    I followed the steps along, I got my pressure up to about 15psi which is what was recommended. It looks like I passed the pressure test. Looked thoroughly and found no leaks. What do you think my next step should be?

    Question @youwrench Before carrying out the test. Is the engine supposed to be hot (reach operating temperature) or cold (like over night cold) AND after already lost some coolant in the radiator do you need to top up the coolant before testing or just test regardless of coolant level

  • @YouWrench

    @YouWrench

    3 жыл бұрын

    You can run the test with the engine cold (and not running) no problem because this is simulating adding pressure to the system for you. If the level is low, it is worth topping up before running the test, especially if you are expecting to see a leak. Hope that helps :-) --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! About the 16 PSI, why do some people when using an adaptor on the coolant reservoir to pressurize and then refill the coolant system with a compressor use a far much higher PSI like 25-28 PSI?

  • @YouWrench

    @YouWrench

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ah ok, so this is different. The 16psi comes into play as this is the pressure for the factory radiator ap (as you can see printed on the top). The cap is designed to release excess pressure if/when it goes over 16psi, so the system will keep a constand pressure as it is designed to do, and if there is a build up of pressure the rad cap can release it. So that is more the 'operating pressure' side of things... When replacing the coolant using the pressurised type of tool connected to an air compressor, it needs enough pressure to 'suck' in the coolant from the bottle. Also, remember when you do it this way you are 'sucking' the empty cooling system, to remove the air (the pipes flatten out), whereas the pressure tester is 'pushing' pressure. So the process is different :-) Hope that makes at least some sense, lol!! --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! hi brother... may i know how to choose a radiator cap for my car... my car using double layer radiator and my engine capacity is 1.5cc... thank you

  • @YouWrench

    @YouWrench

    4 жыл бұрын

    Most sets include a selection of caps that are designed to fit the majority of car makes and models. The best way is to try each cap until you find the right one. It should be quite obvious which ones will definitely not fit by looking at each first. There should be one there to fit, unless you make and model is rare or unusual. Best of luck!

    I would almost bet the farm you actually didnt have a leak. I believe you poured coolant to show what a leak would look like :)

  • @YouWrench

    @YouWrench

    3 жыл бұрын

    I wish that were the case!! The leak was from a corroded clip arm on the lower radiator hose. It would only start to leak after a certain amount of pressure (as seen in this video). Noted the corroded arm, went to open the clip and the arm immediately snapped off. The radiator itself was a-ok. Nasty cheap clips!

    No, this kit is for testing the radiator, and it replaces the cap during testing so this it no good for testing radiator caps. Yes, for us it was a partially broken lower radiator hose clip rather than the radiator. So VERY easy to spot, but would only leak once pressure was applied, and once it started it POURED out!! Replaced the hose clip, and was perfect again :-) --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome!
