This was really helpful. Do you know when the other videos will be released - i.e. creating custom monitor mixes etc?
This looks great! A question: when you move the input knobs of the interface, do the faders of the control mixer move at the same time? and vice versa? you move gain in control mixer.....do the knobs of the interface move?

Not quite. The preamp gain is an analogue control and not something that can be controlled from Focusrite Control. Similarly, making changes to the output level using the main monitor output control is reflected in the Focusrite Control application but this physical control can't be remotely controlled from the software.
when the next video?
In the output routing, if I chose 1-6 for my surround setup, it appears to lock the volume levels for each channel. How can I calibrate the speaker levels during an SPL test? Is there a way to unlock the individual speaker levels so they can be calibrated but keep the 1-6 control so it takes them up and down together? What about setting +10 for LFE?

Apologies for the delay in response. This is unfortunately not possible without a third-party program to calibrate speakers individually. There isn't a way to set an output level individually and have them be controlled at that level by the monitor knob.
Even though I think it should be possible, I want to ask if the Claretts also contains a „Loopback“ feature? Or can this be simply done by routing Out 1-2 to In 1-2?
@FocusriteHelp
Жыл бұрын
This is true, Clarett+ interfaces do not have a loopback feature. You can create a "Physical Loopback" by running a cable from one of your line outputs, into one of the analog inputs of one of the larger units.

Why doesn’t it have the loopback feature when older versions did ?
Was the next video ever made? I can't find it, and I'm trying to figure out how to use the Clarette 2 Pre with an outboard compressor. Any help available? Thanks

For information on using your Clarett with an outboard processor please refer to this article. You will want to go from the line outputs, into the processor, and back into one of the front inputs in terms of the Clarett 2pre. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/115004592269-How-do-I-set-up-and-use-an-external-effects-processor-as-an-insert-when-tracking-in-Focusrite-Control-

@@FocusriteHelp Thanks for the reply. I followed the instructions, but seem to only get a sort of feedback, it's quite difficult to describe, it kind of sounds like wailing....I have tried (Logic pro x) both the I/O and some routing, and both have the same result. Oddly, the 'ping' button seems to do nothing as well... Any ideas? Thanks
Do I need it for Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen with Ableton live lite 11?

Yes, Focusrite Control is required for Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen. More here: bit.ly/3CJadXO Bri // Focusrite US 🇺🇸
Is my ears and mind play whit me or the air function is adding a some DB of "leveling/compression" kinda effect next to the high boost? I'm not mad at Focusrite I kinda like it!
I have a really important question: If I use 2 Clarett+ connected by ADAT for an atmos system, when I click for my monitor to control all outputs, it will control my main 10 + the extra outputs from the second interface? PLEASE HELP.

Afraid not. You will only be able control the outputs on the primary audio interface.
So when will the next video come (as promised at the and of the video)?

I bought a Clarett+ 8pre and although I’m impressed with the audio quality, I can’t believe loopback is missing. Why is this feature omitted from the Clarett+ range, but available on the cheaper Scarlett range? Is there a technical reason why this can’t be done within Focusrite Control on the Clarett+ interfaces?
@FocusriteHelp

The Clarett+ and Clarett USB ranges predate the Scarlett 3rd Gen range and the creation of its dedicated Loopback feature. However, you can achieve a similar result using the SPDIF connectivity available on the Clarett+ 8Pre. To set this up: Connect an RCA cable from the SPDIF Out to the SPDIF In on the rear of Clarett+ 8Pre. In Focusrite Control, set the audio source of the SPDIF output to the desired source you want to loop back. Then, set the input source of Monitor 1-2 (or whichever output you wish to receive the loopback audio from) to Hardware Input SPDIF 1-2. If you wish to have multiple audio sources routed to that particular output, use the Custom Mix feature and manually add Hardware Input SPDIF 1-2 to the mix.

@@FocusriteHelp thanks for clarifying. I didn’t realise the loopback was a gen 3 addition. I’m using the spdif I/o as you e suggested and it works fine. Thanks again 🙏

This didn’t help me at all. Still see the green bars bouncing up and down on tye front of my clarett 8 and in the focusrite control software, but still can’t hear any sound through my headphones connected to the front of t her clarett and can’t seem to see any signal from my guitar amps load box which is connected to the clarett via the spdif. I don’t get why this has to be so difficult.

I hear you ... I was getting some weird left/right volume imbalance on just the headphone output and it was really low. I don't know exactly what I did, but fooling around with the faders on the channels seemed to set it right. I have no clue what I did either .. just messed about with the 'Custom Mix' . I think it comes down to a problem with the defaults. Yeah.. I don't know why it's got to be some complicated either. It seems with these basic interfaces, the defaults should be plug and play.
Output routing, my scarlet 2i2 3gen says 'output routing is not supported on this device' can you help me please?
@FocusriteHelp
Жыл бұрын
Hello, apologies for the delay in response. While Scarlett 2i2 is compatible with Focusrite Control, it can be fully controlled by the buttons on the hardware itself. Also, Scarlett 2i2 only has Output 1-2, which does not allow for different audio streams to be routed. To fully utilize your interface you only need to make sure it is selected as the input and output device on your computer, and in your DAW. Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.

No mention of MIDI?
@FocusriteHelp
Жыл бұрын
That's right. MIDI routing will need to be set up using your DAW of choice. A MIDI signal received at the input/output of your audio interface can be sent to a suitable MIDI track in your DAW or piece of hardware. This doesn't require Focusrite Control. Focusrite Control is essentially a remote control for the hardware that provides metering. Audio/MIDI does not pass through the software.

@@FocusriteHelp Well it's certainly controlling the audio here. My DAW - despite its output being set to the Clarett - won't send out any audio to my monitors until I also open up Focus Control and choose 'Playback (DAW) 1-2'. Then later, if I just want to play my synth through the monitors without having my DAW open, I get no sound until I change the Focus Control monitor setting to 'Hardware Input > Analogue 1-2'. Always back and forth. Same with browser audio. KZread has no audio (despite system output set to the monitors via the Clarett) unless I go back into Focus Control and change it back to 'Playback (DAW) 1-2'. Always the software determines the outcome. If that's how it is, fine. But nowhere did the tutorials/videos make clear we'd have to have it perpetually open to switch between routine audio sources like this.
i dont understand any of this, i really try. Still i work with it pushing buttons till something makes sound. i feel super stupid but manage to do other recording related things quite well. Anyone out there with the same problem able to link me to a different kind of short explanation? Its a huge weak link in my visual brain that is used to see cables and tape
