Thanks for this detailed video! I just swapped out the rear speakers on my 2023 XLT turbo. The whole process took just over an hour with no wiring harnesses. No clips broken! I've seen people say it's not worth it to upgrade the rear speakers. I disagree. I replaced the door speakers, the tweeters, and added a powered sub before replacing the rear speakers. Changing out the rears made the sound a little fuller and omni-directional.

Thanks for the walkthrough, helped me swap the speakers in no time. Was really worried since I had heard the rears were "nigh impossible" but it's just some finicky panels. No problem!

@@JCTFIXIT I’m still using stock radio. I changed the front door speakers as well. It’s crisp and clean. Bass is there but could be better with an amp. I think it’s a 100% improvement so far

Check out my other video. I installed a self powered sub behind my back seat Makes up for lack of bass and sounds good. My highs are a lot more crisp in the rear since my fronts are still stock.

Thanks for the video. I think the stock speakers sound pretty decent for a base factory stereo so I think I'll leave it and save all that work (I'd break something for sure). I like the maverick so much that I'm going to order a Lariat with B&O system when they build an AWD hybrid.

I despise interior trim pieces they never seem to look and fit the same .. I wish all MFG just put a removable grille over each speaker but that would be too easy! Love the 4x6 upgrade sorta shocking they fit!

Haha. There are tweeters. If I do my front setup I will make a video, but to be honest, now that my rear is bolstered up the improvement would only be marginal and in my opinion probably not worth the cost to do so or the risk of damaging the dash.

Which original speaker wire is positive and negative? Need help!

Some people have noted the hybrid can't hold up to amp draw of upgraded 12V audio system. Anyone know of this limitation / want the draw limit is of OEM 12V system?

All of the sound system upgrades I've seen have been to Hybrids and none have had a problem. Regardless of the trim or engine you're plugging your amplifier into a 20 amp circuit, so it can't exceed that. I haven't bothered to add an amp yet, just 6 RF's from Crutchfield and the difference in sound is night and day. It's so much better, I might never do the amp. Sound deadening the doors is well worth it, though.

So no upgrade to the speakers or an amp for the fronts?

I left the front alone as the rears were the weak point. Sounded really good after that.

Are the 4x6’s a big improvement over the stock?

The clarity is much better. I imagine a good 2 way 4 inch speaker would be way better than stock. The 4x6 provides better mid as well. Need a sub for any real bass.

@@JCTFIXIT Yeah I upgraded my whole system as well,sub included. The 4 inch JVC speakers I added seem too “tinny”, if you get what I’m saying. So now seeing that these fit I might go this route

Not sure what's the point in the rear speaker upgrade... it's just background suround. The best bang for your buck is changing the door speakers and especially the tweeters in the front corners. Don't forget to add a sub. 😊

I still need to do my front speakers but it honestly sounds really good just doing the Rears and the sub so I haven't brought myself to it yet
