    Before I was called in a guy burned up two controllers trying to get the cart to go by jumping it direct. When he bought a third controller I finally figured out that the reason the cart was not working was because the magnetic reed switch was defective where you plug in the charger.

    completely unrelated, but the title reminded me of one time at a go-cart track with my dad. I thought I was doing pretty good following racing lines and crap (in a car only doing ~40km/h because they speed limit them hardcore). We come up to a straightaway and my cart is floored of course but all of a sudden my dad whizzes by me doing at least 20km/h more than me, I'm like wtf how is that possible? I guess the throttle cable runs right along the edge of the seat, so he just reached in there and pulled it up to open the throttle more than they want you to. Nowadays that gocart track has upgraded to newer carts with pushrods instead of cables, and there's metal panels surrounding the seat.

    I really liked your video!👍🏻 Great dad as well as a great mechanic. This year...last week, I decided to buy a used golf for the purpose of yard work in my back 1/2 acre yard. I’m educating myself on how to troubleshoot and fix one. I’m about to look at an EzGo electric cart advertised $450 (good batteries , tires) won’t start. The seller claims it’s the solenoid ($20) and can demonstrate the proof by testing the motor (to prove the motor is good)🧐 I’m pretty handy with my multi meter and the old cars and not to mention a single older female.🤓 My first thought is...if it’s only a “$20 solenoid”... then why not replace it (seller) and sell the cart for possibly $1000? So I question... Is he not certain of the parts needed?? Is he not giving hidden information?? Anyway.... I stumbled across your video and thought it was helpful! When I do get the opportunity to see the cart, I’ll bring my multimeter and verify the voltage on the batteries and to the solenoid and controller. If I can get him to apply a DC voltage directly to the motor (cart lifted) to validate a working motor, I’ll be satisfied it’s not the motor. Who knows?... Possible reed switch, acc switch, on-off switch... bad wire connection , bad controller...? Or, maybe he tinkered with it and jacked it up!🥺

    Controllers can be way to complex to repair for the time and effort you put in. Ive had 2 fail and paid $230 for replacement. I cracked the case on my first one and it looked the same as your dead one. I figured it would take me at least 5 hrs to pull apart and test and order parts. I just don't want to invest the time and frustration. I wish I could find a repair company I have been looking can't find one. Anybody know one for Kinetek controllers? Its for a genie gs-1930 scissor lift.

    Had that multimeter, kept it in my wife's car when there were electrical issues... I was out of town and she got new tires/balance, the multimeter was in her trunk. The shop TOOK the multimeter. Worked good for the two months I owned it, but now I just keep my Fluke under lock and key. Obviously can't trust a single soul to leave my shit in my trunk.

    hey Mr Brian . I'm requesting a video on the "BIG 3 or Big 4 wiring upgrade" . There is a ton on youtube but they dont cover all of the stuff like best brand of wire to use and the best way to put the ring terminals together. I'm sure you doing a video on it would be 100% better than others I have found . reason is I have a 2003 silverado and the battery seems to have a parasitic draw because the voltage goes down to 11.5 ish votlz .. when running it's 14.2 ish . I use a battery maintainer to keep the battery topped . I put it on every month. So I figured I do a big 3 or 4 upgrade and add a better alternator . hopefully its just got bad grounds

  • @briansmobile1

    @briansmobile1

    9 жыл бұрын

    +Ed Yager I'd be happy to do a video, but that parasitic draw (if you've got an aftermarket system) is probably a blue antenna wire roaming free behind the dash or an improperly wired amp or head unit. All the low gauge wire in the stereo shop won't correct that, but a low cost re check sure could clean it up quick and cheap.

    I do have an after market Pioneer deck installed. I used a Factory direct connect wire harness. All the wires are connected to that harness and I twisted the wires together and soldered them together and used shrink tube to make it a professional job . The only thing I didnt do was extend the factory ground wire to a metal ground near the deck as I used the ground off the wire harness. I will add another ground there soon. But this situation has been like this for a few years now . I had the GM instrument cluster fixed cause that freaked out on me. I read that might cause it . I'm going to do the parasitic draw test on it from ETCG video. Then I will know if its the stereo doing it . I also have NO AMP installed . just a new deck . I just wanted to play MP3 files . I bought the truck in 2005 . had 32000 miles on it . has 65000 on it now , And no I dont drive much . Thanks for the information . Your videos are awesome . wish you lived near me . I could use a honest great mechanic .

    +briansmobile1 Between the two types-- gas vs battery, you could charge them w solar panels or a wind turbine and have "free" power for your cart. as an added benefit your batteries can also be used for back-up power (with an inverter) if you have an electric utility black-out. Good choice on the battery powered cart
