Hi, apologies for the delay in response. Because most guitar pedals output inst level, you will want to set the preamps to the INST settings. Air mode on/off is a matter of preference, you should try both settings and decide which sounds best for your desired guitar tone. More info on air can be found here: us.focusrite.com/scarlett/what-is-air-and-how-does-it-help-make-better-recordings Finally, for direct monitor, this will send a signal directly from the inputs to your outputs with no processing and no latency. If you don't need processing from your DAW to monitor your guitar, then this is a great option. If you need to add effects from your computer, you should monitor through your DAW, although this might add latency. Please let us know if this makes sense or if we can answer additional questions.

If you are using a dynamic mic, you may need to turn the preamps almost all the way up for a quiet sound source. -If you are using a condenser microphone, have you applied +48v phantom power? -Can you try a different USB cable if possible, and if you are connected to a USB hub, can you try connecting straight to the port? Is there a way to separate the 1 and 2 audio channel so I can have 1 with my mic and 2 with my guitar. It's incredibly annoying how i cant use my mic at all if i want to stream the guitar audio and vice versa. Bcs the thing is ONLY audio channel 1 actually gets through to OBS and channel 2 doesnt seem to work AT ALL. And even if it did, I still want to put a VST filter (neural dsp) on my guitar audio so its not just a very mild and quite honestly, BAD clean sound, and so if I use Neural DSP to get dist, a better clean, or whatever, my MICROPHONE also gets it. I dont really feel like speaking with distortion, delay or reverb.

When you are directly monitoring your inputs, you will hear the dry signals with zero latency. Scarletts can operate DAW playback with extremely low latency, but there are other factors that can contribute to latency, such as CPU usage, buffer size, and computer ability. Its a useless product and its the sole reason i have no desire to enjoy one of my favorite hobbies. Fuck this piece of trash
Hi, we're sorry to hear that you are having trouble, but we are confident we can get your issue sorted. You should be able to hear both your computer audio and your device input if you direct monitor your inputs. This article explains how this is done on a Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360006972599-Direct-Monitoring-on-the-Scarlett-4i4-3rd-Gen However there are other methods of doing this, such as through a DAW, so if the above method doesn't work, or you need additional assistance, our support team would be happy to assist at the link below: bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
God sake. Now i gotta buy trs cables
This was an absolutely fantastic tutorial that I discovered when looking for something else. Would you by any chance know how I would set everything up as is in this video but for it to be used for a Facebook livestream please? I have GarageBand and also Logic Pro for iPad. Do I need extra hardware or software for this?
Thank you for your kind words, we're happy to hear this video helped you. Facebook Live for iOS likely can transmit audio captured from Scarlett, but you will need to check with the developer to see if it can transmit audio from Garageband to the stream via iOS. Please let us know if this helps or if we can answer additional questions.
I don't know what to do. I did everything here, but there is no light on the gain, even the other lights (48v, Monitor, Direct monitor) are working, also the Headphones...
We're sorry to hear you are having trouble. There are a number of possible causes for issue: -Have you made sure to apply enough gain to your inputs? If you are using a dynamic mic, you may need to turn the preamps almost all the way up for a quiet sound source. -If you are using a condenser microphone, have you applied +48v phantom power? -Can you try a different USB cable if possible, and if you are connected to a USB hub, can you try connecting straight to the port? If you try these steps and still experience trouble, please reach out to our support team for further assistance. They can be reached at the link below: bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
I’ve tried actually everything. I have a iostation24c absolutely everything in every single video I do is correct and it won’t work. I have the mic on my mic and it won’t work. My mic works it’s the apps fault. I have no idea what to do. I have a bluebird xlr condenser mic. Everything’s plugged in. Every other app works perfectly but I can’t hear my mic on any streaming thing like obs or streamlabs. Do you know anything else to try??

