invested in the fights at all until he had an expression. I especially was never convinced with the first seasons "fake" villain, the pink haired guy.

I never said the Seven Deadly Sins was a bad show. I think its pretty decent. I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

Same here about him being a pervert but I always did enjoy the contrast between his personality and how his behaving now in the manga. His gone a tad dark side...

Never liked the pervert behavior either, but I did find his poker face a little endearing. I had taken a long break from anime, especially shonens because all the tropes were wearing me out, and Seven Deadly Sins was my first attempt to get back into it. I found Meliodas a nice departure from the typical shonen protagonist who was constantly acting stupid and easily enraged, and despite being the underdog for seemingly every fight they just use their emotions or "power of friendship" to pull a last second win. Instead, he was a pretty chill protagonist who was easy to root for and the anime presented it in such a way that it wasn't mind boggling when he or any of the other sins defeated some super powerful enemy. Meliodas is actually one of my favorite shonen protagonists, and might have had a chance at being my favorite if not for the unfortunate pervert trait.

Tendopain plot convenient? Sure but he gets challenged while fighting seriously pretty often, so i dont think him being op counts. (He also lost plenty as well)

Tendopain only case in DBZ is Frieza Vegeta? Needs Gohan krillin and yajirobe Cell?Gohan Buu? Spirit bomb from everyone Even in the original dragon ball, I can only think of king Piccolo and Tao Pai Pai. Goku lost more in dragon ball than he did win. He lost to Tien and Roshi. His only win was in the end against Piccolo jr
