    Question - I see RCA cables, did you use those for your audio input? If so, where do they attach to the head unit? Or are you using the hi level inputs? I'm a novice with these things but I enjoy tinkering. Thanks!

    Yeah, so I tied into my rear speaker wires ( + & - ) and soldered them into my cheapo LOC (left and right speaker inputs). The LOC has female RCA outputs. My amp has female RCA inputs. Most amp kits will come with a male/male RCA cable, even the cheap ones from Walmart or autoparts store. You could get a better quality signal if you tapped into the front speakers or if you got a premium LOC. Mine works great and sounds pretty good though.

    Try swapping the polarity on one of the high level inputs to your line out converter. I bought the same line out converter and I think one of the wires is mislabeled. I had to wire it the wrong way for it to work correctly with both channels.

    finally got everything together, i was to figure out starting voltage, i have VD8 dual voice 2ohm in parallel to 1 ohm (800w rms) and a rp800.1 amp rated at 800w rms at 1ohm , watching the video would it be simply 800x1 and then square root of that for starting voltage?

  • @keganmowery4223

    @keganmowery4223

    Not with this setup. The line output converter only turns on the amp when there's a music input from the speaker wires. Most modern amps have similar features to prevent unnecessary draw.

    Thinking back, I don't believe I removed it. Mainly used the tuck and stuff method. The door weather gasket comes out easily too and has a nice channel to run the power. Same for the b-pillar plastic at the bottom. Just tucked and stuffed.

    @keganmowery4223 that's what I was wondering LOL when I was checking the molding I realized I could literally just talked to wire up running it to the back. Since you won of using the YRC a for the one channel issue I was thinking I can just tap into one side and do the same thing LOL finally got my box off finished this week, going to try to get it wired in this weekend. Thank you again for the video and all the information.

    I as looking for a way to DM you but didn't see a way.... So I will ask my question here. 2024 Maverick XLT . I want to install a 120 volt outlet in the back of my center console. I was wondering what wiring is already inside the console of the XLT if I didn't get that 120 V outlet initially. It's my understanding that all the wiring harnesses are the same, regardless of which model (XL, XLT, Lariat) and that if you want to add some option later, the area (center console in this case) has plug connectors already there. Is that a safe assumption?

    I haven't looked into this, but yes that makes sense. I would pop that cubby out and I bet there a dummy plug under there. Throw a multi meter on it to see start kind of voltage it has, 120vac or 12vdc. My truck does have the 120 outlet, so I haven't checked.

    No secrets. That's the sole purpose of a line output converter. I'm using a cheap one with great success. There are more expensive versions that would probably output a cleaner signal. Search the KZread channel Custom Audio Fabrication. There are tons of super in-depth videos on them.

    I did this through the wires behind the AC/heater module. I'm only getting about 1/4-1/2 power out of it and I have a 1200 watt sub. In my Fiesta ST, I used the same box and got full power. Wonder what I may have done wrong.

  • @SchubertTech

    @SchubertTech

    11 ай бұрын

    @@jayjohnson488 A line level converter is going to give you a full range. if you want better response, you'd run through an active cross over so the sub amp only gets the lows, and the other amp(s) get everything above 120Hz roughly (most of what people call bass is below 120-180Hz). A sub will play above 200Hz, but you'll barely hear it, and vice versa, a tweeter can try to move at 100 Hz, but you won't hear it. It's not that the signal isn't there, it's just so horribly inefficient your ear doesn't hear it. If he wasn't "hearing bass," it's likely the issue the video calls out and comments corroborate: The line level outs are out of phase. Meaning, the left will cancel the rights if both are equal gain. So, reverse the POS and NEG of either speaker (but not both), and you should be good to go. This is actually a good troubleshooting step for any sub running mono that has stereo in. Disconnect one channel in. Does it get better? If no, leave it alone. If the bass hits harder, reverse the input polarity. Some crossovers even have a switch to reverse polarity at line level. Throw the switch, does it sound better? If the answer is ever yes, then there's likely a phasing issue either electrically (like this line level converter) or speaker orientation which CAN be harder to fix depending on WHY. If they're mono subs on the same amp, hard. If it's subs and mid-ranges on different amps, then it's easy (just leave the phase inverted for one or the other).

  • @keganmowery4223

    Technically yes. All the wires run through the door jam where you step in and out. That panel pops out easy. You'd just have to find the wire color. Probably pretty universal across all Ford models.
