How to Upgrade Memory in HP Laptop without User Removable Battery: DDR4-2400 SODIMM | HP 14-df0013cl
How to upgrade memory on a laptop when the battery is not removable and there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove the back?
This video shows how to upgrade the memory from 4 GB up to 8 GB in an HP 14 inch laptop. The same procedure should work with any HP laptop that has a non-removable battery and where there is no obvious way to open the back to upgrade the memory.
This particular video shows a 2018 HP 14 inch laptop model DF0013CL being upgraded with 8 gigabytes of Crucial DDR4-2400 memory.
Three quick tips before starting: #1 carefully remove the plastic feet and make sure that they do not get stuck to something or dust on them, #2 be careful as you remove the back by very carefully moving around the edge all the way up toward the display, and #3 be very careful when removing the memory so as not to bend the clips on either side.

Almost a year later, this computer is still going strong with the added memory (despite accidentally bending the clip)

Thanks good demo, I'll be adding my RAM when it arrives later this week.
Thank you very much Aaron ! You explained and did demo very clearly. I am going to do it myself after watching your video.
Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out how to take the back off, this helped me tremendously!
Thanks for posting. Knowing there are screws under the rubber strips is key. HP definitely does not want people upgrading these models. I have an HP 17-by0063cl and it seems like it will be the same.
This helped me so much with installing more RAM in my laptop! It's a slightly different HP, but the whole dang bottom still had to come off, which was intimidating. And the guitar pick was a sterling hack! Thanks!
Thank you, your explanation is very clear. Keep up the good work!

My hp 14 cm007la has 4gb ram ddr4 and i want to upgrade to 8 or 12 gb, it works 4+8gb? Differents Brands? Because mine is micron technology and here in Perú there isn't that brand, only crucial and Kingston, so it Will work 4gb micron ddr4 2666mhz + 8 gb ddr4 Kingston / Crucial = 12gb ram or 4+4 = 8 gb ram different Brands

This should work on any HP 14 laptop with the same form factor, regardless of processor. I've tried this on my HP 14-cm0072au and it does wonders.
remember the days when laptops used to just have a little trap door with one screw that revealed the ram and the hdd? those were the days! Also did th rubber strips stay in place after you stuck them back down? I just bought a similar laptop for my elderly mom, I suspect 4gb will be enough for what she does, but 8 would certainly be better.. Perfect video for my needs. Thanks!! I have a similar model, the HP 14-cf0006dx. For anyone searching for memory upgrade info on this model, it's virtually identical to the one in the review, however, it has two memory slots. I kept the 4GB slot memory and added 8GB to the other slot. IFixit makes a $2 opening tool that's perfect for this task. Not sure how to add a 2.5" drive but the SSD module can certainly be upgraded.

"No SSD only M.2" This comment of yours lit up a bulb in my head. My HP x360 notebook died. I don't want to take it for repairs because of confidential info on the drive. After watching KZread videos of how to replace SSD, I opened the laptop only to find a big space for a drive as shown above and NO SDD. Paranoia kicked in. I thought the notebook died because someone quietly stole the SSD. lol
