How to wood fill, sand, caulk and paint trim -- My process and products to get a flawless finish

I often have people ask me about my process and the products I use to finish trim after installing door and window casings, baseboards and crown molding. So I walk through my specific process and the products I use to get a flawless finish.
See my method for installing very easy door and window casings (no miter cuts!) that look expensive and custom here: www.addicted2decorating.com/h...

Thanks for the video! I am in the process of putting a floating floor in my house (built in the 1800s) and was wondering how to best clean up the old baseboard prior to installing quarter round. I got lots of little nicks / chips / divots and the like. This video has given me some ideas for the wood putty on those areas, plus the caulking technique / advice will come in helpful for once I install the quarter round. I would never have thought to add dish soap to the water, totally makes sense!

very good instructions have gone back many times to your vids for help on past projects. But did I miss something or did you not mention the poke wire on the caulk gun to pierce the tube of caulk?

I completely forgot to mention it! I rarely use it since I almost always use latex caulk, which doesn't have that internal foil thing that you have to break with the metal poke on the caulk gun. But on the rare occasion that I do use a polyurethane construction adhesive or something like that, I do use that metal poke wire to break that internal seal. Ugh! I hate that I forgot to point it out!