Hi, we're sorry to hear you are having trouble. If you are working with a 4th gen Scarlett, you should be able to combine the inputs to solve this issue, info on how to do so can be found here: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/14653126009490-Scarlett-Solo-4th-Gen-one-or-two-input-app-compatibility#:~:text=Open%20Preferences%20in%20Focusrite%20Control,Input%201%20and%20Input%202. Please let us know if this helps, or if we can assist further.
Thank you so much. 👌
It’s still not picking up. I have my scarlet as my input device and I hear it through the mic, but Logic is not grasping the levels
We're sorry to hear you are having trouble. Have you made sure that your Focusrite has been selected as your input/output device in both your Logic settings and your computer preferences? Then in Logic, have you made sure that the track you have selected is assigned to the correct input on your Scarlett, and that the track has been armed for recording? If you have tried these steps and you're still experiencing issues, please reach out to our support team at the link below for further assistance: bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
@@FocusriteHelp man I did all of that. I even bought a new thunderbolt cable. I’m tired of the runarounds
Thunderbolt cable? Scarlett is a USB device. It will need to be connected to a USB A port (USB 2.0/3.0) or USB type C port on a Mac or Windows PC. If you give us a cal or use Live Chat, we can troubleshoot this further and help you get set up.
@@FocusriteHelp my bad, I actually fixed the scarlet problem. I mixed this with a comment about my Apollo twin
Is there any audio lag ?
When you are directly monitoring your inputs, you will hear the dry signals with zero latency. Scarletts can operate DAW playback with extremely low latency, but there are other factors that can contribute to latency, such as CPU usage, buffer size, and computer ability. More info can be found here, but please let us know if we can answer additional quetsions: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/207546885-What-is-latency-in-audio
Thanks so much :)
will a splitter adapter work if i want to connect two headphones
Yes, this should work no problem
Can I ask why there is no input 2 on my guitar? I am following your instructions in 4:20 on your video, I'm also using Focusrite 2i2. pls response to my comment. Thank you guys!
We're sorry to hear you are having trouble. Are you saying input 2 is not appearing as an option in Reaper? Have you made sure your Scarlett has been selected as the audio input and output device in both your computer preferences and in your reaper preferences? Also have you installed the drivers and Focusrite Control?
It is work loud on dt990 250 ohm? Because third gen was not 🤔
Scarlett 4th generation interfaces are compatible with headphones with an impedance up to 300 ohms. So your headphones should have no problem working, although we recommend using a 5v USB-C power adapter with your Scarlett. More info can be found here, but please let us know if we can answer additional questions. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360021413360-What-impedance-headphones-should-I-use-with-my-interface
I have Focusrite Scarlett 4th gen solo and Modmic uni with 3,5mm to XLR adapter for mic, but I can't make it work at all. Modmic works just fine when directly connected to PC. Help.
We unfortunately can't confirm that microphones of this type are compatible with Scarlett. We recommend reaching out to Antlion audio's support team to see if this connection type is possible, and what power requirements are needed. They can be reached here: antlionaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
@@FocusriteHelp Sorry, my bad. I figured it out. I had the wrong XLR adapter, I needed one that converts 48V to 3-5V.
I can't get any signal from both my inputs. I'm using a second generation Scarlett solo. The led light isn't is still off when I plug my microphone or my instrument. There's no signal.

I'm not able to hear the guitar as it's playing but I'm able to hear the recording after it's played back.
If you want to hear your inputs in real-time, you will need to enable input monitoring either through Focusrite Control 2 or through your DAW. More info on how to use the Focusrite Control 2 mixer can be found here, but please let us know if we can assist further. support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/13291845720978-Using-the-Focusrite-Control-2-Mixer
I have the Silver jubilee installed and i can access it in Ableton lite. However i cannot hear any change to the guitar sound. I record a guitar track and then play it back in Ableton the effect is added. Is there a way for e to be able to hear the effect added as i play?
It sounds like you may be direct monitoring through your interface, not through your DAW. To hear your guitar signal in real time, with effects, you will need to disable Direct monitoring on your interface, then enable monitoring in Ableton. More info on how to do this can be found here: help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006569179-Monitoring-in-Live#:~:text=Open%20Live's%20I%2FO%20section,track%20is%20armed%20for%20recording.
Would be nice if you added presets for 5.1, 7.1, etc

I attached the i8i8 to my iPad Pro. When using garage band, I can't hear any input or playback. I enabled the monitoring function. Any help is appreciated.

Here's a a specific question. I'm unable to figure out how to enable direct monitoring in stereo. I have a left / right going into the two front inputs, and I'm using the 4i4 to monitor / record stereo. Everything works as expected, and the recording is in stereo I just can't hear the stereo out the 4i4 directly. Focusrite Control 2 has no outputs tab either.
Hi, thank you for reaching out, and our apologies for the delay in response. Are you working with a 4th gen Scarlett? if so, this article regarding use of Focusrite Control 2 may be helpful: support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/13291845720978-Using-the-Focusrite-Control-2-Mixer However, if you need additional assistance, please reach out to our support team at the link below: bit.ly/FocusriteSupport
Can you use wireless/ bluetooth headphones with these? If so, how?
No, generally speaking wireless headphones aren't compatible with audio interfaces like Scarlett. Scarlett doesn't feature Bluetooth or wireless connectivity of any kind. Headphones or a wireless headphones receiver will need to be physically connected to the Scarlett headphone output.
@@FocusriteHelp okay mate thanks for the heads up! Good thing I didn’t spend 80 quid on some new wireless headphones :)
Did all that and stil doesn't show up on the Ableton 12
