    Thank you for being short but to the point. Others need to take 20-30 minutes to tell us what only took you 2. Appreciate it.

    FYI: if you have the. 6-speed MANUAL like I do, to get into 4Lo, you do the same steps HOWEVER you have to keep the clutch pushed in to let 4Lo engage and disengage

    If you want to use 4LO, make sure you’re on level ground. If not, you’ll have a hell of a time getting it to engage.

    Just FYI if you’re on 4H / 4L if you’re making sharp turn you’ll hear a clanking noise… that’s from the transfer case … 4x4 is linear .. I learned it from my 2022 Tundra …

    @@omarperez9119you don’t have to whenever the ground is slick and slipper .. you only use 4Hi / 4Lo whenever there’s a inclement weather like heavy snow, unplowed roads or if you’re off roading or any situation that can cause slippage on your wheels .. never use 4WD in dry paved roads bec it will damage your transfer case due to wheel binding ..

    @bwset69 Ah, thank you! One las question if I may. They say you're supposed to switch to 4x4 once a month for like 10 minuets in order to lubricate. Am I able to do this in dry pavement if I'm going in a straight line and under 60??

    Well done. Friendly suggestion: You might consider changing the title of the video to "How to engage 4HI & 4LO.." as you're not actually showing how to "use" it, as your title suggests. Also, maybe add the information for those with a manual transmission. Keep them coming!

    Why when you are using the 4h or 4L you can't use the reverse and does the Tacoma stall?

    That indicates you are NOT in 4low yet. You may have to switch back into 2 Hi then try again. I had this problem when my truck was new and found it happened less often once I had “worked“ it in over time. Same issue with locking diff - the more I used it the easier it would lock in. Sometimes driving a bit forward or in reverse would also help the system lock in.

    Why does the vehicle have to be in Park for 4h, but in 4L, it has to be in neutral?

  • @trdtakeover

    @trdtakeover

    3 ай бұрын

    It doesn't have to be in Park for 4H. But for 4L, they want you to be in neutral because engaging it at speed might be a problem as the RPM range for each gear shifts drastically (that's my guess).

  • @trdtakeover

    Possibly, but I do not recommend it unless in snow or similar situations. However, it might not be a good idea to go that fast in situations that require 4WD.

    @@michaelm1053This goes for any 4x4 truck: -You’ll wear down your drivetrain - May potentially wear down/have a fail transfer case down the road. -Wear down your 4x4 actuator - Will have to service your differentials, transfer case and transmission with new oil fluid($$$) sooner than normal. All these conditions are based on if you’re driving too fast in dry climate. The 4x4 hi needs conditions that have snow/slippery wet/muddy roads where tires don’t get enough traction. Driving in 4x4 engage in dry pavement and making sharp turns will and can potentially cause these wears/failures later on. In any 4x4 truck you need to drive 10-20 miles with 4x4 hi engage every month to have you front differential and other 4x4 components be lubricated and not dry. This can be done by going on a trail that is muddy/snowy or a backroad that has seen rain and mixed gravel.
