I use this thecnique with great succes to depart from a leeward alongside berth. Works up to F6 with good timing. You should use a as long as practically possible line

Keeping the wheel to port in first stage might negate the need for fenders in port quarter?

Nice maneuver with a light fin keel boat ... perhaps also try running a back spring on the port quarter and back against it to lift the bow off ... what out for the stanchion! Cool

I have tried to use that same technique but against the wind, and I had some difficulties undocking the sailboat.

Are you letting out more line as the boat turns?

Would like to try this on my full keel classic sloop... the boat turns about as quickly as the Titanic.

She's probably not the wife.

It looked as though the transom was scraped on the dock as it first turned. Tough to protect the edge/corner of the transom in this maneuver.

He had the wind helping him! This is mainly for going against wind.

As long as practically possible

Don’t do this with a flybridge, when you have 1000hp and you weigh 10 tonnes, you will put too much pressure on the cleats
