With all the people worried about your nail polish, nobody mentioned using jackstands would be a bunch safer than just a jack when wrestling these heavy motors around. Good job! Nice cart!

Excited see the new video! You inspired me to update my programming on my new controller. I went with the 600 amp alltrax. Live in Pa with lots of hills. The D&D hi torque was a must. Had to upgrade to 1 gauge copper wire because I was getting a heat issue at the forward/reverse switch. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks

600 amps?!? That's a monster to pair with that motor! I freaking love it. Can't believe you had to go with 1 guage to handle heat at F/R. But that makes sense, to be honest. Appreciate the comment, happy riding!

nice organized tool box. Inspiring build. I gave it a go and I rebuilt my golf cart from the chassis up. I put in a 5kw 600A Navitas AC motor kit, wow!!! The speed and the torque. 36Mph and hill climb. I put in a LiFePO battery that can deliver 240A continuous and 540 peak for 6sec and it only weighs 111lbs.

Great video. With more torque and the same voltage I would have expected lower speeds. I too would recommend going to Li-Ion batteries. The weight savings alone along with the higher current availability and longer life definitely make it worthwhile.

Did the D&D connector not mate with the factory EZGO speed sensor harness? I am doing a swap in the next week myself and I see the EZGO does have a clip in harness for the speed sensor wires further down the loom. If so you can avoid the solder and splice.

Hey Shawn! I can't tell you how much I love this idea! I just started googling some parts - looks like for about $430 I I can snag a High-Speed Gear Set Kit (Fits Select E-Z-GO / Yamaha Models). That might just be the ticket! I have to tell you though - I'm not sure I'd do that on a stock motor. But a nice torque motor might be fun to upgrade from a 12:1 to am 8:1

Andi Wofford Ph yea! You would absolutely need the high torque motor! Plus as many as 48 volts! My wife’s cart is a 2018 TXT 72 volt, than can actually lift the front wheels off the ground maybe an inch and leaps off the line. But after that? Not very much except for not slowing down on hills, but 25 mpg on my phone is all she wrote. That would be a great candidate for re-gearing. But borderline dangerous IMHO, due to the fact of having only rear mechanical brakes! My cart in the other hand is a 2018, Tomberlin SS Coupe, 48 volts AC, that’s the best most feature filled carts on the market! With four wheel hydraulic brakes, with drilled an slotted front disk brakes! Independent coil-over front suspension, with trailing arm coil-over rear, 8, 6 volt T105 Trojan batteries, with a built in Bluetooth monitoring charger. Plus all DOT controls with LED lights, digital speedometer and odometer, automotive type key an steering lock, with hi/lo F/R toggle controls up across from the turn signal hi/lo beam controller, plus power steering! DOT safety glass windshield and wiper! The cart handles like a go-cart! With 245/50-12 radial high traction tires, with a limited slip differential! Helps me go just about anywhere! But it’s the tq plus speed that’s great for a stock cart! Tomberlin also has the quickest 0-25 mph time, with the occasional 26,27 mph, depending on charge. I have also driven around our beautiful 55+ community in Central Florida, called Solivida, where the speed limits are between 15-25 mph, with plenty of cart, bicycle and pedestrian concrete 8’ paths all over, with two tunnels going under main roads. I would love to be able to re-gear my cart, mostly because it has the brakes to help stop it from 30-35 mph.

  • @Redneckmullet69

Would it work with the stock controller? I'm putting atv tires on my golf cart because im taking independent suspension off of an atv and replacing the front suspension so i need more torque but I don't have the money to buy both controller and motor.

Yes, the old motor was installed factory at 36v. But I was on borrowed time with that controller and voltage on that factory motor. It was eventually going to give out (most likely by overheating) in time.

I cringed hard when I saw you clip the speed sensor wire. There's a snap ring around the sensor holding it to the motor. Take out the snap ring and the sensor is just magnetically held onto the motor. For a few bucks you can get a new speed sensor cable with the proper connector for the new motor.
