I have this exact model, and although it's a little workhorse, the hard drive was slowing down, and it booted obnoxiously slow. So, I did a little research, and stumbled upon your video on how to install a SDD drive. Following your instructions, I was able to get it apart, install the new drive, and get it back together. I held my breath, plugged in my Windows install media, powered it up, and set the boot order. From there it was smooth sailing!! It is now running exclusively on the SSD, and I'm loving it!! The hardest part was my fumble fingers getting in the way!! Not bad for a 60+ year old!! Thanks for your help!!

Glad I looked up this procedure... I might not have known about the rubber strips hiding screws... Most major manufacturers of electronics hide a screw(s) under the rubber feet, or under stickers... My MSI has 1 screw out of 10 hidden under a sticker... You can take out the rest of the screws, but you have to poke the sticker for that one screw, and that alone will void the warranty if it's new...

Still have the scars on my fingers when building PC's with cheap cases (Very sharp edges) and people wanting very small factor desktops. Just got an HP 17 inch Windows 11 laptop with 8 gb RAM and a 256 SSD Drive. Looking to upgrade both but not sure if this has room for a 2nd drive which would be greate! You made it look simple, and very step by step which is appreciated since I have not actually worked on machines in so many years. I have nothing to do with the creation of this video, but if you are just installing a secondary drive, it's the same as doing it on any PC, laptop or desktop. You install the drive, power it up and the BIOS should recognize it. You then probably have to go into Computer Management to initialize the drive, assign a drive letter, and format it. That's it.

This helped me a lot. the problem I ran into was the laptop refuses to boot from the SSD. I did clone the SSD from the HD. When I boot up and go into BIOS it just shows the original HD listed and not the SSD although if I boot from the HD I can see and use the SSD from WIndows. I did find that by clearing the TPM in BIOS I can see the SSD listed but when I try boot from it it just comes up with a message saying add boot device and hit enter. Any ideas?

It is stupid that they don't put a couple of compartments on the bottom for ram and ssd replacement rather than having to go through all of that. At least there aren't any short ribbon cables attached that have to be disconnected I guess. Those are a pain, and if you accidentally break one of the clips that hold the ribbons in you are screwed most of the time.

would be lovely to upgrade dedicated 960mx to a stronger version graphic card. or using dvd tray to add another graphic card. tip : if there is a connector / pin ; that side comes up first (mostly) gently...
